Hi all,
I know there's a lot of discussion and threads on here about tuning boxes and remaps. However, I have been looking at getting a DTUK tuning box and can't decide whether to buy new or second hand!
I've seen a few on eBay ranging from £125 upwards and most adverts state DTUK will help with any tweaks or reprogramming if it's slightly different i.e it was used on a DSG and want to use it on a manual - everything else being the same.
I don't like speaking out of term here, but I've contacted DTUK and they appear to be very unhelpful! In my opinion, I get the feeling they don't like anyone buying secondhand boxes (understandable).
I would buy new, but DTUK don't want to help anyone with a reprogram or flash and answer any questions about the box itself unless you are the person selling it (which is practically impossible if you don't have an invoice or access to their mailbox). Again, I kind of understand this due to GDPR, but I doubt you'll ever be able to get help from them! From my point of view, it doesn't feel me with confidence if I was to buy new and sell it once done with it in a few years!
Has anyone else experienced similar as I'm feeling like I should just pay a silly price for an ABT ECU?
My car is still under its 3 year warranty, hence why I'm trying to avoid a remap. I'm still on the fence as to whether any tuning boxes or additional ECUs will mess with any figures on the OEM ECU. I've had a few electrical issues recently, so if the car needs to go back into Skoda it may have diagnostic logs sent to Germany, which could invalidate the warranty if it requires any work.
Any thoughts on the matter will be appreciated.
Cheers
