  1. On mine, with the springs wound only half way down the threads, I am able to rotate the springs (albeit they are stiff to move) by hand with the strut off the car. If that's lower than they were meant to be lowered, why continue the threads another 40mm lower? The van is nowhere near the bumpstops, and the springs have the full weight of a 2 tonne van sitting on them (distributed over 4 corners obviously). The only way I can really put tension on the springs is to wind the collars almost to the top, which kind of defeats the object of having coilovers in the first place. Going to try the cable tie idea next week - I'll update how it goes...
  2. might be some help (although not Fabia or even Skoda related), but I have Prosport coilovers on my VW T5 transporter, and they knock and bang on almost smooth roads. I've done a lot of research and changed virtually everything, and it would appear to be the springs constantly reseating themselves as they are never really under much compression. I haven't done it yet, but apparently the "fix" is to cable tie the spring to the strut (top and bottom) to stop it moving around on the strut...
  3. If you were coming to the defence of your partner's friend, and he squared up to you, and you felt threatened and formed the opinion that he was about to hit you, then you are allowed IN LAW to use reasonable force to defend yourself. Assuming you didn't go OTT and simply "defended yourself", you should be fine (your previous should have no bearing on whether or not this is taken to court)
  4. and the good thing about white estates, is that they double as Police cars...
  5. is there such a thing? The impression I got from speaking to the bailiff assigned to my case was that she was scared of the bloke.... What I need is a Bradford member with a camera, and a desire to conduct a bit of "espionage" 007 stylee...
  6. These spoons be for ma main man Uri Geller - you be takin away his spoons, he be cryin like a baby. Spoon bendin motha f*cka... Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Now that's what I'm talkin 'bout
  7. It's not a limited company, its not listed at Companies House, and according to the website, is still at the address at which the warrant was served. I know the name of the owner of the company, but I don't know his home address. I could have the warrant changed to be against him personally by paying in full for it again; but to do that I'd need to be sure of his home address. Police will not get involved (believe me, I know that for a fact - not that I have tried); and HMCourts website is f******** useless - all they say is "contact a solicitor for advice" I even tried CAB, who were sympathetic but also said "speak to a solicitor" If it wasn't so flipping far away I'd pay a visit and do some surveillance with a camera to prove he was working from the garage on a permanent basis. Arrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!
  8. Thanks Rob, you are a star of the highest magnitude. I will try that tomorrow morning, as I am off to Sunny (?) Winchester shortly to start my late shift (
  9. if I remember correctly, there are two metal brackets that need removing too... (think they have standard 10mm heads on them)
  10. Cheers Rob, even though I don't understand what you have just said. How do I do that? (the simpler of the two options....)
  11. Okay, I've kind of reached the end of my tether... About 18 months ago I had a problem with a certain tuning company, and to cut a long story short, took them to small claims court. I won (well they refused to acknowledge the summons and never turned up, so I won by default, but I won nonetheless) and they were ordered to pay. They didn't. (Not surprisingly) So I did things the right way; applied for a "warrant of execution" for the bailiffs to go in and get my money for me. Result - they claim they moved to another address so I had to pay another warrant fee Result - they spoke to the bailiff and fobbed them off with some "i know nothing about this" type story... Eventually, the bailiffs went round to the address to seize stuff and lo and behold the name above the door had changed; the "new owners" said they didn't know the company. So the bailiffs spoke to the guy again and he said "I only use this garage for a few jobs, they let me use it as a favour - I'm now a mobile business" What can I do now? (LEGALLY) - I'm not giving up because this a hole owes me close to £1k now with costs and bailiffs etc. But what can I do? I live in Southampton, and the company is in Bradford?? Someone must know what I can do... Grrrr
  12. Mrs Jonnycatbiscuit has a website that sells handbags and similar stuff. It's called www.bagmad.me (and this isn't a free plug) from being complete technophobes we built the website ourselves using "RVSitebuilder" (included in the software when we bought the domain name) I've added metatags and metadescriptions and stuff like that, and now when products she stocks are typed into google the website appears on page one in most circumstances. The problem is this though... (and I apologise for using examples, but I can't explain otherwise) If you google "kate garey handbags" (which she stocks), there is a listing for bagmad on page 1 about ten entries from the top. The only thing is, this link is to an OLD version of the site which looks cr*p and doesn't have the recent price reductions. If however, you simply type in "bagmad", the first listing is for the newest version of the site. Anyone know why this is, and more importantly how I can fix it??? Please????
  13. An elderly neighbour of mine has a late 2004 54 plate Octavia 2 in black. It's in absolutely immaculate condition, inside and out, having only done 34000 miles. It's an Ambiente 1.9TD. He's thinking of part ex-ing it but doesn't know what it's worth, so asked me. I don't have clue. This isn't a sly attempt to sell, as he's intent on part ex-ing it; but doesn't want to get ripped off by local dealers. Anyone know what it's worth please?
  14. Nice, but way too small for my VW T5 I guess...
  15. My kids named my Octavia vRS... ....."Vroom!" (presumably because of the noise that bl**dy powerflow straight through exhaust made
