  1. Just wondering if anyone near to Stourbridge with VCDS wants to come and help with my 07 Octavia? Let me know
  2. Just to let you all know. The fault was a faulty crank sensor.
  3. What a waste of time their parts department are.......... Needed to order a crank sensor for my Octavia. Rang them up on a Saturday morning and couldn't get through. nice lady on the phone said would ring me back in next half hour. No call back so ring back just over an hour later only 11am. Guy says "o yes I was just about to look at that you are next on my list" he said he would ring me back. I went out and thought nothing of it, but no call back on the Saturday. Then Monday comes, have to take the wife's car so thought I'd pop in on my way out as it's only up the road. Walk in nice guy on the parts desk, I say what I want . Then the funny bit, he says, "I can't find the part number on our system" LOL. So the PD170 must be a rare diesel that only Skoda use in the Octavia, which its not. He says his boss will be in in half and hour and he will find the part number and he will ring me back. That was over 4 weeks ago now and still never had a call back. I got my crank sensor from a dealer in up north, great service and deliver in two days. So, so far not a good experience. Lets see if I buy my next car from them
  4. Waiting on delivery of the sensor. Been told its behind the oil cooler not the filter housing and is a 4mm allen key head? Not looking forward to changing it I know that much. Anyone got an engine diagram link?
  5. Yep I get that about replacement just wanted to know location with a picture or diagram really
  6. Evening all I need to change the crank sensor on my PD170 VRS. But can't find a simple guide. Can someone point me in the right direction to a guide or a simple video please.
  7. Thanks will have a look tomorrow. Just another note. On some occasions I can here a clicking noise, sounds like a relay or contact ?
  8. Two different VCDS from two different places
  9. Need some help with the next problem So car will be driving along fine with no problems. Then for no reason and with no warnings lights etc. Rev counter only will start to be erratic, speed of car or gear I am in has no bearing. As the rev counter is doing its thing the throttle is unresponsive and sometimes does make the car rev and sometimes doesn't. Car is jerky and engine speed stops dead. Which can be unnerving when doing motorway speeds and car just trys to stop dead. Then after a couple of seconds all is back to normal. Sometimes it cuts out and starts fine straight away and again drives fine. This problem happens as and when it likes no pattern to it. There are no fault codes had it scanned twice. No lights on dash when it happens. I've changes all filters and fluids recently and problem happened before and after this. Car is an 2007 Octavis VRS Diesel Any help or ideas ?
  10. Yeah I can do that. But Would assume rightly or wrongly that I would get a light either stay on or flash on the dash if it was a sensor or electrical fault?
  11. So over the last couple of months the below has happened a couple of times. Car is an 07 VRS Diesel, PD 170 Driving along between 65-80 in 6th. Rev drop and car slow (obviously), revs pick back up and may drop again but all is normal. No lights on dash. Seems to happen from what I remember when trying to accelerate. Seems like a fuel issue? Injectors? Any suggestion. I'm going to change the fuel filter and see what happens?
  12. Non reported at present. But waiting for them to put it back together. I think i was lucky that I just turned it off not long after the rattle started. So fingers crossed. Just out of curiosity, what parts are actually changed by skoda for a cambelt and waterpump? Anyone in the know, know?
  13. Quick update. Yes is a tensioner failure being fixed today so should have the car back later. as you say TK699 really good service so far, so will go back to them for sure.
  14. Yeah a franchised main dealer. Like you say and my thoughts they created the problem so their problem. They have been excellent to be fair, just a shame it's my first time using them
  15. After some opinion on the below, Had cambelt and water pump changed at a dealer early December. Couple of weeks later car starts making a loud rattle. Not far from home I drive it back and pop the bonnet. Loud rattle from cambelt side. Turned car off. Called breakdown. I already figured loose tensioner or similar. Breakdown comes we pop the cover off cambelt and no tension in belt at all. Could slide off Lilly with fingers no where near touching the pulleys. Got towed to dealer and waiting their response. What you reckon I should get from them, as they have seriously annoyed me and potentially cause major damage to my engine. On the plus side the citigo I have is nice
