  1. Loving all the info here everyone thanks a lot :-). I'll be sure to refer to all the points made on here when I go to look at some!
  2. Thanks for all the replies! I love my MK1 VRS! It's been such a reliable car to me but now I want a more modern car. The DSG gearbox has got my really interested. And now my VRS has hit 80K miles I guess it would be a good time to sell before the miles get too high. Would they actually give me this info? If I buy one I think it may have to be a "skoda approved" car from a skoda garage. This should put me in a better position if something goes wrong shouldn't it? Those odds look a lot better! I think I'll definitely be looking for a CTHE version. What sort of mileage do these cars tend to stay reliable?
  3. Hi Everyone, I know this sort of thing has been covered a lot and I've done a lot of searching to find the right info. So my apologies if this has already been answered and I've missed the previous posts. If I buy one I'll be looking to keep it for 4 years at least so I want to make damn sure I'm clued up first. All of the CAVE engine business looks like a minefield to me. With some being OK, some having engines changed and now being OK, others failing and failing multiple times etc. Best to avoid altogether? So if I buy one I would only want one of the newer CTHE types. I understand these to be 2013 & 2014? Are these engines are relatively problem free? Or is there a chance they might develop the same problems as the CAVE ones? Is there an easy way to check the engine type when viewing a car? Also I understand its worth looking for one with a warranty / extended warranty. Could anyone tell me how long the standard manufacturer warranty lasts for from new? Just trying to work out if its worth buying one of these or best avoiding for a more reliable car / engine. Thanks in advance :-). Pinchy
  4. Sounds very similar to problems I had. Mine turned out to be a faulty ECU. While the engine was running stationary the mechanic showed me by slightly pulling / tapping on the ECU box for it to cut out. Hopefully you've got your problem sorted though.
  5. Hi arfur, Did you get this resolved in the end?
  6. I seem to remember these from ebay a while back. Pretty sure it was pay something like pay £200, they send you the full steering wheel, then you send your old one to them and they refund you £x amount for it?.... Someone else might remember more? Edit: might have been wrong on sending the only one back. Found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-3BG-B5-Bora-Golf-4-R32-style-GT-Custom-steering-wheel-Flat-Bottom-NEU-/251759406675?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a9e07ae53
  7. It does say they are rear mate "Fitting Position Rear" :p
  8. I've got these for my main beam: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTEC-H3-12v-100w-Cosmos-Blue-HID-class-xenon-gas-bulbs-/370729314977?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5651306aa1&clk_rvr_id=781709858332&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true Excellent light output and a nice white colour with a slight blue tint.
  9. Cheers Livy. I don't suppose you have a part number for the cups?
  10. Hi Aldoo, These are the ones I got: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=371157308405 Found the part numbers on another bump stop thread.
  11. Cool I think after suspension, alignment & MOT in 1 hit I'll be waiting until next year! Cheers Yeti Man. I'll deffo use the Cupra stops as I've ordered them and sounds like it was the right choice. Being solid and un-tampered it will give me more peace of mind too.
  12. Should I look to get any bushes replaced? I'm hoping not to add to fitting costs but if some are easy enough I'll do it. What ones would be recommended while the suspension is off?
  13. Cheers man, I've ordered them now so i'll have them fitted anyway. Should be nice and tidy with the cupra ones. Yeah I've seen your review thread it looks awesome mate. Ideal for what I'm after :-)
  14. Hi guys, Having a set of Votgland shocks and springs fitted next Friday :-) and wondering if I have got all the bits that need changing. If someone could let me know this is all I need / what other items should be changed I would be very grateful :-). So as well as the suspension kit I have ordered: Top mounts & bearings front Top mounts rear Seat cupra bump stops Is there anything else that would need changing? Also not entirely sure if I needed the Cupra bump stops for just a 25mm drop? Cheers! Pinchy
