  1. thanks for the answer xman. my car does not switch off the recirc while I'm driving, instead, it does it when I start the car after it has been sitting for a while. my car has Climatic, not Climatronic, BTW. the climatic is the system with the 3 knobs and not LCD screen. I've always used recirc on all my vehicles, all the time... this one included and I've had it for 5 months now. cars are not that airtight to suffocate occupants using recirc all the time... . Besides we always use the A/C like that around here... in a country with 29 - 35 celsius degrees all year around, day and night, and also not effective smog regulation, is easier to get suffocated/drowsy if we switch off recirc!
  2. Hello All from Dominican Republic! I purchased a brand new Skoda Fabia last february. it was sold to me as a 2009 model, but stickers all around it have a manufacture date of july 2008. Sorry if any of these questions have already been answered in the forums... I've looked around but couldn't find them... forum search is either not working well or I don't know how to use it... to see an example of what I mean, search for "vag-com" and you'll see no results, despite this word being part of several topic titles and bodies as well... anyway here are my questions: 1- I have the Climatic Air conditioner system. why does the recirc button keeps turning itself off? sometimes the fabia sits all night and it doesn't turn off when I start the car next morning, sometimes just after 1 hour parked I find it turned off when I start the car... the manual doesn't say anything about it... I'm just curious, but would really like to set it up so the recirc is not switched off randomly. 2- I’ve seen several references to a problem called “Stutterâ€, that can be addressed reprogramming the EGR system via VAG-COM. I’ve seen this is a problem affecting diesel engines, mine is a petrol (gasoline) engine, the 1.4 63kw. I’ve experience loss of power, stutter, hesitation, etc. at low RPMs when launching off, particularly in reverse. I have to give it a lot of gas to perform a smooth start. Sometimes it launches fine at low RPM. Will this EGR reprogramming improve my driving experience too? I’ve tried to change the setting with a generic VW obdII cable I got from ebay and VCDS-Lite, and it says “too many errors to continueâ€â€¦ I’ve been able to change several other settings including the steering assistance… does this mean my cheapo cable is uncapable to communicate with the engine’s module? there's some tweaking that can be done with the software? 3- sometimes when launching off in reverse, while turning the steering wheel, I hear and feel a “thumpâ€. it seems to be coming from somewhere in the front train. Been to the dealer 2 times, but as always, they can’t replicate the problem! Don’t get me wrong, they’ve been very nice with me so far, the manager even did a test drive with me and the car didn’t made the noise, couple of days later, the thump is back… to give you some more info, sometimes, when going in reverse, the car becomes hard to brake, it feels as if I’m trying to brake with the engine off, like with no brake booster. have any of you guys experienced something similar? Any tips for the mechanic? 4 – I set the steering assist to 6 or very light, and I’m happy with how the steering feels now. However I’m hearing the electrohydraulic steering pump whining a bit now… is not bothersome… but, can this setting lead to the pump’s premature failure? What’s your experience on this? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello, Everyone. I was able to make the big leap of buying my own apartment (actually, I gave a little more than 30% as a down payment). This seriously affected my finances and I was forced to trade my 1996 toyota corolla for a 1996 Skoda Felicia. Skodas are becoming very popular around here. After using japanese cars all my life (extremely popular around here, especially hondas and toyotas) I was a little concerned about my decision, euro cars are a luxury around here (parts are pricey) and this brand seemed like a cheap clone. I'm very happy to tell you that I think I made the right decision! they're cheap, alright (to buy and maintain), but rugged and durable. It is somewhat hard to go back, from Electronic Fuel Injection and ECU's to tradional carburetor. It is certainly something that I would not recommend to everyone, and, the lack of power can be irritating, but, I'm happy with it!
