  1. Then just set up 26 smart folders in iTunes to give you the songs beginning with each letter. The benefit of the iPod lead for me is that I can use an iPod Touch - leave it in the car and sync it via WiFi so it never needs to be unplugged and it always has the latest music I bought as it will download them automatically through iCloud.
  2. USB cables won't work with the Apple devices as the music is not presented in a simple file system and some of the music may be restricted to authenticated devices. Apple get fond this by providing high quality digital audio out from the device and these lines can't be carried by USB. I found the iPod cable cheap on eBay if that helps.
  3. VW USA are recalling 2.0l CR Diesel engined cars - which has me a little worried as that's what I have What's the chance that this will affect the European vehicles? There's a press release at http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/06/vw-and-audi-recall-nearly-170-000-tdi-diesel-models/#continued Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s): AUDI / A3 2010-2012 VOLKSWAGEN / GOLF 2010-2012 VOLKSWAGEN / JETTA 2009-2012 VOLKSWAGEN / JETTA SPORTWAGEN 2009-2012 Manufacturer: VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC Mfr's Report Date: SEP 30, 2011 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V490000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL Potential Number of Units Affected: 168,275 Summary: VOLKSWAGEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL 2009-2012 JETTA AND JETTA SPORTWAGEN VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 2008 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2011, MODEL YEAR 2010-2012 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 2009 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2011, AND MODEL YEAR 2010-2012 AUDI A3 VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 2009 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2011, THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH A 2.0L TDI COMMON RAIL DIESEL ENGINE/CLEAN DIESEL ENGINE. THE FUEL INJECTION PULSES COULD COINCIDE WITH THE NATURAL FREQUENCY OF THE INJECTOR LINE #2, IN SPECIFIC LOAD AND RPM CONDITIONS. THIS RESONANCE CREATES ADDITIONAL STRESS IN THE FUEL LINE. Consequence: DUE TO THE RESONANCE CONDITION, INJECTOR LINE NUMBER 2 COULD DEVELOP SMALL CRACKS WHICH COULD LEAD TO FUEL LEAKAGE. LEAKING FUEL IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, MAY LEAD TO A FIRE. Remedy: VOLKSWAGEN WILL INSTALL AN IMPROVED FUEL INJECTOR LINE FOR THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER AND WILL INSTALL VIBRATION DAMPERS ON ALL OF THE INJECTOR LINES. VOLKSWAGEN AND AUDI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS TO HAVE THE VEHICLES REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987. Notes: VOLKSWAGEN RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 23J9/V5. OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
  4. I just did a quick google and found http://forums.eye.fi/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=372&sid=c86cf6bb803cadd7c1841f486d509c29&start=45#p13091 This is a link to one of the EyeFi engineers basically saying that they're never going to work the other way around. You may wish to consider an iPod touch with the MDI interface and jailbreak it so that you can install air sync.
  5. Check the policy. It may not have a limit on the number of trips and the wording may be such that it's trips are limited to 90days or less each but the number of trips is not limited. That's what I was just quoted for so you could go away 10 times and spend 35 days away each time - and still be fully insured!
  6. Not as silly as it sounds - was the front. Guy in front of me slammed on the brakes because he though he'd crash and I slowly edged onto the roundabout only to find him in my way So I need to repair / replace the parking sensor clip/housing just to the left of the number plate. Any guides / part numbers available - i've searched but may not have used the right search strings. Ta, M@t : o )
  7. I love my whippy. But then I do drive in an area where my favourite station is poor - so I'm not going to change. The diversity antennae make a big difference - the previous car dropped signal regularly. The Octavia usually keeps signal all the time It's going to be down to you - if you like the radio but are on the fringes of acceptable reception then swapping for a smaller aerial is possibly going to hurt performance - otherwise go for it.
  8. Having waited all day for an appointment... From www.autowindscreens.co.uk On 14 February 2011, M J Cowlishaw, D L Z Wong, and C J Farrington of Deloitte LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Auto Windscreens Limited (“the Company”) and now manage the affairs, business and property of the Company. 9. And a Diesel Particulate Filter is nothing to worry about if the car is driven in the nature that makes diesel more economical. In the 7 month or 12,000 miles I've had my vRS I've never seen the DPF regen.
  10. I also use the lance to apply a thicker measure of detergent without the snow foam additive. It makes the wash a little quicker as I can spary on a thick layer of detergent once the car is basically clean and use a mit and clean bucket to finish it off fully.
  11. That's the cheaper of their bluetooth options. There's also a fully integrated option which is normally installed under the seat and integrates fully with the Bolero and Maxidot. Fiscon also do a similar kit which is slightly more featured and more compatible than the older Skoda bluetooth options.
  12. I can confirm that - although I ended up leaving an old iPod nano in the glovebox as it's a bit of hassle reaching into the glovebox to plug the phone in each day. A cheap 8Gb iPod sorts the problem out nicely.
  13. I've not noticed any of the above and I'm at about 11k miles so far. Far from poor customer support from Skoda I've had great support from the dealer.
  14. Unless you go for a fixed price service/maintenance plan when VWFS will insist on Variable servicing and will decline the dealer's attempt to claim for a first fixed service.
  15. I find it's when I am in traffic and I want to move off without planning it - if I can pre-empt the car needing to be in great then it's as smooth as. Same with sitting on hills. I love the DSG
