  1. have a good look in the dark, as I had this and couldn't find it but as there are 3 bulbs it can be hard to spot the non working one.
  2. I got the Skoda one, but TravAll and Car Roof Box company do them a bit cheaper https://www.travall.co.uk/skoda/octavia-kombi/travall-boot-mat-liner-tbm1065 http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel3.php?query=7877&emulate=carbox&vptype=425766
  3. How do I deleat a post, cant seem to find it anywhere?
  4. Just checked my history on the Superb, it didn't need front shocks till 210,000 miles. I'll see the tester of Hackney Carrages at appointed tearing station and see what he says as was OK in October when I put car on as a Taxi. I won't be doing them if he says it normal too.
  5. I normally do, I've got 10,000 miles to decide if I'm going to keep it, if not it's got Full Main Dealer history. The plug change annoyed me the most, as it's recorded in service book they were changed with air filter at 34,000 miles, and a customer who wasn't aware of that could have paid out near £120 for un needed spark plugs! I got a free car wash though! Engine oil was about £40 for 3.6 Ltrs, I can get a 20 Ltr drum for that. Now I know not everyone can or wants to do their own servicing and are happy to pay for it to be done, but I've always bought any special tools I need to do it myself, a good trolley Jack, axel stands and reasonable set of tools is all you need. There was a break fluid change for £45 which is due, thought that wasn't a bad price for it TBH!
  6. Much as I hate paying them, as I do all my own servicing to keep cost of running my Taxi as low as possible, I had 50,000 mile service done today to keep full main dealer history Incase I decide to move it on because of DSG problems in the future. £140 for basically oil and filter Change and stamp in book, l can live with that. However following advisors: Suggest tracking check £50, but my tyres are evenly worn! Front bump stop bush cracked £182 to replace Air Con service £70 Spark plugs due, though done only 14,000 miles ago £116! Power Control upgrade for improved performance and economy? (DSG program I asume) £50 Key fob battery £20 And biggest one is slightly leaking front shocks at £523 to replace both. I think it all totals well over £1,000 of work that doesn't rearly need to be done.
  7. No, but from what I've read a lot of problems can be caused by drivers of traditional autos with torque converters, the system I beleive has no physical mechanical link. Same with the reports of judder, as I beleive it can dampen harsh application of throttle that manual drivers wouldn't do. I've driven manuals for 32 years, I don't sit at lights in gear with clutch down, so don't want a DSG doing it for me, though specialist has told me it with go out of gear after a short while, however I don't know if it then fully releases the clutch? I asume that once you release brake while its in drive it would engage clutch, select first gear and partially engage clutch so it's slipping until you apply throttle when it then full releases. These situations and sitting on hills with brake off and no throttle are what wears the clutch pack out faster.
  8. They just got back to my mate, £2055 +VAT for new Mechatronic, and another £733 to do the clutch pack while its there!
  9. I am! Another driver has had clutch pack replaced at a cost of £1,000, I'm told it's the nature of the box that this would need doing, I can live with that to some degree, but a more serious problem with the Mechatronic unit would be too expensive. Obviously just replacing the whole gearbox with another would be cheaper but then that could fail at some point. I purchased car from main dealer when 4 years old, has their 6 month warrantee which has 2 months left.
  10. My Superb was a manual not DSG, last of the B5s. I've been told not to change in and out of reverse while wheels are turning, also that there is no need to take it out of gear like a traditional auto when stopped at lights ect. However I've been doing at as I think that could premertualy wear the odd gears clutch pack, and cause the judder my friends car has. The crank oil seal can also leak allowing oil onto the dry clutch too. I'm coming up to 50,000 miles and contemplating getting the service done at main dealer to keep its full servise history and changing cars!
  11. I have a DSG 1.4 TSI I got in October as a replacement for my 58 plate 1.9 TDI manual Superb that I use as a Taxi. I'm now I bit concerned as another driver is having problems with his gearbox at about 70,000 miles, any tips on how I should be using the box to reduce chance of a problem?
  12. Mine split and I lost all boost, £20 for one from a VAG breakers and new one on order for about £75. Just realised your talking about vac hoses!
  13. After thinking engine was shot after fitting new turbo and inter cooled I payed a hours labour for a mechanical to check breather system and look at a few other bits. He found the split pipe I missed as had another person to rev engine and check all the turbo pipes. This was the offending pipe that comes from plastic pipe at back of engine into EGR valve.
  14. Has it gone into limp home mode, as either pending fault code or MIL on?
  15. Turns out it was the turbo pipe where it goes on to the EGR valve blowing oil on th rocker cover.
