  1. Only for 3 days. Have always had successful sales using them. Welcome to Briskoda.
  2. Sold my beloved car today, first person who responded to the Autotrader ad paid the asking price (£9200). It was immaculate and had only done 31000 miles. At least I know it's going to a good home. I'm now carless until my new Tiguan arrives in a couple of weeks time. I've already joined the Tiguan Mk2 owners forum and it appears to be just as good Briskoda!
  3. Renewed both cars a month ago.....£156 for the vRS and £120 for the Yaris. Still with Saga and cheaper than the previous year! I'm 67 and the wife a little more (daren't say what), and we both have a totally unblemished driving record of 50 years. I'd be very surprised if anyone has a cheaper quote for the vRS.
  4. Thanks Nickgpfc. At least I now know for sure it's off the car. Will have a look tomorrow and try to see where it comes from. Can't imagine why it's suddenly become dislodged. The only thing that's been done to the car in the last month is a Hunter alignment, prior to that it was laid up for 4 months while I was abroad.
  5. Does anyone recognise this? I found it in the drivers footwell below the brake pedal when giving the carpets a brush. It's made of fairly soft rubber and looks to me as some sort of buffer. I can't see any sign of where it could have come from under the dashboard or the pedals but can't imagine where else it could have come from. It's really bugging me now.
  6. Latest press release from VW Next step in solving the NOx exhaust emissions issue in Europe Minor hardware measures for the 1.6TDI engines 2.0 TDI engines only need a software update Target: no adverse effects on fuel consumption and performance Wolfsburg, November 25, 2015 – The clarification and solution of the diesel issue is progressing. The Volkswagen Group has presented specific technical measures for the EA 189 engines affected with a displacement of 1.6 and 2.0 litres to the Federal Motor Transport Authority. This means that correction measures have been fixed for the majority of the vehicles affected. In the development of the solutions, the focus was on maximum customer-friendliness. After implementation of the technical measures, the vehicles will comply with the applicable emissions standards. The final technical solution for the 1.2-litre diesel engine will be presented to the Federal Motor Transport Authority at the end of the month and is expected to comprise a software update. The technical measures developed for the EA 189 diesel engines affected have been presented to the Federal Motor Transport Authority. Following an intensive examination, these measures have been ratified by the Federal Motor Transport Authority. This means that there is now clarity regarding the correction of the irregularities for the majority of vehicles affected. A “flow transformer” will be fitted directly in front of the air mass sensor on the 1.6-litre EA 189 engine. This is a mesh that calms the swirled air flow in front of the air mass sensor and will thus decisively improve the measuring accuracy of the air mass sensor. The air mass sensor determines the current air mass throughput, which is a very important parameter for the engine management for an optimum combustion process. In addition, a software update will be performed on this engine. The time needed for the implementation of the technical measures is expected to be less than one hour. The 2.0 litre engines will get a software update. The pure labour time for this measure will be around half an hour. Thanks to advances in engine development and improved simulation of currents inside complex air intake systems, in combination with software optimisation geared towards this, it has been possible to produce a relatively simple and customer-friendly measure. The objective for the development of the technical measures is still to achieve the applicable emission targets in each case without any adverse effects on the engine output, fuel consumption and performance. However, as all model variants first have to be measured, the achievement of these targets cannot yet be finally confirmed. Based on these technical measures accepted by the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the necessary service concepts are currently being developed for the EU28 markets concerned. The aim is to implement the required technical update in the first vehicles during a recall from January 2016. According to the current assessment, all measures in the course of the recall for all engine variants will extend over the whole calendar year 2016. Volkswagen will ensure that the time needed to implement the technical measures is as short as possible for all customers. In addition, Volkswagen will contact all customers and endeavour to consider individual customer needs during the implementation of these measures to avoid any disadvantages for the customer such as possible curbing of their mobility. In connection with this, the Volkswagen brand will thus ensure that all customers are offered appropriate replacement mobility options free of charge. For example, since the beginning of October, all Volkswagen customers have been able to check for themselves whether their vehicle is affected by the diesel issue. At www.volkswagen.de/info <http://www.volkswagen.de/info> every customer can enter their vehicle identification number to obtain clear information. With these defined measures, technical solutions are already available for the majority of all Group models affected in Europe with EA 189 engines. At the end of this month, corresponding measures will be presented to the Federal Motor Transport Authority for the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine as well. Based on the approach of the Volkswagen brand, the Group's other brands – Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – are also planning corresponding measures for their affected vehicles. In addition, until 31 December 2016, Volkswagen AG is expressly forgoing the right to plea on the grounds of statutes of limitations in respect of any warranty or guarantee claims due to the software installed in vehicles with EA 189 engines, as long as the rights to make any such claims have not already expired. Volkswagen customers will therefore not be disadvantaged by any waiting. One thing is certain: the vehicles remain technically safe and can therefore be driven on public roads without any limitation. 7. The blade on mine has always parked just below the chassis number display, it's been like that from new. The position in your photo is definitely not right and looks most odd. It looks the two blades might even make contact with each other at the start and end of a sweep.
  8. The connector in the photo is for the bonnet open warning light and audible signal. If you maxidot it shows on the diagram of the car on the display or, if you don't have it, a symbol lights up on the instrument cluster. I can only guess that the switch is faulty. It is obviously "live" when the bonnet is open and the previous owner unplugged it to stop the light and audible signal coming on all the time the bonnet was actually shut. Try reconnecting it and see what happens with the bonnet open and shut. If you have the owners manual it's explained on page 24 and 33. I'm sure someone else will answer and explain how to fix it.
  9. Have a full size 18" Neptune alloy and 225/50/18 tyre, as a spare. It doesn't sit high in the wheel well at all. Worth the expense as I often drive in Germany and the thought of ever having to drive at 50mph on the autobahn after a puncture and be the slowest vehicle on the road...enough said.
  10. I think you will find the 5 year interval only applies to vehicles registered after September 1st 2010, otherwise it's still 4 years.
  11. My local dealer has said the change from 4 to 5 years is for cars REGISTERED from 1st September 2010 Handy for me as mine was registered on the 2nd September 2010. Not sure what the mileage interval is but I'm sure over 100k was mentioned, I'm only on 20k. As yours was registered 01/09/2010 you will be on 5 year interval.
  12. £380.50 from F1 Autocentres fully fitted......which works out at £76.10 each! :peek:
  13. Decided it was time to change the Conti 2's that came fitted to the car from new. There was still an even 4mm tread on all 4 tyres after 20000 miles (swapped them round at 15000) but they were past their best, particularly in the wet. After looking at various tyre reviews and threads on here I decided on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2's. Best price was £98 from F1 Autocentres. Tyres have been on a week now and what a difference from the Conti's. They are so much quieter and smoother riding, the car has been completely transformed. It really is like driving a different car. No more having to turn up the radio to drown the tyre noise. I'd read the Conti's were noisy but never realised by how much. Anyone changing tyres should seriously consider these.
  14. Is this true for all diesels, my 2010 vRS would have been due this September even though it will have done less than 30K. Good news if it's true.
  15. Have an unused spare wheel fitted with 205/55/16 91V Bridgestone Turanza ER300 sitting in my garage. Now have full size Neptune as the spare. If interested drop me a PM.
