  1. Delivered on Friday. Here's a couple of quick pics.
  2. Delivered on Friday from simpsons Preston on the back of a truck. Nothing but good things to say about banco.co.uk, no hassle at all from them and always at the end of the phone to answer any queries. Car is ace, still not really had a proper play with all the tech yet as we also had a little girl delivered on Wednesday. So far nothing to report, other than black is going to be fun to keep clean, see how long I can keep it up. Here's a couple of quick pics.
  3. Buyanewcaronline.co.uk Went to 2 dealers with prices they had quoted and neither of them would get anywhere near what they are offering. I've got a specced up vrs tdi coming next week, for well under the list price for the basic model. (less than 22k) Financed through them too, at 3.something % still worked out cheaper than 0% on prices skoda wanted me to pay. I also looked at a 1.5 year old base spec car at local dealers which was 18500 and quotes were ludacris. Shop around, if youre looking for a car with options you'll need to be prepared to wait for a factory build but you'll get the best deal through a broker, if it's a base spec they'll probably have one in stock and you'll save ££££ without even having to deal with the theives in the big glass houses. Best online base price for a vrs tdi is 18900, about what a 1 year old car is going for. No brained for me.
  4. Just got an update, car has been built and is awaiting transport so should have it within next 2 weeks.[emoji2]
  5. Ordered 7th July which is week 28, been given an anticipated build week of 38 which is 21st Sept, so hopefully a few weeks after that.
  6. Placed an order for a tdi vrs hatch with a few options on the 7th, been told 14 weeks to account for August shutdown, no build week yet to confirm though, still early days. Based on that, will be 2nd week in October. Be nice if it came early as baby is due end of September. Vrs diesel manual hatch, black Pearl, black pack plus with 19" extremes, columbus, canton, heated front seats, spare wheel. Cant wait.
  7. I never followed this up from my last post. Had the alignment rr checked and they adjusted the front toe slightly but was all in spec except the rear lh wheel has too much toe in, a little out of spec. The first alignment I had done when they swapped the tyres for pirellis was fine and in spec so they are now saying that the car pulling to the left is due to some sort of impact damage and won't carry out any more work on my car. Sweet. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  8. 63 plate red on black 105 Tdi. Got it in November I think. Options: mats, cruise, spare wheel, heated seats, amunsden, maxi dot. Have fitted hids, and considering a remap at the minute and maybe some more noise out of the exhaust. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  9. There is exactly what you are talking about already installed on most modern airliners now. The actual "black" boxes are now solid-state and do away with the old fashioned magnetic tape. Furthermore they are (on modern European fleets at least) linked to another recording device, called the quick access recorder, usually in the cockpit, which can store much more information, and is readily downloadable via a memory card. They are not however designed to be survivable in a high g crash, they are more useful for smaller accidents, mishaps or near misses. Sent from my Dyson dc09 using tapatalk.
  10. They won't suddenly pack up after 30 days. That's the specified time that they have to last as a minimum requirement. Sent from my Dyson dc09 using tapatalk.
  11. Got the car back yesterday, done alignment free of charge. Car still pulls to the left, just the same as before. Didn't see the before alignment figures but the car drives exactly the same. Waiting to hear back from skoda. Sent from my Dyson dc09 using tapatalk.
  12. Im going to wait and see what comes of it on monday regarding the alignment. But its a well documented issue and they have agreed its a fault. So if it doesnt get sorted I may look into rejecting the car. I have till the end of May I believe, (6 months old). With the reverse, no unfortunately not. Originally they said they could not find a fault, but on the test drive I pointed it out and he said they would have to removed and strip the gearbox to see if anything was amiss. As I was leaving for america the next day I said i'd leave it for now. Its been reported so I can have the work done whenever is convenient to me. I think its a syncro or baulk issue, not sure if reverse has a syncro on these boxes. Alignement and gear selection are completely unrelated, you can write that idea off.
  13. Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I didn't see the point of a new thread as I'd just end up getting referred to this thread anyway. Id like to share my experiences with my monte carlo. I bought it new, factory ordered last year, arrived in end of November. I noticed It had a tendency to pull to the left on straight roads, so I got in touch with the dealer and got the usual let the car run in a few miles and let things settle. So I ignored it for a while and then I found this thread and the well documented issues. January, approx 1400miles covered, I rang the dealership and explained the problem and the first thing I was asked was does it have dunlop tyres fitted? Yes, it did, so I was expecting them to do the alignment check, swap the tyres and Id be sorted. I also asked them to look at the gear linkage as selecting reverse was very difficult at times. Picked the car up, they had done exactly that, alignment in spec so swapped tyres for new Pirelli P-zero neros. Lovely. On the drive home I noticed the car still had a pull to the left, even though I was told the car had been road tested after tyre fitting before I picked the car up. The car was still cold and there was no mileage showing on the trip computer so I don't think they took the car for a proper drive.... I rung them a few days later and explained the problem was still there. They invited me to bring the car in and go for a test drive with the service manager. I did so, and he drove the car, very sedately, not going over 50 despite a few miles of dual carriageway on one of the worst rutted roads in sheffield with practically no straight sections for an accurate test. He said there was no problem, and everything was as it should be. I dissagreed and had pointed out to him several times during the drive that the steering wheel was falling to the left and the car drifting across to the left. He wrote it off as just following the camber of the road. When I questioned why the fabia estate courtesy car they had given me drove straight as an arrow on the same roads he tried to fob me off saying the montecarlo had a completely different suspension set-up. I quietly accepted and he drove back to the dealership. When we got back to the dealership I quizzed him about how the suspension on the estate could be so different to to monte, it is the same setup, struts at the front and a rear beam, nothing fancy at all. We then talked about camber, toe, castor and all the alignment details after I explained I wasn't just average Joe punter off the street. Im a qualified and licenced aircraft maintenance engineer and have done lots and lots of work on my own cars so I wouldn't be silenced with dealer science and magic. He changed his tune, and said that as the adjustment on the car is pretty limited all they can do is get it into spec. If the castor is out there is no adjustment, not even moving the subframe fore/aft as i suggested. He mentioned a last resort of bending the inner wings, but I dont know what that would achieve really. And he told me there Is no adjustment on the rear beam, which is where I suspect the problem lies. I took the car back, and I went to amercia for a month and forgot about it. On returning, I did a few longer journeys in the car and the pulling is really annoying and a nuisance now. It gets tiring having to put constant pressure on the wheel to hold it straight and has made my fingers numb on occasion. I rang another dealer local to where I work and explained the situation and that I disagreed with the previous dealers opinion. They agreed to take it on, and when I dropped the car off they said they drove it and agreed it pulled more than following the camber of the road. Great news I thought. This was a friday afternoon. They had originally said I would be able to collect the car the following day, but rung me saturday lunchtime saying their alignment machine was out of actioned and would be getting repaired/calibrated on the monday. Fair enough I thought, I could make plans for alternative transport and I was happy the car was being looked at. I got a call monday lunchtime expecting it to be to come and collect the car and they had done the work the said they would. I was told by the service department that because the issue had been worked on and "rectified" by a previous dealership under warranty that they would not be able to carry out the work on warranty and would have to charge me to carry out the wheel alignment check. They said the only way it would be covered under warranty would be if the previous dealership had made a mistake, so requested that I get a copy of the report for them to look over. Very annoying for 2 reasons, first the last dealership had not rectified the fault obviously as I had reported it to them as still being an issue, and 2 they could have told me this friday afternoon or saturday and I would not have lost my car for the full weekend. So I collected my car monday, annoyed and went to work. I called the dealership that had done the alignment (dealer A) and requested the report, and had it faxed to the other dealers as they had requested. I also called Skoda customer care and they have opened a case with the issue. This morning I got a call from dealer B saying skoda had agreed to cover the cost of the alignment and asked me to bring the car in next monday, so the car is booked in for them to collect. I also got a call a few minutes later from the case manager saying the same, and added that if there was no fault with the alignment then they would not be any further action and the case would be closed as they could not change anything else on the car. Now, i'm pretty sure the wheel alignment will check out fine as the car has always felt the same, but I'm not happy to accept the car as it is, especially as this dealer has confirmed there is a fault with the car pulling more than is normal. I'll report back next week, but has anybody else got this far, I'm very interested in more details of people having the rear beam replaced as was mentioned a while back in this thread. Cheers, Kieron.
