Does it stall/cut out less frequently when the fuel tank is full?

Could be a blocked fuel tank breather.

Fabia vRS TDi replacement suggestions please
aixlad replied to Coffin Dodger's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I spent months thinking the same when I wanted to change, and concluded that there's really not much out there that I'd consider an equal replacement for a Fabia vRS. Monte is nice, but only a 5-speed gearbox, six would be better in my opinion. I eventually went 'Golf' because it's a lazy but reasonable choice. -
GTD.

Unless there's smoke coming out of the back of it, it must surely be a case of just having the correct firmware/microcode installed?

New Job, High Mileage, Advise please!
aixlad replied to surfingobo's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I did a 140 mile round trip commute in mine for 7 months, never missed a beat, fabulous mpg, and it certainly kept up with almost everything on the motorway, but it was very tiring due to the cabin noise and budget seats. -
What's the BT that's not working? Radio not working either. What functionality remains if both the BT and Radio are kaput? Sorry, not up on these gadgets, but £90 is certainly a handsome price, so must be good in other respects.

Ooops, looks like you also need a new tyre......see the side wall damage under the 'O' of 'KUHMO'. I just love those shotgun cartridges, and the right colour too!

Any more clues, am I close?

Would you trust Skoda to do cambelt?
aixlad replied to vRSAnt's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
And, a little known fact, but incredibly Wolverton High Street is recognised for having the longest continuation of luxury brand designer shoe and handbag shops in western Europe. You'll also be saving around £100. If you furnish your wife with this information, then I'm sure she'll be far more accommodating. You could be in a spot of trouble when you get home though, but the upside of this is that you'll have a super new cam belt! Job done, you win. -

Given the infrequency of having this work done, probably every 60,000 miles, I'd go with who you're most comfortable using. Just tell the wife that no one else within 100 miles does that kind of work, and if it snaps unexpectedly then her shoe/handbag fund will have to be severely reduced. -

Still Looking For My Old Fabia :(
aixlad replied to Jamie24_vrs's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
These cars are now getting extremely rare, after all they've been out of production for 7 years, and cars are only generally designed to last about 7 years. The Mk1 was a fantastic car indeed, but the Mk2 vRS was a complete flop in my opinion.........but if it had a TDI 140 fitted, then I'm sure the success would have continued. I worked for the importer (VAG) for several years, a few years ago, and was told that the company was obliged to provide spares for only 10 years after production ceased. So, breaking for spares is certainly viable with the high cost of parts which are probably no longer manufactured, but sitting in a warehouse. -
The very first time my vRS was serviced from new, I noticed that the neat clips had been replaced with slightly unsightly (!) jubilee clips, and it stayed like that for the next 100k miles without any problems.
