  1. Hi, can anyone post a link to the 409/411 file as its no longer on the https://yadi.sk/ link in the original post? Thanks
  2. Page 1 says "Octavia III 2013 > Octavia III 2014" ..........................
  3. Does anyone have a link to "Electrical System; Rep. gr. 96" which is referenced a lot in the Body Work guide? For example, when removing the door trims is says "Remove trim -2- for power window lifter ⇒ Electrical System; Rep. gr. 96 and disconnect plugs -3 and 4-." so that guide tells you how to remove the hockey-stick door handle, as an example... Can these guides all be added to the Technical Guide sticky also?
  4. Have you checked post #2 ? Download the pdf and its all in section 7.4, "Removing and installing side luggage compartment trim panel"
  5. I agree - I tried all 3 settings and "Economy"'s throttle lag just made me press harder so was counter-productive - I get between 58 and 64 mpg indicated (more like 58 at present in the winter) which translates to around 2mpg less real-world, so averaging around 60mpg "true". I still drive economically, just prefer Sport throttle and steering.
  6. As JoseDB says, press and hold... Yes, but only when coding via VCDS
  7. There are some more tweaks here which aren't on the VCDS sticky (like disabling the warning tone when the ignition's on and the driver's door open) http://www.stemei.de/pages/coding/skoda-octavia-iii-5e.php. The site's in German but Google Translate helps if not sprechen sie deutsch!
  8. 7 weeks and 3.5k on the clock and getting average of 62 mpg (65-66 mpg indicated on the trip) - 60% motorway/dual-carriageway, 40% traffic/town. That's better than my Superb Greenline II which was doing 60mpg at the same point and ended at 62.3mpg when I returned it after 2 years with 42k on the clock, so I'm hoping to get up to mid 60's - but I can't see getting anywhere near 74mpg (which is disappointing as the Superb was claimed 64.2 average and I achieved 62.3mpg, so pretty darn close).... still, less than 10p mile which is nice.
  9. Yes, coding was easy (my first time!) followed the guides on the VCDS section... I'd quite like permanent DRLs at the rear as the LEDs look nice, but didn't feel confident on doing that as there seemed to be a couple of "if you do this you'll f it up" bits! :peek: MPG was true fill-up as opposed to using the trip - trip computer said 65(ish) but true mpg was 61.5 (give or take)....
  10. Bye bye Superb... hello Octy 3.... 1.6TDI Elegance... many, many options (Xenons, KESSY, Canton, Memory Seats, Winter Pack, Columbus, Bluetooth+, LED tail lights, Power Trunk, Sunset glass, Spare Wheel)... standard suspension and 17's but I like it. Already coded tailgate closing from key/button, tailgate beeps off, twin rear fogs, blower strength in auto, needle flick, headlight washers off (well, 15 seconds pull to activate, 231 screen washes between activations! As close to off as possible). Just looking for how to get the seats/mirrors to go to memory settings on opening (I usually dip both mirrors to reverse onto the driveway and the mirrors stay dipped until I manually press the '1' button - on the Superb they would auto-reset to the memory position when unlocking/opening the drivers door).... 855 miles done already in a week, averaging 61.5mpg at present.... sure that will improve, but can't see 70+ mpg ... still <10p/mile is OK with me!
  11. @AndyGScout after a lot of Googling I worked out that the paint code is actually L7DL - I ordered some from these guys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221131939170?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 and its a perfect match for my wife's '62 plate Fabia Scout bumpers - its an Audi colour code I think (from the ebay entry) but is listed as Flat Grey Mat Bumper. Just don't understand why they ship a bottle of clear lacquer also! Thanks for your post as it gave me enough of a hint to find the paint code as when I asked in the Fabia section a year ago no-one knew the answer, and my dealer had no clue either when I asked them!
  12. If anyone's interested the paint code is L7DL - I ordered some from these guys and its a perfect match: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221131939170?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
  13. In my experience the biggest issue with canbus units is getting an ignition switched feed to turn on the external amp and getting line level outs (on my Superb Columbus I used a speaker level>Line level converter but the results were poor and I ended-up ditching the amp and just upgrading the speakers (which was better than nothing)) - I believe there was is VCDS re-code needed also to boost the output to make the line levels work better (my problem was there was a lot of alternator-type noise which even putting in an in-line filter didn't fix). Didn't spend too much on the amp (£120) so not the end of the world it sits nearly new in the loft, and inevitably it'll find a use one day. I've upgraded many systems over the years (so hope I know what I'm doing) but for canbus units I'd say visit your local car stereo shop and get their input as they must do this a lot and will know the tricks. And definitely don't try using the canbus feed (which does go +'ve on ignition switch-on) as a trigger as it causes some weird issues on the rest of the canbus! When I tried it asked for the radio code (which I didn't have!) - luckily unplugging the feed I'd added undid the damage and no need for the code! Its a minefield To find the pin-outs is pretty easy (plenty of sites if you Google, such as http://www.my-gti.com/529/volkswagen-rns-510-pin-assignments - I know that's for the Columbus/RNS510, but the pin-outs are the same for power & speaker across all units). Hope this is of some help.
  14. Oh, and as for looks, there ain't much in it for me - two peas in a pod
