  1. oh wow thats my old car! what a shame.. was a beast
  2. Bought this from a local auction, was too good to turn down! Needs a few things doing to it to get it into good running order, nothing major though :-) Did buy it to sell on initially but after having owned one about a year ago, I've always regretted selling that and this ones better spec'd as in Xenon lights + Heated seats which I know is quite rare on a 2004 VRS. I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about the car, always interested in finding out about a cars history... It was a company car upto 2010 with full Skoda history but the 2nd owner hasn't had the book stamped (either that or hasnt had the car serviced ). He was from Barnsley/Wakefield area. Any help welcome! Its good to be back.
  3. another identical one to mine in the same area... apart from that, not many.
  4. Hi, did a search and spent some time going through a few topics to no avail, basically the Fabia needs a new sump! Having looked at a few online, I can see they're either with or without bore for oil level sensor. Which one will be right for my car? (2005 Fabia VRS ASZ) Or is it a dealer job to find out if my car has a oil sensor in the sump? Thanks.
  5. they come through auctions under CC Trade Sales or UK Car Group - most of them will be damaged or have lots of faults.
  6. I did get a full diagnostics which is why all those parts were changed, they were all faulty. The problem is that the power steering was cured but started getting heavier again until today it seems to have completely given up. I guess the battery and alternator will be the next thing to check. Thanks for the write up.
  7. great article, helps me alot as I've had so many problems but they continue. I replaced the pump which was faulty, angle sensor AND then the steering rack which seemed to cure the problem. However, one week later and now it seems the steerings getting heavier again (no power steering light) but the pump is trying to work, but it just won't (lights dim considerably when turning)? I'm at my wits end now and just thinking of throwing the car into a local auction as I've spent too much time and effort with no end result. could anyone point me to the right direction?
  8. my previous car (Ibiza TDI Sport 130) had ESP and it saved me once in the pouring rain on a motorway where the back end just started to slip out but the ESP kicked in and it just straightened with minimal effort from me. Surprised to hear it wasn't standard on a Fabia VRS.
  9. We once sold a ML270 and was asking £5000 for it. Some private buyers turned up and started hagging for half hour, they only wanted to give £4500 and we wanted £4800 minimum. Whilst they were still haggling, some trader turned up from London who exports the cars to another european country, he checked the car and gave us £5000 there and then. now the other buyers were angry with us for letting the trader buy it because "we came to see the car first". But the fact was they didn't want to pay the asking price. In a final twist, they offered £5100 but the hand had been shook and the deal was done They had to travel back 200 miles with no car bought. edit: btw, looks like you do have a timewaster on your hands. there are people who simply can't say "NO sorry, i don't want the car anymore."
  10. I had a similar problem with my Ibiza last year, it would start... then the power steering light came on and had no power steering... and then it wouldn't start! It used to start with jump leads but after a few weeks it kept doing it, i took it to the garage and it was a faulty alternator. It wouldn't charge the battery very well and the PAS pump uses battery power which wasn't getting delivered. So I would get the alternator checked!
  11. yep i hope it isnt, although my power steering light didn't come on.
  12. does sound like the pump to me, as my car is throwing up similar codes (2005 VRS), my mechanic says its a very common fault on these as he's done loads!
  13. yep my Fabias got full milltek with de-cat so i'll post up a video soon once the rain stops.
  14. with a bit more research, i think i may have answered my own question. "6R0 423 156 B IS THE BRAND NEW PART NUMBER FROM VW REPLACES 6Q0 423 156 AB"
