  1. This is what I hope. This is what I fear. No TPM on my Yeti. I did some quick sums. Yeti wheel is 225/50/17, Yeti spare is 195/60/16 and universal spare is 205/50/17. So the difference in rolling circumference from Yeti to Yeti spare is 2.5% and Yeti to universal spare is 3.1%. Looks OK to me. Especially as a few mm of wear on the Yeti tyre reduces the 3.1%.
  2. Hi all, I’m looking at changing my breakdown service. My Skoda tyre sealant is past its sell by date and it’s £50 to replace! Current breakdown service says “you must always carry a legal and serviceable spare wheel or a manufacturer supplied or approved emergency tyre inflation kit”, hence the change for one that doesn’t specify this (I have a can of Holts Tyreweld in the boot). AA are a possibility and they have this universal spare wheel which sounds attractive, but is this going to be ok on a 4x4 Yeti as the size is unlikely to be spot on? Will it damage the Haldex?
  3. It is a bit surprising. Personally I'd worry more about a dsg than the 1.8 tsi!
  4. I got the £427.50 from the process you described using my Yeti details. However when I put in the details for a 1.2 TSI I got £148.50, so I guess CSMA don't like 1.8 TSIs! Thanks for replying .
  5. My car will be three years old in a month so I am just researching and pricing extended warranties. I was interested to see from reading above that CSMA do one (I'm a long standing member) but the on-line quote (CSMA Warranty 5) came up at £427.50 for 12 months. This is not very good! Am I missing something?
  6. Just for the record, my driver's side seat-base heater has also failed. It has been replaced under warranty with no drama but certainly something to check when your warranty is about to expire.
  7. I dont have much to add except to say I have a 1.8TSi and I love it - it's nearly a hot hatchback and great fun to drive. My final choice was Yeti v Tiguan v Golf GTI. Decision was Yeti and I have no regrets. I do low miles hence not too worried about mpg, which is just as well...
  8. My Yeti did exactly this but only on the passenger side (A pillar location). I tried massaging it into shape and silicon spray but it didnt really help. After a few months the noise has gone away by itself.
  9. That's the trouble with noises - they are quite hard to describe. This is quite a distinctive noise over and above the normal sort of engine noises - it's probably something like: turbo whistle or induction roar or wastegate dump or... but I am not quite sure what each of those sound like. On the video the noise only lasts for a second at almost exactly the 3 second mark.
  10. I don't think it's a bad noise just curious about a whoooo type noise I get under quite hard acceleration. This isn't my car but this youtube link illustrates the noise at about 2-3 seconds in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgz9jJbMhTI any ideas on what it is?
  11. I can believe that. My MINI (bought from new) was in three times to get a tailgate rattle fixed, but it still rattled . An hour on google and one piece of sticky tape later and the rattle was fixed! I'll probably have to replace it every few years but it works. And you mentioned an X1, I tested the X1 against the Yeti and much preferred the Yeti. Good luck.
  12. Take it to the dealer. My MINI had a front shock absorber and mount replaced (under warranty) at 4500 miles.
  13. That's cool. I've only watched to 8:50 so far but quite hypnotic. It does make you wonder how the first few cars built ended up and whether there were any mechanical clashes
  14. I like it too. Very smart. Also agree that the silver bit doesn't look quite right with the rest being so black and white.
