  1. Excellent guide will get this done when my parts arrive, Thanks.
  2. What is the cost in time and parts to do the upgrade?
  3. Had the ac serviced today, a new to me 2017 2.0tdi 150 DSG. I was pleasantly surprised that 360g of R1234yf recovered after 8 years and 180000km. They checked it for leaks too all looked dry including condenser and compressor. It held vacuum and the pressure was rock steady on the refill of 460g. Happy with that.
  4. I just purchased a 2017 2.0tdi, this is the current version is it worthwhile updating. I will be using AndroidAuto so not overly concerned about the inbuilt maps. The only glitch on AA seems to be the voice control not working. Also car current speed shows on Car Play but not on AA. It reads the WhatsApp messages ok and asks for reply but then does not "hear or recognise: my voiced reply. All feedback welcome thanks G
  5. Just purchased a 2017 2.0 TDI DSG 180,000 KM looking forward to getting to know this model with members help after reluctantly having to retire my 2005 1.9 PD AVF AUTO @ 480396km hopefully this will prove as reliable!
  6. Has the water pump been replaced, given the previous issues with water pumps in the Superb multiple threads in this forum, I would start there.
  7. End of an era this car (2005 1.9tdi AVF Auto) has been a great servant but couldn't justify the money to keep it going. I replaced the rack earlier in the year as it had leaked at the inner tie rod seals, I think a loose boot on the tie rod allowed water in and the rust did the damage so could potentially have been prevented had I caught it on time. The new rack leaked after a few months and took out the pump so that spelled the end,was a pity becuase otherwise it was running well. Original engine and transmission untouched used no oil between changes normal servicing plus the usual door locks, 1 alternator rebuild, set of front wheel bearings, rear hubs and a tandem pump. Cheap motoring helped by some great knowledge from contributors on here, I got a 2017 2.0tdi DSG to replace it so hopefully it will serve me well.
  8. My 2005 Skoda Superb 1.9tdi AVF is leaking power steering fluid coming out the left hand boot and the pump is whining as a result, has anyone replaced a rack, where did you source a replacement, how was the quality, did you replace the pump also, what are decent quality replacements that are still available? Has anyone had this issue, Thanks G
  9. Its under the carpet probably corroded connections from water ingress
  10. gfinneran started following Oil all over...
  11. Probably dirt on the switch contacts try electonic cleaner spray, are the hazards working? Have you ruled out fuses and relays?
  12. Hi high beam on these are halogen, low beam xenon, when mine stopped working it was the ballast attached to the under side of the lamp, start with the easy stuff to check fuses, swapping bulbs to rule these out and only work on it disconnected from power there is very high voltage. HELLA 5DV 008 290-004 Ballast, gas discharge lamp
  13. As above Passat B5/B5.5 there may be some differences indicator possibly
  14. These cars all leak water into the cabin through multiple failure points (pollen filter housing seal, doors plates, sunroof drains blocked, ecu housing seal, bonnet release cable seal to name a few) and they will lead to electrical nightmares of wiring corrosion if left unattended, do yourself a favour and have a read of that thread it could save you a lot especially if you recently got the car and dont know its history.
  15. Door locks are a common fault check ebay for replacements, get the battery tested under load to see if it needs replacing. Have you checked the car for water ingress?
  16. S0054040020-Electrical_System.pdfCentral control unit for convenience system -J393- Check Page 129 of this possibly corrsion from water ingress, have you scanned it for fault codes? The control unit is located in front of the driver seat under the floor covering
