  1. Hi, I had the roof replaced on my vRS as it leaked, leading to a soaking wet floor. It took 5 weeks and the interior had to be stripped and refitted. Unfortunately, the repair was bodged with a dent left on the cill where a tool had been dropped on it, the leather armrest and seat side bolster burnt by glue and scratches galore on other trim. After some really poor service all round, I lost faith in Skoda having previously owned 5 Octavias and p/x’d the car shortly afterwards. I’m sure the outcome for you will be much happier as the dealer I used did not reflect the high standards I usually got from other Skoda franchises.
  2. They tried that with mine, but it still leaked and eventually needed the entire roof frame to be replaced. Not great as the whole interior has to be removed to get to it. If yours has the same problem as mine did, when it rains heavily, you will see water dripping from the bonnet handle on to the floor. Fingers crossed they fixed yours as mine was repaired so badly (and it took a month) that I ended up selling the car at a loss.
  3. Do you have the panoramic roof? Some have problems resulting in a wet floor.
  4. It may not be a common problem, but I am having problems with the pano roof drainage. My car leaks badly every time it rains, filling up a large towel. I am booked in for warranty repairs but, given it was supposed to have been sorted before I bought the car, I am not optimistic. Water enters the cabin on the passenger side, running down the A pillar and bonnet release handle to the floor. Might be best you check for a damp carpet. If it is dry after the recent weather, I’m sure it will be fine. I’ve been rather underwhelmed with my MK3 with this leak pretty much helping me to make up my mind to dob it in for a Golf GTD estate.
  5. That sounds like there must be a problem. I got 40.6mpg (calculated brim to brim) from my tsi vRS at the last fill up and averaged 35.9mpg over 30,000 miles from my previous mk2 tsi vRS.
  6. Really helpful post. I unplugged mine in 2 minutes and much prefer the natural engine sound.
  7. Thanks for your replies. Got an orthopaedic wedge cushion on order so, hopefully that will do the trick.
  8. Thanks Rob_e and WayTooTall, both very helpful suggestions. Very insightful post from boneman, thanks again.
  9. My petrol vRS was really noisy when I bought it as it had 3 worn Conti's and a cheapo new tyre on the n/s rear. I replaced all 4 last week with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's and it has made a noticeable difference to tyre noise, albeit that I can hear the suspension noise a bit more now.
  10. Yes, trying my best but so far nothing has worked. I love my cars and driving, but this problem is so bad for me that unless I solve it, I may have no alternative other than return it at a loss. I have owned Octavia vRSes for the past 8 years (all mk2) but may have to look elsewhere. Giving myself a couple of days away from the car and will give it another try on Thursday. Such a pity something like this is ruining a great car.
  11. Hi all, I bought a 2014 vRS TSI DSG 2 weeks ago, very reluctantly trading in my immaculate 2010 mk2 fl vRS to help fund the purchase. I really love my new toy, but have got a real problem with the seat which is giving me chronic backache and completely ruining the whole experience. I have driven about 700 miles since I bought the car and adjusted everything countless times to try and alleviate the discomfort (steering, seat height, distance from steering wheel, lumbar support), but simply cannot get comfortable and am on the brink of returning the car to the dealer, no doubt at further great cost to me. I don't have a back problem and after driving my 14 year old Honda Jazz today (not remembered as being the paragon of automotive comfort), I did not have any sign of a backache. I have read a few posts from people experiencing problems with these seats. Has anyone resolved them using an aftermarket seat base bolster or back cushion, which for me would defeat the object of having nice looking sports seats, or offer any advice that might save me from a fit of pique and asking for my money back?
  12. Pretty sure the MK3 has a timing belt rather than chain.
  13. Very well specced car for the money. As others have suggested, try and get an extended warranty thrown in and that will keep the doubts at bay.
  14. Oh yes, when warmed up I use the full Rev range regularly. 51k and never needed a drop of oil between services. Can't have upset the car too much, just sailed through its first MOT today.
  15. Thanks everyone, well informed answers as always leaving me much more reassured.
