  1. Hi Coiner and all, The car in question belongs to moi! ..got your pm re above question cheers mate -thanks for having a look. ..thought I'd reply here... I bought the dragon box after a good bit of research and positive feedback on this forum. I installed it myself - easy process of disconecting multiplug from engine block and reconnecting the two ends of the Dragon box loom between. The unit then requires power from the battery. I initially set the unit to level 10 (out of 16) later increasing to 14 once I was comfortable there were no problems. I have always been a regular user of the Millers Diesel Power Ecomax product (mentioned by Phil above) the best cetane booster / detergent I know of. I would generally add a measure every other fuelling. I also tend to use super unleaded from Shell or BP who poss use better (more beneficial) additives than others. I am told this helps to keep the engine and turbo in good condition - clean! so in theory sooting should not be a problem. Oh, and I cleaned the intercooler and pipes out last year. Cotton Green air filter was regularly cleaned and lightly oiled (with green filter oil only). Cars that have been modified to some degree always (understandably) generate caution in a buyer. I know I reject a TT i was tempted by that had been heavily modified a few months back. But I would say most of the people I know of that have modified cars treat their cars much better than the average unmodified and tend to know much more about their car. I never cut corners with this car re repairs etc. I would always go OEM or better often paying a lot more money for uprated parts that I believed would last longer i.e Sachs performance clutch and Jabbasport smfw etc. The car was my pride and joy for 7 years - not flogged to death! ..I still have the Dragon Box if anybody is interested - poss a nice little fix-it project for anyone good with electronics? Poss a failed cap? If coiner doesn't want it than anyone else PM me and you can have it for free! Andy
  2. Thanks I've had a few enquiries - people have confirmed viewings then not turned up!? Can't understand as its a great price, fantastic condition and perfect for someone who wants a descent economy/performance for little money! Good potential for re-map / modifying on this one too. Maybe I've been a little too honest in description? Oh well - not desperate for money - guess just need to wait. Good luck
  3. There are some strange characters on Autotrader! ..no sell yet. I have my Fabia listed on Autotrader for £4450. I'm moving in two week and would really like to sell before then for obvious reasons. I would far rather sell to someone on Briskoda as i feel i can trust them a bit more ..so I'm reducing the price on here to £4000!! Anybody? P.s I didn't mention that the interior is in fantastic condition inc the drivers seat (no bobbling of fabric).
  4. Just to confirm that the timing belt and water pump were replaced at 60586 miles. I also had a full gearbox rebuild at a cost of £1366 at 61282 miles. July 2009 was when I had the Sachs performance clutch and Jabba single mass flywheel fitted. I have all receipts. Andy
  5. Thanks Dale, Hi, the engine runs beautifully. There is no hesitation all sounds and feels as good as it did when I bought it. You will notice that at idle in neutral the single mass flywheel gives an audible chatter - but this is totally normal and I quite like it. I am absolutely confident that the dragon box has not caused any adverse effect on the car/engine. As for the cambelt - I'm sure I had it done back at 60k ish - but I will need to check the documentation to confirm. I cant do this until I'm back from Devon on Wednesday sadly though. Andy
  6. 2005 Black magic Fabia VRS. 71K miles (Leeds uk) 12 months Tax next MOT not due until June 2013 Serviced April 2012 SOLD for 3800 !!!! Not wanting to sound too cliched, but this has been a brilliant well loved car! I have owned it from new. It has only been run tuned with a dragon digi box (set to 14 out of 16 power levels) from 20k miles. The dragon box died at 50k miles and the car has since been run standard (un tuned). I was intending to do a hybrid turbo and fmic upgrade with Jabba hence the move to sachs performance clutch and single mass flywheel. But, alas after seven years I got the itch and bought a 350z. My garage always comment on what a good car it is and couldn't understand why I would want to sell it. Its had both a service and MOT in the last month and Ive just taxed it for 12 months (until June 2013) Documentation: Ok so I have not always had the log book stamped due to my own stupidity (not leaving logbook in car when serviced). But, I do have service receipts and breakdowns of work done. I also have all MOT certificates and many other documents and receipts. I even have the original letter of purchase and Fabia VRS marketing material. The car was serviced solely by Skoda for the first 3 years then by a VAG independent. Modifications: Jabba sport ARB Jabba sport single mass flywheel (will not fail like a dual mass - half the weight - better performance) Sachs Performance clutch (will take more torque - harder map) PD 160 intake (original fabia vrs intake included with sale if you want to return to standard) Green cotton filter (inc cleaning fluid and green oil - I'm including an original paper filter too) ..Perfect start for a strong re-map or hybrid build. Other extras: OEM Boot liner (optional extra) VRS centre caps on alloys Aero wipers (original standard ones included) Optional vertical space saving Cup holder (must have option!) Rear window tint. Uprated main beam, dip and indicator bulbs in from headlight cluster (to best available at time). Obligatory briskoda.net stickers on rear passenger windows. Bodywork all standard and in good condition bar for two small (barely noticeable) carpark door dents. ..so frustrating!! Tyres: Front pair: Michelin PS3 tyres 4mm+ Rear pair: Pirelli P Zero Nero 5mm+ Bad things.. 2 alloys marked - though might try to get these repaired. MOT (May 2012 just done).. advisory - disks are marked/pitted (now I think that this is in part due to the car being sat un-used for a week (when I picked up my new 350z) and my garage only being 300m down the road - hence no chance for rust to be polished off!? Rear bump stop perished. PM me if you are interested. Andy
  7. is thinking about a 350z ..??

  8. Hi, I can recommend Sultas Auto Specialists - they specialise in VW group and Honda. Ive got a Fabia VRS and have been very happy with their service and prices. I know GSF on Kirkstall road get their fleet serviced there (they recommended to me). Their address: LS4 2BE - down the side road next to Machine Mart under Viaduct on Kirkstall Road.
  9. My 2005 Fabia VRS is broken again! I've had to shell out for a new clutch and Gearbox in the last 4 months ..so like my Furby - Im not happy :-( Anyway - just wondering if anyone has an idea or could give me a pointer.. The car went into limp mode whilst accelerating onto a slip road. I eventually got to an exit and at a set of traffic lights turned the engine off - thinking it might re-set the Limp mode. Instead the engine did absolutely nothing when turning the key. All the general electrics work - but the starter did not turn / no solenoid sound or even fuel pressure up sound. Basically there is no life to the engine what so ever!? Any ideas? ..Im going out to visually check the wiring continuity / fuses now and look for anything unusual. Aghhhh!
  10. Thanks for this.. a good cheap and easy mod. I found the crimp just needed loosening slightly with a screwdriver to remove as mentioned before. I simply re crimped it with those generic black nail/tack plier removers - the sort everybody has in their toolkit. I have no rotation - perfect and simple. again, great mod - compliments my new Sachs clutch - much better feel.
  11. First off I would love VAG-COM but I don't have a laptop or the money spare at the mo. What I do want is a portable code reading device I can leave in the car. I've seen a few devices on ebay including MEMOSCAN U280, U281 and Autel VAG305 (@£30ish). But I am interested in spending a bit more on the new MEMOSCAN U585 or Autel VAG405 which offer a bit more (@£90ish). Any recommendations / experiences? are they worth the extra ££s for the features? I came across this site that offers a good range of diagnostic products at decent prices including the above on www autotec-direct com.. VW/Audi, Seat Skoda Cheers Andy
  12. This is what I have gone for.. + bit of blue threadlock to be on the safe side. I'll become a freedom member; thats for sure:thumbup:
  13. ..update - thanks for all your help guys! ..owe you a beer or two. Seems my workplace has a mechanical maintenance dept. They had a whole load of Helicoil kits. They did not have 12 X 1.5, but did have 12 x 1.75. As I had no time or transport had to go with this. they also supplied hi-tensile bolts. Job was not too bad. It all fits back well and tight. Been out for a drive and a good braking - feels good - bolts tight after. See my pics of the job attached. Two questions though (if I may): 1. My tapping was not completely straight - but very near. When tight the bolt head seems to lay flat, but before tightening one side of the bolt head touches first on the way in. Is this a problem? 2. The thread pitch is dif. from manufacturers original. Thread is slightly deeper but 2 less threads. Adv. so far seems to be should be fine - anyone know diff? ..just like to be informed. Andy
  14. Thanks for the great info! Will try to see if I can get a kit - did not expect a fix! Finding it hard to locate one in leeds area via the web. Any chains that may have it in stock? ..where should I go?
