  1. I have had 2 Octavia VRs and solved this in both by using a hole punch to add drain holes to the bottom of the rubber seal around the opening. is just above the bumper. I found the seal tube was always full of water after rain and the only way out it had was through the pin size hole on the top. This then seemed find its way to the wheel well and was enough to fill it. I couldn't believe that much water could get in that way but it has solved the problem twice for me. Hope that helps.
  2. I had that on my 07 last year. It turned out to be a broken connection somewhere around the bulkhead. Can't remember how much it cost, it was less than I had worried it was going to be, but it took an auto electrician a bit of investigation to track it down. Rob.
  3. Holes in the bottom of the bubber seal solved my water in the wheel well problem. I used a leather punch and cut about half a douzen holes along the bottom. I just pinched the rubber seal and put the bottom half in the punch and cut the holes that way. I preferred the round holes as I felt it would start to tear at a corner of the hole in the furture. Another thing I did was to remove one of the rubber 'door stops' from the left of the tail gate. I park on the road, so with the camber, my car leans to the left. After really heavy rain, water drain from here (sometimes quite a lot when I open the boot). I don't seem to get any metal on metal contact without this one stop. Hope the above helps. Rob.
  4. Just to stress, D M Keith did not replace my injectors, so they didn't mess up with that. They just seem to unaware of any problems with the injectors when I talk to them. This did lead to me breaking down on the A1, but I'll see what they can come up with on Friday when they have my car. My injectors were replaced by Hortons Skoda in Lincoln (nearest to where I broke down). It is a long way to go there and I have also had a service done there which was not successful so I will try my luck elsewhere... I'll report back next weekend!
  5. Hi Steve, I notice your location is Huddersfield, can I ask if you have been talking to D M Kieth in Huddersfield about this? I called them yesterday and told them That my car had been showing the DPF light roughly weekly since the injectors were changed in February, whereas I had not seen the light once in the previous 4 years. The service chap told me he had never heard of the injector replacement causing this and couldn't imagine how it could cause these problems! They didn't replace the injectors as they told me at the time they were unaware of any problems despite all the posting at the time on here. A couple of weeks later, my car broke down on the A1 with... injector failure. Funnily enough the RAC man had heard of the injector problems and that was his first check. He then towed the car to Skoda in Lincoln who had also heard of the problem and replaced the injectors under warranty. Thanks, Rob.
  6. After having my fuel filter replaced at my last Skoda dealer service, I had a diesel leak from the top of the filter housing. (57 Octy VRs 105,000 miles) My idependent mechanic who looks after my other car said he had seen a couple of these cars that have had leaks here after the filter had been replaced. My leak also destroyed the alternator belt. The dealer (70 miles away) sent a truck to pick up my car and left me a courtesy car. Everything was sorted for me free of charge and my car returned. I hope you can get your car sorted out. It does seem to be a known (if not admitted) problem with the fuel filter housing so I would hope the dealer / Skoda will do the right thing.
  7. Had mine done at Hortons of Lincoln, I don't live there, it was the closest dealer to the point at which the old injectors packed up. They managed to fit me in that day, service was outstanding. The fuel economy is much imporved, car is smoother and no problems in the 5k miles since then. In fact my recent MOT had an advisory that the emissions were too low to measure. I just wish I'd had the injectors for the previous 100k miles, I could have saved a fortune with the improved fuel economy. Bottom line is that I would very much recommend getting the injectors changed. Hope that helps, Rob
  8. Thanks for the replies. It sounds very much like it is the dashpod problem as Manyo says. I also remembered something like the ----- until I had driven a certain distance but wasn't sure so that is also very useful. I fact this time, before I even started the engine at the dealer's it was showing 9300 miles. I do intend to take the car to another dealers in future as this has come after many visits for them to find the collapsed vacuum pipe and leaking manifold, which gave the "Take to workshop message". They first tried to fix this with an ecu update which I think was the start of the service interval problems (probably both ecu and dashpod were set to fixed before on more recent visits they reset ecu but not dashpod??). Don't worry, if this doesn't get sorted on my next visit, I will be kicking off about it. Anyway thanks again for your help. All the best, Robert.
  9. I would like any insight anyone can give with regards to a problem I am having following a long life service. The mileage to next service was showing as 9300 miles immediately after the service. Now, from my first two long life services, I got 18500 miles, then the next one I only got 9300 miles, I assumed that this was due to a problem I had where there was a collapsed vacuum hose and a leak from the manifold. This was fixed under the warranty. However, I have now had the car serviced again and I was getting the same 9300 miles shown immediately after the service. I phoned the dealer and they said that the car must have been set to short life service accidentally and to bring it back. I have now taken the car back and once again, when I check the miles to next service, it says 9300 miles. This distance drops at the rate I am driving the miles. I have spoken to the dealer again and they assure me they checked the setting for long life service was correct. They suggested just leaving the service until I have done about 18500 miles after suggesting I had changed my driving style (which I haven't). I wasn't really happy with this suggestion and although it may be a small thing, I would like it putting right. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Robert.
  10. I got the wrong tool in both my Fabia VRs and Octavia VRs (wire instead of plastic) The plastic tool costs about 70p from the dealers (it was certainly < £1).
  11. At the end of the day, it is your company's clients/customers who pay for the car.... so surely they would rather see you turn up in something that makes economic sense. Maybe that argument would work. Or maybe whoever made this decision is happy with the image that your company charges customers extra so your colleagues can drive "flash" badges. Years ago, when I worked in manufacturing, our buyer used to check out the window what car salesmen had turned up in before going to collect them from reception. He felt it gave him a good indication how much that company was making out of us. Good luck!
  12. Right, I am a little more comfortable now. I've had a relatively short drive this morning 1.5hours and only have a slight ache in the right of my backside. I have been experimenting with the seat positions and have it pretty much as I always have a seat which is quite well back (for a short person). I have now found my best position for my foot on the accelerator pedal is to have my heel between the brake and accelerator and a tiny amount back from the bottom of the accelerator pedal. I am then pressing the pedal with the centre line of my foot running up the left hand side of the pedal. However, the main discovery I made once I got to work is that there is a solid bar running across the seat close to the back rest. On the VRs seat, there is th light grey front panel and then behind that, there are three black panels. When I press my fingers into the one nearest the backrest, about half way back there is a solid bar running the full width not far below the surface. I think this bar might be meeting the bone in my skinny backside and causing my pain. Do other people have this bar in their Vrs seat? Thanks, Rob.
  13. kprida77, I have found there are better seat positions but I've not found anything completely comfortable yet. Tonight I tried another adjustment and was soon in even more pain. I expect I will get a reasonable position when it is time for a service and the mechanic changes the seat. I've owned 9 different cars and driven many hire cars, various vans and even race cars and always got in made a quick adjustment to the seat and been comfortable for extended periods. My other car is a little Suzuki Cappuccino and I can drive that for hours on end just stopping to fill up. So it looks like I've now found the one car that doesn't fit me. I've decided I'll give it another week before I make a decision. If I just can't get comfortable, I think I'll be looking at going back to a Fabia VRs. Anyway I hope you can get sorted as I quite literally feel your pain! All the best, Rob.
  14. I have noticed that I sit very slightly to the right of the seat and it is my right leg that starts to ache. If I look at the side bolsters while I am sat naturally in the seat, I can see more of the left one than the right one. (VRs seats by the way) If I take my feet off the pedals and hands of the steering wheel (while parked!!), sit dead centre and then put my hand on the wheel and feet on the pedals, I seem to be facing slightly to the right rather than straight ahead. Having adjusted the seat over and over, I have a more comfortable position in that I now get an ache on the right of my backside, rather than the pain all down my thigh, but I am now thinking this is more a function of the seat rather than pedals maybe.
  15. I have exactly the same problem. I am 5' 6" (and don't play rugby). I've only had my Octavia VRs two weeks (traded in a Fabia VRs) and have found the car really uncomfortable compared to the Fabia. My girlfriend has even commented that the passenger seat is less comfortable than the Fabia. I have exactly the same problem with a pain in the leg. I have tried all sorts of seat positions. Some are better than others but after about and hour all become uncomfortable. I spend at least 25 hours a week driving so really need somewhere comfortable to sit. I am thinking of going back to a Fabia VRs at the moment.
