  1. My 2014 2ltr diesel 170BHP Superb Mk2 didn't come with any service schedule or service log. All it had was a print out from the main dealers of what had been done so far. Is there anywhere online that I can get a copy of the maintenance schedule? Also It's now 5 years old and 62,000 miles so I reckon it must be due a cambelt change. Is it the usual thing of cambelt, water pump etc or is the water pump not an issue nowadays. Thanks for any advice. Andy
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. What would be the advantage of upgrading to 6276? I'm probably happy with where it is and will likely buy a map from a popular selling site.
  3. Hi Rustynuts. Do any of the downloadable map updates include a speed camera database? p.s. I tried one site to download free maps but they wanted credit card details so I declined that one. Skoda Superb 2014. My unit has: HW: H23, SW: 6270 Map 8048 If I eventually mange to find a download site for the maps will it downgrade my software to 5238 and what effect will this have? Many thanks Andy
  4. Hi, I'm intending to get a Westfalia swan neck detachable towbar with dedicated (swing up) electrics for my Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI CR DPF Elegance (170bhp). With the dedicated wiring (which I assume is mainly plug and play) will the car recognise the caravan and enable all the required functions for trailer stability, reversing sensor cutoff etc automatically or will it need coding? If it does need coding is it a big/expensive job? Many thanks Andy
  5. Hi . I posted this last June. "Just had an update from Hughes Skoda in Aylesbury. They agree that their fixed price clutch change is £489. So now they can do the clutch and SMF for £1,051.00 (instead of the original quote of £1,250.00) They say the SMF conversion parts cost is £428 + Vat and it would be an extra half hours labour. The labour is fair enough but £428 + Vat seems ridiculously expensive when you can get a Valeo kit including the SMF, clutch, release bearing etc for £ 365 inc Vat." I eventually got it done by an independent for around £650 with a Valeo kit. Hope this helps. 6. I had the same thing as DJW ( Dennis). Claimed on my insurance. Didn't affect my NCB as it was protected but the premium increased by 25% next renewal and I had to declare it a no fault accident for 5 years. I t makes shopping around for quotes very difficult. I would avoid the insurance route.
  7. Hi. I can't use my voucher until I get my aircon repaired so you can have it if you want. I've pm'd you. Cheers Andy
  8. I think you're most likely right kissifer. It seemed like a completely automatic system although it apparently never threw up any alarms or problems.Maybe my system did fill but the problem is elsewhere. They never mentioned UV dye so I guess they don't use it.
  9. Had my air con recharged at ATS using a £33 Amazon local voucher after buying my car a month or two earlier and found the A/C wasn't very good. Took about and hour and a quarter. They said all was fine, no leaks etc (The deal specifically states a leak test will be done before attempting to fill and the fill will not take place if a leak is detected). Drove a few yards down the road and it was obvious it still wasn't working. Took it back and they said it sometimes took two goes to get it right and asked me to come back next night. Same thing next night. This time they told me it wasn't working before I left. They said there might be a leak after all but their equipment didn't detect it and suggested I see a specialist A/C person. The ATS system seems to be more or less fully automated. To be fair they did try twice and refunded my voucher code when they couldn't get it to work. Can anybody recommend a car A/C specialist in the Oxfordshire. Buckinghamshire area?

  11. I stuck mine back on with 3m double sided tape from ebay. Worked perfectly. I stuck it directly onto the black rubber backing you describe. It meant my the heating element still worked too. Go for it. Saves buying a new one. :-)
  12. Thanks Richard. I wouldn't mind if I hadn't spent so much on it this year. Also if I had to buy a new one I'd have to get a tow bar fitted. I've attached some picture's for more information. Regards Andy
  13. Hit a deer a few days ago. Car goes to the insurer tomorrow or Tuesday. Just wondered what the view on the cost of repair would be or if it's a likely uneconomical repair write off. I've spent £1,300 on the car this year so would prefer it to be repaired. Car is perfectly drivable and got me 340 miles from Scotland yesterday, SKODA OCTAVIA ELEGANCE TDI PD. Octavia II. Sept 2005. 102,000miles. Silver. Good condition generally Estimated damage is: Bonnet and grill etc. Bumper. Number Plate, Both headlights. Air con radiator. Possibly radiator behind air con (inter-cooler?), main radiator is probably ok. Maybe some other structural bits to hold bumper etc. Can supply photo's of general damage if it helps. Many thanks for any advice/opinions re repair costs/value etc and dealing with insurance company. Andy
  14. Thanks for the info silver 1011. I'll certainly mention this to my indy tomorrow because the original quote they gave me was £486. I only managed to get it down to £429 after getting some discount. If there was a main dealer nearby I probably would have taken it them for the extra £20.
