  1. Update: Replaced ECU to find car still won't start. checked all fuses and found one missing!!!! Bottom right F48 ECU. Such a fundermental error. Never thought that a fuse would be missing. Only explaination is that it was not fully in, in the first place and came loose. Anyhow car now back on the road and I have a spare ECU.
  2. ECU identified as the guilty party. Fleabay to the rescue, secondhand one on the way.. Delphi diagnostics did not identify the ECU as faulty; VCDS did.
  3. Update: No faults in wiring, so have consulted an automotive electrician who thinks the ecu has developed a fault.. He can reprogramme another ecu so possibly going down that route.
  4. 2005 Fabia 1.9 TDI refused to start this morning. Engine cranks over, diagnostics shows two fault codes: P0183 Fuel pump sensor "A" circuit high P0118 engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit high. I have replaced both sensors to no effect. Fault codes still show up and engine won't start. Something is stopping the fuel getting through! Anyone had this problem or know of a solution? Suggestions appreciated.
  5. Yet again another bust sump. 2nd it 2 years. The plastic under tray is good whilst it lasts, but its not very robust to say the least. I have found metal sump guard in CZ but it is priced at £170 + postage. http://krytypodmotor.cz/en/207-skoda-fabia Has anyone made one or even better got drawings for one? I sure our local metal fabrication shop would cut to a plan. Many thanks,
  6. Try this link for metal guards. http://krytypodmotor.cz/en/207-skoda-fabia
  7. Great video. thanks for the link. I tried the normal method with the 5mm drill bit etc. This did not work as I could not select 1st and 5th gear. After many tries, I gave up and ended up putting the gearlever into reverse gear having loosened the locking collars on the cables. I then put the selector arms into the reverse position. Next re-locked the locking collars and tried the car. Success. By putting the gear lever into reverse, locks the gear lever in a position where the selectors can then be correctly positioned.
  8. I completed the task of fitting and installing cruise control with 100% success. I decided that removing the dash was not such a difficult task when the steering wheel and lower panel are removed anyway. Putting it back was straight forward. This method ensures the wires are in the right terminals. Good luck.
  9. Problem finally solved! I have replaced the following: Relays Starter motor Camshaft sensor Speed sensor Coolant Temp sensor Battery Power steering pump Steering Angle sensor I discovered the replacement camshaft sensor was faulty. Car now running like it should. Thanks everyone for all their advice and help, much appreciated.
  10. Guys, Again many thanks for replying to my last posting, it's much appreciated. Last night I re-ran VCDS having checked the relays under the dash, all fuses and re plugged all the connectors in the engine compartment and inside. I was suprised to find that the engine faults had cleared! Only the EPS remains a problem. Life is not that simple is it! Ran the engine up to running temperature, switched off and found that it did not want to start until the 3rd attempt. The CTS & MAF sensors were connected as were all the sensors when I re-ran the diagnostics. I have read that the steering angle sensor can play havoc with the electrics if it is faulty. I think I will replace this sensor as it is still showing up as a fault. I was wondering if VW/Skoda got Microsoft to write the coding for the ECU & installed some version of windows, If so it would answer why we have these problems! 12. Hi guys, Thanks for all the good advice. Problem still not solved! Starter motor ok I have even tried starting from warm with a mains cranker/charger. Engine turns quickly but not starting. I have changed the temp sensor. The EGR solenoid seems to be working in that it opens fully after 3 seconds after switching off. It does not get stuck as I have checked with the air pipe off. Could the MAF sensor cause the engine not to start when warm? many thanks
  13. Thanks for the help everyone. I have changed the coolant temp sensor and still getting same problem. Engine wont start when beginning to warm up. Starts fine when cold! What is the ASV which Green Briskodian suggests may be stuck shut? Many thanks
  14. 1.9tdi Elegance Estate 2001 has started to be difficult starting when warm. The engine turns over easily enough. It feels as if there is no fuel being fed to the engine! I had thought it was the load sensor wire as I found this to be broken - since repaired but not effect on starting. If anyone has had this problem, I would be grateful for the solution. many thanks.
