I have a personal plate but want to put a plain age related plate on the car to sell it. If I use the DVLA online system to put the personal number on retention does DVLA issue a new "old" number online or do I have to do something else? I have looked at the DVLA website but cannot find what happens after taking a reg number off. Thanks in advance,David

As this is about front suspension I would ask anyone who may be knowledgeable about this area to look at my post on suspension mounts looking odd. Apologies for breaking any rules on posting but I need the help.

Where the front suspension joins the chassis at the mountings under the bonnet there are chassis points that look like dog feeding bowls with a large cup washer with a black surround containing a nut sitting in them. Is there a difference between the driver side and passenger side mounts? On my 2003 pd130 estate the drivers side cup is fully into the bowl but the passenger side is proud of the bowl by about 3 to 4 mm. Both nuts appear to be at the same thread depth on the bolts. Car handles normally. Forgive my lack of knowledge and inaccuracies in description. Do I have a suspension problem? Thanks for any advice,Dave

There are a few "nearly new" 140 and 170 Outdoors for sale at the moment. I am tempted to replace my ageing Octy with a DSG Yeti but only if I can extend the Skoda warranty. Would this be possible on a pre-reg vehicle with low miles or would I be forced into the independent warranty market? Thanks for any advice/pearls of wisdom,Oldnewbie up a windy hill in Knighton. I have been living with the common drivers door window motor/control box problems but want to fix them by replacing the motor and the unit attached to it. I have stripped down the door so that I can see the motor but its partially hidden by metalwork so how do I get to it from here? I can find posts on getting to the motor and examining the connector but I can't find any on how to remove the motor unit once you have got to it. The only post I found showed a video of a LHD VW window which was no help. Vehicle is a 2003 Elegance estate. Thanks for reading this.

Had to sign in for a rare post and rant. Just had one of my occasional looks at the Skoda website and ended up at the "Offers" page. Why don't they just put "If we can sell it, it isn't on offer" Guess I'll be keeping the old faithfull Octy 1 a bit longer. End of rant and a Happy New Year to all.

If I find a used Skoda on the Skoda website at a dealer miles from me is it possible to make the purchase through a dealer closer to me? I suspect the answer is "no" as both the dealer that has the car and the dealer who I would like to do business with will both want to make a profit. Anyone done it? JCB Skoda at Basildon don't appear on the Skoda dealer search anymore. Its not that important but does anyone know what happened as JCB still seem to be active in Kent with other brands?

I am thinking of replacing my faithful 2003 130PD Estate with a 4x4. Lliving up a hill which gets a bit slippy from time to time, as do the lanes near me, I think four wheel drive may come in handy. Because I do low mileage I am thinking of going for the 1.8TSI as opposed to the 2.0CR as I have an old Landy for any towing duties. Other than the difference in mpg is there anything else I should beware of with the petrol version? Thanks for your views,Dave

The fuel filler flap on my Elegance Estate has stopped opening properly.I suspect it is usually popped open by a spring when the solenoid operates and either the spring is dead or broken.The solenoid still makes a healthy clunk. I need to remove the rear trim to take a look but would like to know where to start.Do I have to take off the rear speaker unit above the trim or will the trim just pull out? Thanks in advance,Dave

My drivers seat belt tongue goes into the buckle only if I hold down the red plastic buckle release at the same time and then let the plastic up.It then holds fine and releases when the plastic is pressed as normal. This happened out of the blue one day and I have no idea why. The car is a 2003 1.9 PD130 Estate and so has seat belt warning fitted. Is it possible to replace the seat belt buckle assembly as a DIY job?
