1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures
chrisgu replied to DGW's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've just got my car back after the timing chain kit was changed, asked the same question and all parts are cover by 2 year warranty. My car was 4 years 11months old and was cover by SUK. -
1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engine failures

This just happened to my car over the weekend... Car didn't start right (extra second or so to turn over) but seemed to drive ok next time I started it the engine light came on. Check with an ODBII reader and got error P0016, car still sounded ok (luckly me) took it into the garage next day and after some investigation told me the chain had stretched. Checked it over and doesn't seem to be any other damage been told the compression checks all come back ok. Skoda are covering the replacement chain and associated part, no cost to me. Car was purchases new 2011 Jan so just under 5 years old (49k miles, full dealer service history), think I dogged a bullet there.. Chris. -
Got in the car the other day and the roof sunglass holder was open, so tried to close it but it wouldn't catch... Had a look and the little bit of plastic that locks has broken off. Never use it but needs sorted as I can see out my review mirror... Anyway seems to be part no 1Z0868565F47H and found it on ebay for £25.49 anyone know where I can get it cheaper. Need to speak to the dealer on the off chance they've got a better price. Might just super glue its closed as its never used.

vRS - Phone Connection BT

Also if you hit the phone button and it just mutes the radio then I don't think you have the bluetooth unit fitted. This was the way mine worked till I fitted one. Chris. -
There not enough room behind the climate/aircon panel unless you take the unit out the plastic case, which I've done. Then it fits no problem but not everyone will be happy to do this I guess. Also the version I used doesn't have an external aerial so the ones your looking at might be slightly different. Chris

Genuine VCDS (AKA Vag Com) Hex + Can USB inter-forum Group Buy 2010.

If anyone drops out I'd be possibly be interested in getting one, is there a reserve list? Chris. -
Just to add I've bought and install this kit 9W7, but I think you can also use the 9WZ. There seem to be lots of different bluetooth units but I think these are the two newest ones that do Bluetooth 2.0 and RSAP. Chris.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a faulty fuel pump. Might be worth a visit to the dealer.

My problem turned out to be the fuel pump which was replaced, took them 3 days speaking to Skoda UK.. but it been fine since.

I know the pain my car is still in (3rd day) getting looked and my loaner is a 1.2 Fabia scout... not a patch on the vRS :'( -
No it's definitely the car I can tell the difference...

Only had my petrol VRS for 2 weeks but last night and this morning I've noticed a high pitched squeal coming from the engine. You can here it in the cabin but it much louder when outside this is all when the car is stationary. Turned radio/light air-con off but the only way the sound stops is when the engine is off. Any thoughts, I'm contacting the dealer this morning but just wondering what's might be the cause. Thanks Chris
