  1. Hope someone can advise. Just got the other half's new Spaceback home. Took the risk of buying from Arnold Clarke, 1 mile on the clock, good experience so far. Downside, no mats and not prepared to pay Arnold more money to get some non-skoda mats. There are mats out there but most just say for the Rapid not specific to the Spaceback so what I would like to know is, would just "Rapid" mats fit in the Spaceback? Thanks Steve Back in Skoda family despite ditching the Superb.
  2. Well the Drone/Resonance has eventually gone. How you may ask, I got rid of the car couldn't take it anymore, so my Skoda has cost me a fortune in depreciation, when I first saw the car I though it was a keeper, someone elses problem now. Sorry Skoda but the Superb may just be the last skoda I ever own, good all round car but the drone just drove me mad, surprised it took me so long.
  3. Gotta love the boot on the hatch. I would buy one tomorrow if everything aligned properly. The rear of my 59 model is UGLY. Not so keen on the front. The Superb was an amazing looking car from the front, almost aeroplane like but now I think it looks a lot cheaper and more blunt (just my untrained eye). But oh for that boot lid.
  4. My Superb CR170 Elegance has now done 67000 miles (2.5 years). GPS unit failed after 20 000 miles. Electric passenger seat has a mind of it's own, wife always saying "who have you had in this seat?". Drivers seat looks pretty worn and no my rear end is not that large. The car does mostly motorway driving and I find the seats reasonably comfortable, not as comfortable as my old Volvo S80 but quite adequate, more sporty than comfort. One fused replaced. 2 Sets of Tyres. Pressure warning once came on despite pressures being fine. Fuel consumption averages out at around 45mpg, best is 50mpg. Skoda badges both very shabby now. No Rust. Sound system is decidely average. Servicing costs have been reasonable but watch out dealer quality varies substantially, the skoda dealer in Northampton being the best so far.
  5. I get this from 2000rpm to 2600 rpm so a real problem at 70 to 80, if I had the cash I would have let the car go, for now it's loud music. I am actually embarrased when I have a front seat passenger and hope they do not notice it. 56000miles now (in 2 years) CR170, I had hoped it would go over time.
  6. Infoschumi Posted >Posted 17 December 2011 - 02:13 >I can't remember the service update notice numbers, but when I went for the oil change they told me about three of them. >1-some pieces from the common-rail injection system were producing a resonance,so the engine was noisy. They did it to my car and now it's very very quiet. Do you have anymore details on what was done. I have a noisy engine (drone) and despite many attempts and some dealers saying they can't hear anything, it remains the same. This sounds like a possible solution that I could discuss with the dealer. Thanks
  7. V7 Map Disk arrive?

  8. Thanks fo that response. So I'm not insane or just hearing things. I have noticed more lately how the noise is around at lower speeds. It all starts at 2000rpm. I have checked every piece of plastic, bolts, metal bits etc to track down loose items but there is nothing. I would love to get hold of a quiet 170 manual and take it to the dealer to compare the two. As for the tyre wear. The car does spin up quite easy so I expect that has had something to do with it. Although I am no boy-racer.
  9. Do you drive the DSG? The dealer took me for a spin in a DSG to compare, it seems the DSG has a slight noise that kicks in way further up the Speedo. The DSG was very different noise wise. I thought it was just me being paranoid with the noise but the two people at the dealer who have driven the car agree with me, whew. There are a couple of others on briskoda who have had the noise but not seen any posts recently. If you only drive the car under 70, you would never know about the noise. I would love to take a spin in a cr170 manual and see what it was like, if quiet, then take it to the dealer and say, "set it up the same". Need to get to a meet somewhere.
  10. Thanks for the advice on the tyres. I have an engine "drone"/noise at 2000rpm to around 2600rpm. It is most noticeable on the motorway at anything over 69mph (satnav speed) worst at around 74/5. The dealer has tried to sort it out but to no avail, the car is quiet at just under 70 but totally different just over and up to about 80mph. Dealer seems to think it is the DPF that kicks in at 2000rpm. It bugs me quite a lot as most of my travel is motorway, I'll try and get them to have a look again at 20k service, they have had 3 attempts so far, I'll give it till then, after that if it is not sorted my first Skoda experience may be my last.
  11. Well, Superb II CR170 (combi), 10500 miles and already looking for new tyres. I have done mostly motorway driving but do tend to "use" the power when on country lanes and around our windy/windy area. I was wondering what the thoughts are on changing the profile of the tyres. I will be doing even more (if that's possible) motorway driving in the coming months so am not too hung up on handling. Wouldn't a bigger profile reduce road noise and possibly improve mileage, also probably mess up the speedo calibration somewhat unless that is gearbox driven. I am not sure that reducing the tyre noise is a good thing mind, as the engine drone problem will be even more obvious and may well drive me insane. Any comments/advice welcome.
  12. Fixed - A bad earth or something on the Aerial. Replaced under warranty. Whew
  13. Not had this on mine, just a drone between 2000 and 2800 rpm that is getting worse the older the car gets. Didn't realise the ESP did that, I will give it a go tomorrow, maybe that noise is better than the drone.
  14. I will give that a go (too cold to go outside right now), I assume if it doesn't find many satellites it could be an aerial issue.
