  1. A couple of years ago the water pump on my 2013 diesel Octavia started leaking and the mechanic recomended I have the Drive belt done at the same time, which i did. Is the drive belt the same thing as the timing belt?
  2. My car wasn't used for around 3 to 4 weeks durning the lockdown. Although it started fine the brakes briefly felt kind of binded, but they quickly loosened off as I began to drive. However the car is making a kind of of low noise thumping and grinding sound, possibly from the wheels when I apply the brakes. I thought it would dissapear once I'd driven it around town a few times. I don't use the car a huge amount, but the noise has remained the same. Any help would be appreciated as to what might be causing this.
  3. I have Skoda Octavia 2013 and it failed its MOT due to a fault in the Headlight adjustment mechanism. Basically the adjustment wheel on the dashboard which increases or lowers the height of the beam is only controlling the Nearside headlight, while the Offside is stuck in one position. I've been told it might be the motor that's faulty. Has anyone heard of this before and how easy it to replace if needed. Any help really appreciated.
  4. Hmmm the battery light came back on again, and I thought the tensioner had gone again, but been told its the alternator that's gone this time. Could be what possibly caused the tensioner issue in the first place?
  5. Thanks, I've decided to get the timing belt changed and serviced at same time, which together is costing £290.
  6. On the motorway today, my Skoda Superb 2006 displayed the battery light and I lost power steering. I had to call the AA and was told that the Auxiliary Tensioner pulley had broken, which had stopped charging the battery and lost power to steering, water pump etc. Would anyone have an idea of cost to get it replaced at a garage?
  7. I have manual controlled driver seat and the the lever at the front which allows the seat to slide back and forward has broken. I think the cable has snapped. Does anyone have any experience on fixing this. I didn't realise this now part of MOT so desperately need to get it fixed. Any help appreciated.
  8. I have a 2006 Superb 1.9tdi I've recently had the flywheel and clutch replaced. I went out on a fairly long journey today, and encountered a continuous issue. When cruising at around 65mph and over the car seemed to struggle for power, I seemed to feel it occasionally mildly misfire every 30 minutes or so. I've had the car for around 3 years and have always found it to be rock solid and stable on the road, yet today it was a real worry to feel it struggle in this way. Can anyone suggest what could be causing this or how best to diagnose, thanks.
  9. I've got a radiator leak which m,eans I'm having to put water into it almost daily. I've been quoted £250 to get it replaced and fitted. Having just forked out £850 for a flywheel/ clutch replacement, I can't really afford it. Has anyone used Radweld to fix a radiator leak?
  10. I'm noticing a distinct heat in the car when I enter the car after its been switched off and parked, ether overnight or through the day. Although I can't hear any heater fan running, the car is quite hot, including in the glove box, even though of course it can be colder outside than in the car, with no sunshine on it. Can anyone advise what could be causing this? Its a 2006 1.9td.
  11. Thanks for that. Unsure if i'll bother, looks quite tricky. Annoyed as I just had the car serviced just over a month go, so could have got it sorted then.
  12. The rear cigarette lighter in the Skoda Superb has stopped funtioning. The kids have been using it to charge up game consoles. I can't find it mentioned in the fusebox layout in handbook. Does anyone know where the fuse for it is located? The front lighter socket is working fine by the way.
  13. I have a Skoda Superb Sept 2006 diesel, I need an offside wing mirror. A breaker 40 miles away has one which has come off a 2004 car, don't want to make a wasted trip. Would it fit my 2006 model, my car's wing mirrors do not have built in indicators. Can anyone confirm if it would fit. Any help appreciated
  14. Thanks for the responses, I've managed to swap the wire round and its fixed it. Is the ariel fix essential? I don't seem to have any major problems with reception.
