  1. There’s lots of stamps in the history, but unfortunately nothing mentioned about a chain /tensioner/engine replacement, but up to about 80k miles it’s stamped by police workshop, but with little info of what’s actually been done. yeah I’m in Macc mate .
  2. Yeah, the sticker has a CDA number, which may mean that indeed, hopefully a new one was fitted about 2013!
  3. There is a massive thread in the Octavia mk2 section, which I read through last night for the same reasons. The vast majority of failures there seem to be the 2.0 tsi engines in the vrs, not too many mentions of the 1.8....not sure whether that means anything.
  4. Wow, I’m having this same issue too, initially thought it was a transmission noise until I switched the ac off today and the noise disappeared! Not had a chance to have a proper look at the car yet though.
  5. SOrry for not replying publicly, have been away for a few weeks. So it’s not the car that you had, and I’ve just done about 600 miles in the car on motorway. So far I see no appreciable oil loss, so it would appear for now that mine isn’t drinking it. Interestingly (well maybe) I was rummaging around under the bonnet the other day, and found one of the covers (left hand side of the engine) has a vag sticker (like a factory one) dated 2012, which is 3 years later than the car was built. Not sure if that means anything at all, looking into it.
  6. Sorry to ask, I have just bought a 09 scout tsi which has spent most of its life in Yorkshire , would you be prepared to tell me the reg of the one you gave back? Only done about 100 miles in mine so far, don’t want it to turn out to be the one you had problems with! Cheers
  7. Thanks for that, I’ll take a look at the pedal switch tomorrow!
  8. Hi all, so a good start to my return to Skoda ownership. Picked up my 09 scout on Friday, Saturday morning the epc light came on and lost power. Stopped the engine and restarted, all ok. This morning, drove about 40 miles and it came back on, didn’t quite go into limp mode, but defo lost significant power. Plugged in a generic code scanner which gave p0121 Throttle position sensor switch A. Again, after stopping the engine it reset and managed to get home. Just had a look under the bonnet, and it looks like the throttle body has been replaced recently. Gonna be on to the dealer that sold it tomorrow but does anyone have any further thoughts in case they are less than helpful! Cheers Dissapointed in Macclesfield.
  9. Hey all, ive been lurking in the background for a couple of years since changing jobs and losing my last VRS, but I’ve just acquired a 2009 Octy Scout with the 1.8tsi engine, so no doubt will be picking peoples brains, but hopefully be able to give back once I’ve learned a bit!
  10. Back in scout world.... just got a 2009 1.8tsi scout in meteor grey.
  11. Jings, I didn't think of that! What a dope. Cheers for the replies guys Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Hey all, After being stranded at the side of the road after 2 blowouts, I'm looking for a cheap wheel (alloy or steel) to keep as a spare. It's a company car so I don't want to pay for a new one really, and the company definitely won't. has anyone out there found another wheel from any other marques/ models that will fit, that I may be able to find on a well known auction site? Cheers for any thoughts. James Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. 14k miles into having mine, I had no spare budget to get extras, but if I had - the heated front screen would be a definite, a spare wheel, auto-dimming wing mirrors, and that mobile phone signal booster box thing would have been handy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
