  1. Sorry for the late reply. It was the bearing in the end which I'd had replaced less than a year ago, not because of an ABS fault but because it was noisy and there was play in it. They did it free of charge.
  2. My vRS SE has recently developed an ABS/ASR fault. I was on my way to the chip shop. I pulled out of a junction fairly quickly and wheel spun a bit. The ASR light flashed as normal and I could feel the power back off briefly as expected. Straight afterwards the ASR and ABS lights came on together and stayed on. I got to the chip shop and switched the ignition off. When I started it back up the ABS and ASR lights stayed on for longer than normal and then went out. I drove a few hundred metres and decided to see if the fault would occur again if I wheel spun. I pulled away from a junction wheel spinning on purpose and the same thing happened. The next time I drove my car (to work), the warning lights came on whilst reversing out of my drive and I drove with them on all the way to work (70 miles). Later on the same day I was driving from work. The lights had gone out and I managed to drive for about 100m out of the yard at work without a problem at speeds of not much more than 10 mph. Once I pulled out on to the main road and accelerated, the ASR light started flashing and the car throttled back but I was not skidding/spinning. A few seconds later both lights came on and the system was again disabled. Since then the warning lights have been on permanently. I did a scan with VCDS and the results for the ABS ECU were as follows:- Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 6R0-907-37x-ASR.lbl Part No SW: 6Q0 907 379 AG HW: 6Q0 907 379 AG Component: MABS 8.0 front H05 0002 Revision: 00000000 Serial number: 00000000000000 Coding: 0002229 Shop #: WSC 13765 790 00000 VCID: 820EAAADDE0B2208B6F 1 Fault Found: 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 008 - Implausible Signal Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 01101000 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 8 Reset counter: 37 Mileage: 236066 km Time Indication: 0 I fitted a new wheel speed sensor and cleared the fault but it came back on by just driving about 10m at no more than 10mph. The wiring and connector to the sensor look fine. If you try and monitor the sensor whilst driving, it gives no signal at all. I booked my car in at a local reputable independent garage. They tried another sensor and the fault remained. They told me they could try stripping the hub down and checking the ring but they really didn't think it would prove anything. They advised me to take it to a dealer. Has anybody any ideas? Because of how it failed I suspect a poor connection but it is fine at the sensor end.. Thanks.
  3. The battery charge LED on the instrument panel has stopped coming on, on a 54 plate vRS. Can' find information in Haynes manual. Does anybody know if it is connected directly to the alternator, or does the signal from the alternator go to an ECU?
  4. Comma do an oil called Diesel PD to VW 505.01. I have bought it from Wilco Motosave before. About
  5. I have been installing a hands free kit in my new Fabia vRS SE. The electrical side is done but I am having trouble mounting the bracket for the craddle. I ordered a bracket from car phone brackets: nokia car kits, car phone installation: Bluetooth hands free: Parrot Bluetooth handsfree part number 71086. There is a number 1086 stamped on the bracket so I pressume I have the correct one. The instructions say:- 1. Unclip the left side moulding on the centre console fascia. 2. Locate the bracket with the torx screw in the top of the recess. 3. Refit the panel. I just can't get the hole in the bracket to line up properly with the torx screw, so that when I tighten the screw the bracket is at an angle preventing me from re-fitting the plastic moulding. Has anybody else used these brackets by dashmount?
  6. Does anybody know where the yellow, green and blue ISO connectors can be bought from that are used on the Symphony HU. Blaupunkt and Autoleads both do them but will not deal with the public directly and do not seem to be able to tell me where I can but them. I want to be able to buy the housings and the pins so I can make up my own connectors.
  7. In the manual for the Symphoby stereo that came with my Fabia it says a mobile phone hands free kit can be connected to it. After taking the stereo out there appears to only be one spare connector which I believe is for adding a CD changer. Can any body tell me where and how to connect a hands free kit to the Symphony?
  8. My Fabia vRS which I finally got in September came with the Skoda Symphony single CD stereo. I now want to add a CD changer and have found places which sell compatible changers. Can anybody tell me if there is a specific place where a CD changer should be installed in a Fabia and are the cables already there, or would I have to run them from the Head Unit?
