  1. Would be good to see better pics of the scratches etc but think it'll still be too far unfortunately. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. My wifes 2001 fabia elegance has got electric window troubles at the back. The glass appears to have come unattached from the mechanism. So it doesn't pull the window down, however I can ease the window down with my hands (providing I've lowered the mechanism using the switch) and then when I hit the switch the mechanism pushes the window up fine. I had the door cards off at the weekend to fix the leaky doors and had a look while I was in there. I think I'm missing some sort of plug/bolt/clamp that goes into a plastic fixing (currently with a 15/20mm round hole) to fix it to/grab the window. Does anyone know what this part is so I can order it and replace it, or does it involve fitting a whole new carrier?? Any help much appreciated! (Have searched various posts but can't see anyone else with the same problem) Dan.
  3. Thanks for the response, I ended up going for a new pump and thankfully this sorted the problem. I ended up buying the pump from Jorily for £450 plus £10 delivery, a saving of £200 on the £551+VAT that I was quoted from the garage. Although fair play to the garage as they fitted it for about £65. Thanks again to Jas who did a vag-com check for me saving me £40 and a few days wait for the garage to do it.
  4. Hi guys, Long time lurker here hoping someone can help. Last week the power steering on my girlfriends 2001 TDI 100 died with the light on the dashboard. Switched ignition on and off and all worked fine again. The next day same thing happened, except this time had to swtich ignition on and off aout 20 times before pas came back to life. The next day it was completely dead ( Took it to a garage and asked them to fit a new battery as knew the current one was getting on a bit and due for renewal and hoped this would sort it. Unfortunately no such luck. So then got in contact with devonutopia who kindly offered to plug his laptop in and do a vag-com check (thanks Jas, much appreciated). There was no error code for the angle sensor which is what I thought it might be, but there was '01309 power steering control module J500', after a bit of research it appears this module is attached to the pump itself and therefore a new one is needed - although please correct me if I'm wrong?? Obviously pumps are expensive and currently seem to be £550 retail, doh (Jorily seem to sell the older TRW for £450 though). Have found a reconditioned pump on eBay for £300 but the garage said that their suppliers don't offer reconditioned pumps as they don't consider they can be reliably reconditioned, has anyone had any experience of a reconditioned pump?? Would sourcing a 2nd hand pump from a breakers be a better idea? Next query is part numbers, according to the post below I'm looking at 6Q0 423 156Q as we have one of the earlier fabias. However people seem to suggest that pumps from the polo/ibiza can also be fitted, however these seem to have different part numbers from what I've seen. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/92188-rubbish-fabia-power-steering/page__p__1131726__hl__%22Rubbish%20Fabia%20Power%20Steering%22__fromsearch__1#entry1131726 Sorry for all the questions, just wana make sure I know our options before shedding out a load of cash. Thanks for any comments, Dan.
  5. Thanks Irf. Is the Garret GT17 turbo a hybrid or just a standard turbo (from a PD150?) stronger than the KKK? I assume this could reach 200-220 bhp with a custom remap? Although no doubt that would finish the clutch off! Edit: What did the £1400 service back in June include??
  6. It doesn't seem like it, but that could work out well for me if I go for it. Have to admit I'm tempted, just waiting to see what they may offer me for mine. Although my head says stick with mine, my heart is saying go for it, doh. Found a RR print out on your website and looks like quite a mild map producing around 270 lb ft of torque, so that explains why the clutch has coped ok. Hmm, decisions decisions..... Forgot to say, I assume you were happy with the standard of repair work? The paintwork must be close to immaculate now? Any dings/chips/scratches?
  7. Any idea what was causing the ESP light to come on - did you check it with VAG-COM? Was it the air flow sensor on the intercooler causing the smoke you mention in one of your threads? I assume the smoke only occured after heavy rain? Do you think the sensor just needs replacing? Jabba dog bone mount still on the car - how bad was it? Thanks for clarifying about the car by the way, can see you put a lot of effort into it. Lets hope the R32 causes you less headaches.
  8. Yeh I had a look through some of your posts, looks like a very nice spec, am tempted. When you say electrical problems, do you mean the ESP light and air flow sensor? I also read somewhere about a Jabba dogbone mount which you weren't impressed with, is that still fitted to the car? Surprised the standard clutch is coping ok with the remap and the way you drive it! I got the impression that you drove it like ya stole it which does put me off a lil bit. Plus the fact I have a perfectly good vRS, I'm just getting the modifying itch and it makes more financial sense to buy one already played with.
  9. Just stumbled across this on ebay and thought it looked nice so thought I'd do a check to see if it was someones from here, and what do you know! 2005 Skoda Fabia VRS 1.9 TD 130 Black on eBay (end time 16-Sep-09 16:16:51 BST) Looks like a very nice spec. Can I ask what state the car was in when you part exchanged it, were there any outstanding problems that needed to be sorted? Seems bizarre one car could have so many problems, any ideas why this was the case?
  10. Thanks Dave - have tracked down these which seem to be the same as what you've got. Will order some now. I assume they're easy to fit? Dan. WHITE 39mm LED NUMBER PLATE LIGHT 239/254/272 BULB on eBay (end time 20-Sep-09 11:03:11 BST)
  11. Interesting... as theres a few threads on LED bulbs in the Octavia II forum and they don't seem to get the same problems (just an dash error if they don't get ones with built in resistors for sidelights) Maybe its worth sticking to regular bulbs...
  12. Thread ressurection.... Got my MOT in a month or so and noticed one of my rear numberplate bulbs has gone. Has anyone come across some decent LED bulbs since this thread? I also fancy some LED sidelights but according to this the rear numberplates are festoon type bulbs and not W5W's like the sidelights - correct? Does anyone know the exact size - i.e. 40mm? Cheers, Dan.
