Rally Stu

Earilier this yr, a front Spring on my 2002 Vrs snapped, so I took it my local dealer, who replaced both sides. However, upon collecting the car i thought the front ride height seems high, but was told "it will settle" in time. 2 months later the ride height is still high, with the arches having a larger gap with before, with the nose of the car higher that the rearwhich to me is definately not how it was before the failure Does anyone have the correct original part number, as the springs fitted are part no. 1J0411105AJ, cost being £111.52 excl VAT (for both) I would like to find out this , prior to taking the car back to the dealer, it seems a few people have had similar experiences Thanks in advance

Just a quick one :( I have 52 Plate vRS, but noticed the other day the my side lights are not giving out same brightness from each headlamp. Dipped and Main ok, (different bulb). Dealer recently replaced motor under warranty, presumably not connected to this problem. Any thoughts, earthing strap, bulb going, loose connections ? Intend to look at the weekend, because its dark monring an night at the moment Cheers for help / advise when it comes !

Have you tried Witherspoons , who are an new independant VAG Group Garage in Sighthill Edinburgh. They quoted £217 for the Cambelt and the servicing ranged fro 105 - 170 if I remember correctly. Having said that the Bannockburn price seem good I use West End with no problems to date, but those prices seem steep. Stu

Turned out to be a front wheel bearing, but it sounded terrible. Warranty covered it to not cost to me !! What is your car doing then ?? stu

Hi MAtchmaker, I have got 205//50/17's on my Oct Vrs, and find the grip very good to date, with the turn in being sharper. Got them from mytyres.com, for aroung £86 each, but that was b4 christmas. Presumably will see you on Sunday at Falkirk Wheel ? Rally Stu

Advise please ! A have a Octy Vrs, which I needed 2 new tyres at the turn of the Yr. After searchging I chose 205/50/17 Toyo Proxes T1R, due to cost, availablty etc, whilst the Conti Sport 2's that came with car were still ok. I put the Toyos on the front, and have around 1500 Miles, on them, but recently I am hearing a humming / droning noise (which is defo speed related). I found the pressure down over the weekend, and have put that right, and the noise is less obstrusive now. I know what wheel bearings and Diff ! bearings sound likeon various other cars, but could it be the tread pattern? or more likely a bearing on it's way out? Advise / comment would be appreciated, as car going for 50K service at the end of the month. Regards Stu

Is anybody going to the Roger Albert Clark Rally (Historic RAC) based in Sheffield, then up to Southern Scotland( 19 -22 Nov me thinks. Spectating on Monday at Castle Oer, Twigles, Ae, Kershope (Usual Scottish Rally Stages). Went last yr, a few VRs around, very easy access to stages BDA's in the dark sound awesome. Jim McRae, Hannu Mikola etc. Would be pleased to meet any Rally fans ? stu (Blabk Magic Vrs)

Used to ses Jim Curley at Star Performance when I had at GTi 16v. There was a link to the Site, when I am browsing one day at work. Car is standard, Black Magic' except WRC wing, and reversing sensors fitted by my dealer West End, Broxburn. Still under waranty till next June, no pmajor hassles so far apart from the RAdio error mesages, and a dancing drivers side headlight. Why does it do that them ??

Hello, to all Briskodians I have te proud owner of a Octy Vrs sine May 2005 and am enjoying the experience. Previous cars have been Focus ( 2 save cash), Mk 2 Golf GTI 16v, fettled at Star Performance and VW golf Driver. VAG appears to be in the system for 10 Yrs or so, but glad to see the Skoda brand being promoted as sporting and entertaining. I attend rallies to got Yoda muddy when I can Cheers Rally Stu.
