  1. Just to answer a couple of questions. Mk2 1.6TDi Monte Carlo Tech Estate. December 2013 registered. Driveway is on an angle so car is always parked 'nose-down' so to speak... whether that has any bearing on it?! Just seems strange to be so intermittent.... literally nine months apart. Windows not slightly down, fully down! Last night was certainly stormy but we've had plenty of of wet/windy nights since last December! It's going into Simpsons for its 1st service shortly so will highlight this forum topic with them and see if they've come across anything similar!
  2. You can see my post from 27th January above. I've not had the problem since that first incident but, blow me, really stormy last night and came out this morning. Both windows fully down and the car soaked inside. No opportunity for keys to have been pressed. They were sat inside all the time. Sat on three towels driving to work this morning and still have a wet backside!
  3. Finally got around to checking mine this morning (9500 mile 10month old Monte Carlo Tech Estate)... but had in my head that you were looking for times to 97degrees! Anyway, at a chilly 6 degree outside temperature it took 12 miles and 21 minutes from cold to reach 97 degrees!
  4. A similar topic came up at the turn of the year and I replied with the following with regard to my Monte Tech estate. Thankfully it's never done it since. I did discover the windows down slightly the other day but am sure that was 'keyfob in the pocket being pressed' rather than anything else: Interesting to read this! I took delivery of my Fabia Monte Carlo Tech on Friday 20th December. Went out on the evening of Monday 23rd with some friends and it was lashing it down with rain. (Car stayed on the drive all the time with keys in the house.) Came back on the Tuesday morning to discover both front windows (the only electric ones) down and the car soaked inside. Hadn't moved the keys (or had them close enough to the car) since locking it previously.
  5. My 1.6TDi Monte Tech Estate is averaging about 48mpg measured at the pump. It's done 2500 miles now. 35 mile daily commute a mix of 2/3 motorway and 1/3 A/B roads. I have had high 50s driving very 'efficiently' and being light footed.
  6. I gave my black Monte Estate a wash on Saturday afternoon and couldn't believe the number of chips on the bonnet, front wing and A-Pillar. It's done 1800 miles and must have 15 noticeable chips, several of which have gone through to bare metal and others down to what appears to be the white base coat. Conversely, my 55-plate 120,000 mile black Superb is in decent condition! Similarly, handed back an SLK at the end of a 2-year lease before Christmas and just a couple on the front of the bonnet. Same journeys for each car. Has anyone else got similar problems?
  7. Crikey, there's some very clean cars on here! Anyway, here's my black 1.6TDi Monte Estate to add to the collection, that I picked up before Christmas. (Working at an Agricultural College it's a bit pointless keeping it washed at this time of year!) And, to carry on the discussion from about page 3 of this thread, another Boardman Comp (29er) to go with it as well!
  8. Interesting to read this! That said, it hasn't done it since.
  9. I collected a new Monte Tech Estate in December and was dreading the headlights (having read all the comments on here and coming out of a Mercedes SLK with Xenons and Active Cornering lights.) However, I've been pleasantly surprised. Not sure if the spec of bulbs has changed but I'm quite happy with them and haven't had any problems so far.... and my commute incorporates everything from the M6 to rural country lanes.
  10. Hi Jonro2009, Yes, this morning I was pressing all of them in various combinations for up to about 10 seconds. Will try deleting the phone entirely tonight and then restarting the engine to see what I get then!
  11. December 2013, 63-reg 1.6TDi Monte Carlo Tech Estate, in Black Magic. It replaces a 61-plate Mercedes SLK 200 AMG Sport that's gone back to Mercedes-Benz Finance at the end of a two-year lease. Sits on the drive alongside a 2005 Superb 1.9TDi Edition 100. After 150 miles I'm reasonably happy with it. My only real comments are: No sign of it pulling to the left (so far). Came with Conti Sport tyres on it. Headlights are far better than I expected after reading all the comments on here. No problems at all and that's coming straight from a car with Bi-Xenons with active cornering. Looks a bit awkward as the wheels don't fill the arches! Can't get MaxiDot to display properly. (See separate thread.) Bit plasticy inside.... but was always going to be in comparison to previous car.
  12. I wonder if any other Tech owners could confirm whether my problem is a standard feature or unique to me! Amundsen works fine but doesn't seem to sync with MaxiDot at all. Since pairing my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) all that happens when I switch the engine on is that I get the phone status up on MaxiDot. No amount of rockering the end switches on the wiper stalk (or the stupid button on the bottom of the stalk) will do anything other than navigate around the phone menu. Randomly, if I press Nav on Amundsen enough times, I occasionally get the nav screen up on MaxiDot, but once it's there it again seems to 'lock' and pressing the stalk button/rockers does nothing! There seems no way of getting the trip computer/fuel consumption screen back up again. And no way of getting any radio/media screen up in MaxiDot. It seems as though the introduction of the phone causes a glitch in the workings. If I knock Bluetooth off on my phone, MaxiDot just locks with a "Searching for Phone" message. Anyone with a similar experience?
  13. I had a Mk1 vRS a few years ago and swopped it for the Superb (same 1.9TDi 130bhp) Auto that I've got now. Looking now to swop my wifes car so went to our local dealer last week and drove the 1.2 petrol Monte Carlo and a 1.6 105bhp diesel back to back. Wasn't exactly like for like as the diesel was base spec without leather wheel/gaiter etc... so it felt different. I thought the petrol picked up quickly through the low gears (and I was initially really surprised by the performance) but seemed to run out of oomph a bit when I was looking to accelerate off around 50mph+. It then felt a bit 'low powered'. Then drove the diesel and thought that picked up far better in that mid/upper range..... like the old vRS. As my 20 mile commute includes 12 miles on the M6 I went for the diesel for better flexibility at speed. It made me smile... just like the first time I drove the old vRS... for its punch in 1st/2nd gear and that mid-range pick up. I liked it.... and bear in mind that arrived at the dealership in a 180bhp supercharged petrol SLK. Hope that might help.....
  14. I'm going through the same process at the moment (for the 1.6TDi) and haven't been offered anything at all.... in fact I can barely find a remaining car in the system that I can order for when my current lease finishes in December! A few dealer demonstrators coming off their plans at the end of this month and that's about it!
  15. Does anyone have any images of a Monte Carlo Estate in Black Magic? I can't imagine whether black with black wheels might just look...err... a bit too black - especially from the side, with it being bigger than the hatch?! I can't find any pictures anywhere showing that combination!
