  1. Regular estate springs, vRS dampeners, rear anti roll bar, front strut brace, front console and rear trailing axle bushes in poly. 15" Wheels is the best all round every day set up in my opinion.
  2. June 2011 41262 miles Full comprehensive service history MOT 04.03.16 2 Owners prior to me (One of these was the Skoda dealer) DSG (6 speed with paddles) 4X4 AFS Xenons (They turn with steering inputs) Retrofit MDI (You can plug in an ipod) Remap by Richard Washbrook (Equivalent of a CR170 engine) Front Powerflex console bushes (Makes turn in crisper and reduces wheel hop) Rear Ultra Racing anti-roll bar (Makes it go around bends better) The basic story goes: I spent a year looking for the right spec / condition DSG Octavia Scout mkII face lift diesel with 23520 miles on it. I found my car at a Skoda dealer which was ex demo and sold to an older chap, who had it serviced and then traded it back in at the same dealer. I put Vag Com on the car at purchase and found the a/c was empty and a wing mirror adjuster needed resetting. The dealer replaced the a/c condenser and re-gassed the a/c, plus reset the mirror on purchase. I have since fitted a metal mesh in front of the condenser as this is a common stone damage area. A few months after purchase whilst covering 140 mile a day cross country runs the front end started rumbling terribly. My local dealer diagnosed and changed both front wheel bearings under warranty, and re-balanced both front wheels. I put this warranty issue down to the low mileage and type of driving by the previous owner. The car has been cared for mechanically much more than the previous owner or Skoda, by my own hands with genuine service parts. The dealer changed the engine oil on sale at 23523miles, I replaced the air, pollen, and fuel filters which were all black, and put a new battery on the very next day. A subsequent large service at 32600 miles also included (the commonly much lacking) Haldex oil change, front and rear diff oil changes, DSG gear oil change and normal service. The last regular service was this January at 40757 miles. Whilst in my ownership the engine oil is always allowed to reach at least 80 degrees before using revs or boost. You may tell that I bought this car to keep and run till it's end. Unfortunately / fortunately for me, a recent change in job also brought with it the addition of a van for daily use. I therefore can not justify a car that gets little or no use, or takes up valuable drive space. My loss could be your gain? The good: Clean solid car with the correct service history so far. DSG with paddles for those who like A-roads and have dodgy left knees like me. Remapped by the right man for smoothness and economy. 4X4 for well...the winter. Xenons. Underrated Chassis with plenty of space. The bad: Marks in the rear n/s bumper (Where there on purchase). Advisory on the MOT for wear on two back tyres (These wheels came off the front prior to geometry set up). Engine falls under the VW emissions mess (not a mandatory recall issue). Swirl marks in the front windscreen (looks like someone tried to remove scratches, again there on purchase). Pictures can be found HERE Interior pictures will follow after a vacuum and dust... Located near Canterbury Kent. £9500 ono
  3. The recall on a CR140 will be a map change (de-tune). Like others have said your choices are to get the recall carried out prior to a remap, or never bother with the recall and get your remap now. The VW recal is not mandatory, nor classed as a "safety issue" and so will not be flagged at an MOT time. You will purely need to pass MOT emissions, which with a good map will not be an issue.
  4. Hex head haters...haha If you want sleek there are some short stainless flanged round heads, with internal allen hex on the Bay of e? (291428026343) I used the above with rivnuts, so double check your size. The round heads would probably better for the front doors depending on what you do, as then there's no sharp edges to catch anything on...
  5. Mr Fox, I like Xavier and many others dream of Teslas...but realistically (for me) that's not going to happen! I look forward to any updates you have on your shiny new Kia Soul EV fleet?
  6. So just an update that the noise is initially solved, hopefully some more motorway cruising will confirm this. As mentioned wheel bearings were the culprit up front, not one side, but both have been changed. I'm surprised based on the mileage, and the amount of racket they made which had me worrying about the gearbox / transfer box. On a final note: After a not very impressive dealing / diagnosis from a Skoda dealer, they came good and also re-balanced my front wheels as a bonus. Thankfully an approved used warranty covered all the above, as I wouldn't have liked the bill of £363 all in!
  7. Thank you so far for the ideas. Just to rule out some of the above. The under tray is tight. Sorry for me using the word "tracking"...geometry was carried out on a Pro Align setup.
  8. So I bought a 2011 Octavia Scout with DSG earlier this year with 23000 miles on it. Over the last week of some truly silly 150 mile day trips to and from work over some right nasty A roads, I've found myself with some serious noise coming from what appears to be the front of the car whilst cruising at legal duel carriage way and motorway speeds. The car has is just coming up to 28000 miles, the tyre pressures are 35 psi all around, and the tracking was checked two weeks ago prior to the noise increase and all was / is good including the tyres (Goodyear Efficient Grip). The noise to me seems mechanical, and there is the faintest hint of coinciding vibration through the foot rest and steering wheel. If you put the gearbox in neutral and coast at speed the noise is still apparent, and rises and falls with the coasting speed of the car. Obviously my mind is in the worst case scenario mode, of which there are many £££ involved....so if anyone out there with experience of Haldex / DSG noise could have a listen to the below clip and give me there thoughts, I'd really appreciate it? Octavia Scout Noise p.s. You're listening for a whirring noise.
  9. I have a Steinbauer tuning box that I ran on my 1.9 SDI Fabia (ASY engine). The car is now sold and I have the tuning box for sale. I've done a bit of research and the steinbauer unit "STTCLM4KA10" will pretty much run on any VP37 injection pump based engines that VW made, basically we're talking old school non PD TDI diesels. The engines covered include many vehicles, Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW... specifically I know that the unit will work on a Mk4 Golf and Mk1 Audi A3 AGR / ALH 1.9 TDI engine. The unit worked well on my SDI, and was adjusted for no smoke on WOT, it was much smoother through the rev range, with a better pick up through the gears, I'm guessing there was slight increase in mid range torque. Fuel economy never seemed to budge for me up or down, I suppose it all depends how you drive. On my SDI it was a noticeable difference between having the tuning box and not. Let's be honest it never made the engine quick, but certainly more refined and a worthwhile addition with no cost in economy. I'm after £110 posted.
  10. I think that's got to be the only time that actually can be used for a genuine reason! What will that Atom driver think when the Citigo hits the tracks?
  11. A mk1 Fabia Elegance under radio storage drawer, to replace the standard cubby hole found in other specification cars, i.e. vRs. The draw is in good clean working condition and includes the extra carpet insert. £22 Posted.
