  1. Yes, I know that. But the edit option isn't there.. See....
  2. That should read 185000 miles! (For some reason I'm not getting an option to allow me to edit my post)
  3. I miss my VRS dearly. Sold it last year for the pricely sum of £1200. Considering the age (2003 53 Reg) & mileage (18500) is was in very very good condition. Photos taken one week before I sold it........
  4. Hi Guys. Just a quick update to say I manage to get hold of a friends Ancel device & it cleared the code straight off. Was one of the cheap versions that they dont make any more but was very easy to use. Might spend the £45 & get the VD500 as I think they work very well.
  5. What about something like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/THZY-reader-Reader-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B0788KYY4Q/ref=sr_1_9?crid=BUYRXY4PJGKY&keywords=vcds+volkswagen&qid=1579119126&sprefix=vcds%2Caps%2C155&sr=8-9 For the price that seems too good to be true (or work!)
  6. Thanks for the help Wino, Im really greatful. My old (current) cable has never worked for anything but reading engine faults. I've used it on a VW Passat 2003, Skoda Fabia Mk1 2003 & my Wifes Golf Plus Mk5 2005. I always put the issue down to the cable being a bit kak (cheap!)
  7. hhmm, I now a bit unsure about this. The one that is in the link seems no different to the one I've already got. It also looks a lot like ones that are £5 on eBay & I do dislike paying 'over the odds' for the same thing that’s 1/4 of the price elsewhere. Another thing that caught my eye was that on that site, it says that its compatible with cars from 1996 to 2003. My wifes car is a Golf Plus Mk5 2005. I didn’t know if this going to be an issue. Additionally, when looking through eBay, a lot of them state that they are NOT compatible with Golf Plus Mk5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Diagnostic-Tool-USB-Cable-KKL-VCDS-lite-409-1-OBD-fits-Audi-Seat-Skoda/273779399535 So if anyone can other further advice, it would be appreciated. Ta
  8. Thanks. That's perfect. I'm using Vcds Lite, that should scan other modules besides just the engine one shouldn't it.
  9. Ok, I've got a VERY old VAG-Com cable that I purchased on ebay some 15 years ago. Its one of those really cheap blue ones. It still works, but it only clears engine fault codes - it cannot detect any other modules in on my car (or my wifes VW Golf for that matter) So, what I want is a VCDS cable that can clear fault codes from other modules - not just the engine one. For example, I had to remove my wifes glove box from her 2005 VW Golf Plus. This meant I had to disconnect the airbag on/off key switch, this in turn has thrown an airbag light issue on the dash, which I cannot remove with my current VAG-Com lead. There are more expensive (and better quality) ones on eBay & from Amazon - can anyone recommend a particular one? All I want is the ability to read & clear faults, don't care about the other options you get.
  10. Hi guys, just wonder if anyone out there has a bit more knowledge of this problem? I used to own a Skoda Fabia VRS & I found this forum extremly helpfull. However, I dont own it anymore but my wife has a 1.9tdi Golf Plus which is very similar. Anyway, the internal air blower system decided to self destruct! The fan blower bearings went which inturn blew the fuse relay. So I've replaced the fan & relay but noticed the Air Con Heater Vent Flap motor wasnt moving. Does anyone know if the motor has a fuse or does it look like it needs replacing? I've taken it off & the Cog/Gear is solid - no moment at all. I suspect this shouldnt be the case. On a side note, because I've removed the glovebox l, I had to disconnect the airbag. Unfortunately, because I turned on the ignition witout it being connected, I now have an airbag error light on the dash. Is there anyway to clear this without VCDS?
  11. I've replaced my regulator twice & the lock twice & without using the plastic arm to mount the lock, its a massive PITA. You will invent new swear words trying to get the hanger around the lock pin, plus the lock electric cable is too short,
  12. Probably not really helpful, but I tried one of those repair kits for the window regulator & it was but a royal PITA!!. Tried for hours to get it working correctly & it just didnt work right. So, I just got one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-6Y-MK1-1999-08-FRONT-LEFT-SIDE-WINDOW-REGULATOR-WITH-PANEL-6Y1837461/131708777344?hash=item1eaa747380:g:m2cAAOSwg2xZeGFc Easy job, straight swap. Word of advice though. Make sure you unbolt the door lock from the door & mount it onto the plastic assembly guide arm when re-fitting. It makes the job so much easier & you dont have to fight with anything when re-fitting the ancillaries hanger.
  13. Brilliant! I'll PM you well in advanced to see if you can squeeze me in!! Cant make it on the next few weekends though - family comitments. With the up-coming warm weather, I'll carring a bottle of brake fluid in the car as a precaution! 😬
  14. That would be awesome. However, I'm at work Mon to Fri & only around after 5.30 in the evening. If evenings arent any good, how about a Saturday? Obvously I'll compensate you for your time.
