  1. I've just had a coolant temp sensor replaced and an aircon service by these guys.... First class for value for money and service - and really nice people to talk with too - thoroughly recommended and I will be going back in a couple of thousand miles time for a service :-)
  2. Well, After reading all the posts in here about misting windows and water ingress issues, I figured that my 53 plate car, with full Skoda history, and all interior lights working, had been sorted for this problem How wrong could I be?! I left the car parked at Gatwick for a fortnight while away with work. Got back to the car to slightly misted windows... nothing too strange there, it does it a lot. The car started on the button as always, and it was only after driving to the end of the road and applying the brakes that I heard the sickening sound of running water, followed by wet feet... yep, abouttwo inches of stagnant rain water sitting in the drivers side rear footwell. Spent most of last weekend taking the bungs out of the plenum chamber and giving it a clean-up - so far so good. Today I'm working at home, and it started raining an hour or so ago... I rushed out to check the car, and I can see that the problem is definitely on the bonnet cable release side. It looks like I'm going to have to remove the fuse box to clean underneath. The question is how to seal the bonnet release grommet? I'm guessing popping it out and smearing bathroom sealant around it is my only option? Gonna get it fixed then get shot of the car... its been a disappointing experience owning it :-(
  3. Keep us posted on this Baubauro.... I've got the same light and warning on my dash, but havent had a chance to do anything with it yet... Weird thing is, it cured itself when I picked the car up at the airport after a couple of weeks. Was fine all last weekend, and then it came on again on Monday morning. Common thing with both occurences is a cold morning (5 or 6 degrees) and having lights, rear demister and heated seat on together. Wondering if its a condensation problem or something... Car seems to be driving just fine, but will take it into a good local indy for a check when I get back to UK tomorrow.
  4. Thanks guys.... only one way to find out I guess!!! Had an "emissions workshop" come on on the way to the airport on Monday, so its probably gonna have to go in to my local anyways - I'll get them to do it all together :-)
  5. Almost spooky.... Read this thread yesterday afternoon, and this morning on the M3 "BING" - Emissions Workshop.... Things like this used to give me a pit-of-the-stomach feeling.... Glad to be on this forum!!! So, what is the sensor actually sensing? Car seems to run no differently with the light on...
  6. Hi All, OK....advance warning - this I'm sure is a numpty question... Taking an interest in getting my fingers dirty now I actually own this car...reminds me of having Golfs as a nipper :-) Problem for me is I've been a bit used to throwing cars at dealers and am a bit out of touch...I'm re-learning all the time, but having a whale of a time too. I'm going to start with checking out the plenum chamber for the dreaded swamp that I've read so much about... got the plastic sheet off no problem, and was ready to undo the battery, and then it dawned on me..... does the radio lock out? I've got pretty much every receipt, MOT and handbook...even the sign-over sheet from Skoda all those years ago....but no sign of a code. The handbook suggests I dont need it.... but then seems to contradict itself, so I thought I'd ask the experts :-) Cheers fellas, Andy
  7. Keep us posted Robbo - I noticed mine doing the fogging up thing, although all my carpets seem bone dry. Have discovered the A/C isnt working properly, so will have it re-gassed and see if that helps things along...
  8. Thanks for the welcome guys! I've read lots about the water ingress issues... will keep a close eye on things, although all seems ok, and the car has been incredibly well maintained so might already have been done. If we get some half decent weather tomorrow I'll take out the cover and have a look for myself. Only thing that isnt working 100% at the moment is the air conditioning - first warm day on Thursday revelaed no difference between the "Auto" and "Econ" modes - fingers crossed its just a re-gas to sort that out. Otherwise, I cant believe how good it is.... really nice car :-) Thanks again guys - talk soon!
  9. Hi All, Pleased to say after a few months as a @lurker@ I'm now a fully paid-up member of the club, having just bought myself a 53 plate 130 Superb Comfort with 45k on the clock. Have been running company cars for a long time, so has been a bit of a learning curve buying... but so far, I'm well pleased with my Superb! Its smooth as anything, has a few toys in it, and is giving me 60mpg driven sensibly.... cant fault it! Got in a Passat B5 taxi the other night with 300k on the clock, so hoping mine is still just a baby. Feeling very smug that for £5k I've kind of cheated the system a little bit... no more huge tax bills! Anyways - hope to talk more with all of you soon, Andy
