  1. Because their web guides were so good emailed them asking what was the best product for mystic blue paint on a second hand car I am buying. Got a reply back immediately recommending 'Blackfire ' products as best for dark colour (all black magic owners check it out!) . When I get the new car and it stops 'beading' will be placing an order with them! they seem very knowledgable about which products work best with which colours and different manufacturers paint. Will update once done.
  2. No, the bmw e46 compact has exactly the same wheelbase as the equivalent saloon and the same z axle with a couple of refinements to the suspension mountings. It has a quicker steering rack that was introduced later on the saloon and touring. Also has direct drive on its sixth gear. I only know this because I'm about to buy a 320td sport compact, quite a rare model(looks lovely particularly from the side, different bumpers to the standard car - funny the difference a set of different bumpers make on a car!). I cant quite believe I'm about to buy a beemer when I think of the pleasure I had frustrating bmw drivers in my old Fabia VRS! Apologies for my move to the dark side.........
  3. Its not April the 1st is it? You cannot be serious Jason? Jason?
  4. A great shame, my 04 vrs was the best car I have owned and I have been regretting it ever since I sold it. I cannot believe how long it has taken to resolve the stuttering issue, a lot of the hard work to improve public perception of the brand will have been undone. As you have experienced good service from the dealer maybe a one owner well kept 2004/5 model would change your mind?
  5. I saw a red vrs today at Sainsbury's Newport IOW which looked good, had all black leather seats with red stitching. Not sure if dealer fitted spec - more likely seat surgeons. Looked good enough for me to start thinking about buying a red one, previously I'd just looked at black and silver. Maybe red stitching on the seats only would look good in a black magic?
  6. Re The air con having an effect on MPG I'm sure I read on here that the compressor for the aircon runs all the time in the fabia? I read that after I sold mine - but I seem to remember that it did not make any impression on speed as turning aircon on can do in some cars.
  7. Thanks Cheezemonkhai, I'll bear that in mind though via web I have been unable to get any supprt off any agfa website!
  8. I wondered if anyone can help - I've had difficulty obtaing xp compatible software for my agfa sanpscan touch scanner and e photo cl18 camera. Since upgrading to 'xp' I have lost the use of these and don't really want to write them off! Agfa seem to have stopped supporting the stuff they used to sell. Grateful for any help/advice on this cheers Ian
  9. I wouldn't describe it as second best just a different resource and equally useful to this site which it compliments nicely! Both essential reference points for vRS owners.
  10. When this comes I can see a few of you popping down to the local vwdealer for some spare parts! http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/926/ Lets hope they'll be giving the next fabia the same treatment!
  11. Yes! I sort of acquired a Polo GLX (cant believe I did that because I had one before and knew that 1.6 is a bit juicy on fuel:eek: ) for my wife which used up some of the money I would have spent! I'd looked at Walkies which was lovely but it had a slight tracking problem and I decided to play it safe because the wife would be driving it. Now I'm going to sell the seat and the Polo and get a vRS. Saw you bought a GTi - I always fancied on of those! Yes grade trade for them but not for us by the sounds of the other posts! I think this was a ruse to sell you a warranty - I'd commented about the short test drive and that I didn't want to have to bring it back - cue a load of waffle from the salesman abouy their warranty! It was the one near Acton in London - I wish it was only just over the water from me would have saved a great deal in petrol etc - but I won't be going there now either! That about somes it up - a bunch of scheisters ( )- don't waste your time!
  12. Cheers Stu, yeah it was a 170 mile round trip from Isle of Wight (but made a weekend of it) hoped to save someone else the bother because it is feasible to find a vRs with that mileage on in good nick, unfornuately for me it wasn't that one! Thought if I found somethimg cheaper then I could afford some of those nice mods your site recommends (would love the leather!) Wondered if you know of anyone who has fitted the eibach anti roll bars (front and back?)by the way as they are cheaper than the jabba rear and presumably were tuned in conjunction with the pro kit springs? Ian
  13. Just thought I'd mention looked at a Fabia vRZ with 76k on the clock at Cargiant - the cheapest vRS on Autotrader right now. Cargiants 'test drive' consisted of a half mile drive round a factory estate in which I was not able to get beyond third gear, they told me it was company policy not to allow testdrives of any greater duration! Car in question has had some kind of accident damage - nearside front wheel arch liner is all chewed up and yet bolted back in place and the bonnet touches the top of the headlamd on the nearside. Car despite professional valet still stinks of smoke, but seemed to drive reasonably. Might save someone a wasted journey if they are thinking of having a look at it and they are fussy like me!
  14. I wondered myself about the back box - or whole exhaust off a Ibiza cupra tdi - looks a similar shape to the blue flame and its a vag part, has anyone put one of these on?
