  1. Price dropped to £2,950 and listed on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-Vrs-Special-Edition-SE-/281708250380?
  2. Price reduced to £3,595 and now listed on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-Ambiente-/281708233233?
  3. Advertised for sale is my 2007 Fabia Vrs SE, I have owned the car since June 2011 and am the third owner. This has been an excellent car whilst I have owned it racking up many trouble free miles, but I now have need for a larger car. For anyone unaware the Special Edition was intended as the final run from Skoda of the Mk I Fabia, it is finished in a limited edition race blue, with individually numbered full leather seats (mine is number 223). It also benefits from cruise control and a 6 cd changer as well as the standard equipment. http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20003.jpg.html?sort=3&o=22 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20004.jpg.html?sort=3&o=21 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20005.jpg.html?sort=3&o=20 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20006.jpg.html?sort=3&o=19 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20007.jpg.html?sort=3&o=18 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20008.jpg.html?sort=3&o=17 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20009.jpg.html?sort=3&o=16 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20010.jpg.html?sort=3&o=15 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20011.jpg.html?sort=3&o=14 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20012.jpg.html?sort=3&o=13 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20013.jpg.html?sort=3&o=12 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20014.jpg.html?sort=3&o=11 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20015.jpg.html?sort=3&o=10 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20016.jpg.html?sort=3&o=9 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20017.jpg.html?sort=3&o=8 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20018.jpg.html?sort=3&o=7 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20019.jpg.html?sort=3&o=6 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20020.jpg.html?sort=3&o=5 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20021.jpg.html?sort=3&o=4 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20022.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20023.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20024.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/steadyeddy101/media/Fabia%20Vrs/Iphone%2025.5.15%20025.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 The car had a full service history up until 124,508 miles after which point I began servicing it myself. Please note that I have been servicing my own cars for the last 14 years, and take far greater care than the average garage apprentice; I have also retained every invoice and piece of paperwork so the new owner can be assured that all scheduled work has been carried out: 12/01/08 – 17,355 – Inspection service 9/6/08 – 26,735 - Oil and filter service 20/12/08 - 37,827 – Inspection service, filters and brake fluid 30/5/09 – 48,996 – Oil and filter service 14/10/09 – 56,975 – Inspection service, cambelt and all sundries 07/06/10 – 75,610 – Inspection service, oil and all filters 19/7/2011 – 114,203 – Inspection service, oil and all filters 22/2/2012 – 124,508 – Inspection service, all filters, cambelt and all sundries 15/9/2012 – 133,875 – Oil and filter, new air filter and front brake discs and pads 27/4/2013 – 142,202 – Oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter and replacement coolant. 9/3/2014 – 152,761 - Oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter and wiper blades. 5/10/2014 – 162,372 - Oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, replace gearbox oil and new rear discs and pads. In addition to the scheduled maintenance the car has also received the following 20/04/2015 – Two new Falken front tyres 22/11/2013 – New drivers side foglight 11/9/2013 – New Bosch silver top battery 14/3/2012 – New coolant expansion tank 22/10/2011 – New heater resistor pack The rear tyres have approx 4 – 5mm of tread left, and every piece of equipment works on the car as it should. No expense has been spared in the mechanical maintenance of the vehicle; the MOT is valid until 4/5/2016 with no advisories. I have retained every piece of paperwork relating to the vehicle in my ownership, with plenty of documentation also included prior to my purchase, and any potential purchaser is welcome to view this. I have the logbook, as well as the owner’s manual, both keys for the vehicle and the locking wheel nut key. Current mileage is 169,523 this will increase as it is my primary vehicle. The car has been valeted today by myself, having been washed, prepared with a clay bar, and polished, the interior has also been cleaned and the leather treated. Whilst I believe that mechanically the car is extremely sound, I have to be honest and say that the bodywork is tired; from a distance it still looks fantastic, but closer up you can see the marks it has picked up due to age and the mileage. I have taken photos of the significant marks, there are a couple of scrapes, the lacquer has peeled from the spoiler which is a common fault and someone clipped the passenger wing mirror (I have bought a replacement which will come with the car), in addition due to the high mileage the front of the car is stone chipped. I did have the bodywork faults priced for repair at around £350, this was mostly spray work with a repair needed to the scrape by the rear wheelarch. However I never got round to carrying out the work, as I need the car on a daily basis. In addition the wheels are not in the best of condition with some minor curbing and lifting of the paint. The interior is still in good condition, with only a couple of very minor marks to the leather, I have replaced the ashtray with a genuine Skoda cupholder, but I have retained the original part which will come with the car. Also included is a spare pair of front pads and a spare cabin vent (a common fault as they break when people use them incorrectly). The Skoda 1.9 Tdi’s are renowned for their reliability. Economy is in the mid to high 40’s with general driving, and on a long run it will achieve 55mpg, the 6 speed gear box has long ratios and is perfect for cruising. I have priced the car at £3,050 which I believe is fair given the age, condition and maintenance record. If you are interested in the vehicle, please call me (Edward) on 07875 424086 and I will be happy to arrange a viewing; I am not always able to get online to check messages, so a call is a much better way of contacting me. I have insurance on the vehicle, so I can offer to take any potential buyer on a test drive, however it will only be myself behind the wheel. Lastly I believe I have been very honest in the listing, so could I ask that any potential buyers treat me in the same fashion. I am not a trade seller and my spare time is limited, so if you do arrange an appointment and you are unable to make it for any reason, please let me know. Car is located in Hinckley Leicestershire Many Thanks Ed
  4. Thanks for that, it was a real head scratcher last night trying to get them inserted as opposed to just linked. If anyone wants additional photos or information please just let me know. Thanks Ed
  5. Advertised for sale is my mother’s Mk2 Skoda Octavia 1.9 Tdi Ambiente, this is a one lady owner vehicle having been bought new from Skoda. It has been a truly fantastic car in the time she has owned it, but she retired in 2013 and has recently downsized to a 1.2 TSI Fabia. The Ambiente was the mid-range Octavia specification at the time, benefitting from metallic paint, front fog lights, alloy wheels (with locking wheel nuts) and a 6 cd changer; the car was also specified with a full sized alloy spare wheel and reverse parking sensors. The car has a full main dealer Skoda service history, firstly at Farmers Skoda on the Groby Road Leicester, then at Sandicliffe Skoda on the Groby Road when they bought the dealership out: 1/7/2009 – 17854 – Inspection service 26/8/2010 – 30866 – Inspection service 12/9/2011 – 42061 – Inspection service, brake fluid, cambelt and all sundries 4/9/2012 – 49553 – Inspection service 9/9/2013 – 56408 – Inspection service and brake fluid In addition to the routine maintenance schedule the car has also had the following work undertaken: 17/10/2014 – Replacement windscreen due to stone chips 10/10/2014 – New battery 28/8/2014 – New front brake pads 9/9/2013 – New Goodyear tyres all round No expense has been spared in the maintenance of the vehicle, the MOT is valid until 20/9/2015 and all the advisories on the last test were carried out immediately with receipts to prove. My mother has retained every piece of paperwork relating to the vehicle, right back to the original bill of sale, and any potential purchaser is welcome to view this. I have the logbook, as well as the owner’s manual, both keys for the vehicle and the locking wheel nut key. Current mileage is 71,412 this will increase slightly as I am taking it out for a run regularly to prevent the battery from going flat. It is currently stored in my garage so the condition will not change from the photos, the car has been valeted today by myself, having been washed, prepared with a clay bar, and polished, the interior has also been cleaned. I will be honest and state that there are some minor imperfections with the bodywork, there is some light stone chipping to the front bonnet, and a scratch along the boot lid which I have tried to show in a photo, there is also a mark on one of the alloy wheels. It is only to be expected on a 7 year old car, but I wouldn’t want anyone coming to view it unaware. The interior is in excellent condition as the photos hopefully show, 95% of the time this car has only ever had my mother in it, so the passenger and rear seats are like new. The Octavia 1.9 Tdi’s are renowned for their reliability, and were extremely popular with taxi drivers, as such it is rare to find one with such low mileage. Economy is in the mid to high 50’s with general driving, and on a long run it will achieve 65mpg, the 5 speed gear box has long ratios and is perfect for cruising. I have priced the car at £3,750 which I believe is fair given the age, condition and maintenance record. If you are interested in the vehicle, please call me (Edward) on 07875 424086 and I will be happy to arrange a viewing; I am not always able to get online to check messages, so a call is a much better way of contacting me. I have taken out insurance on the vehicle, so I can offer to take any potential buyer on a test drive, however it will only be myself behind the wheel. Lastly I believe I have been very honest in the listing, so could I ask that any potential buyers treat me in the same fashion. 6. Try eBay classifieds, sold a couple of cars on here over the years and had very little stress. I can also recommend pistonheads.
  7. Yeah I know ECP aren't always the cheapest but you can't sniff at 50%, plus they are local and convenient. Spot of annual leave planned shortly so I'll give Unit 18 a buzz and see what they say
  8. Avalon - Brake fluid was done last summer, along with new front discs and pads, belt was done in spring last year at around 120k. Eurocarparts have a pretty good sale on right now so I'm planning on stocking up all the service items. Sorry when I said squeek I should have clarified, we aren't talking about the odd noise here, its a constant squeal when locking it to the left. I understand the Fabia does have a reputation for them so thought I would preempt any serious failure. Yes think its worth taking a hit on the fitting for the Cupra bushes, typically you get a better rate for the labour as they will have the front end apart anyway. Hmm what would you recommend for the oil interval, I've always ran cars on roughly 10k, unless they were serious performance cars? Oh the mpg drop off is noticable, I'm now getting around 375 miles to a tank which is appalling, I was getting around 450. I would have addressed the egr sooner, but its been so cold. VWD - Thanks for the tip, personally unless a car is under warranty I will never go to a main dealer for servicing again. Farmers in Leicester took £900 off my mother for a service a couple years ago, sure it was belts etc but still, typically she didn't call me before taking it there, rather just moaned about the bill afterwards. Thanks for the tip on Unit 18, I've heard good things about them, given I'll be taking time off work anyway the drive wouldn't put me off.
  9. Ok so confession time I have actually been a member of the forum for quite a while now, but I am not much of a contributor, rather just searching for useful help and tips; and reading some of the amazing project threads. I’ve owned my Fabia Vrs SE since June 2011, and I am still impressed by the all-round quality of the package, which is a great tradeoff between economy and performance. I also own a 205 GTI as my second car and can definitely say I appreciate the reliability of the Fabia which is up there with the best of them. However the past winter hasn’t been too kind on the car and it now needs both a service and some other niggles sorting, and I am hoping to tap into the forums knowledge here to ensure I tick all the right boxes. Top of the list has to be a service as it is getting on for 10,000 miles since I did it in august last year. Having looked through the service guide, am I right in thinking that the following should cover everything: Oil and Oil Filter Cabin Filter Fuel Filter Sump Plug Coolant Clean Air Filter (yes I put in an aftermarket one when I bought it, blame post purchase keenness) On top of the basic servicing, a few other niggles have crept up, at 141,000 miles though I only think it is to be expected. Firstly the mpg has dropped off significantly, I suspect that the egr really needs a clean and I plan on taking this off cleaning it; and replacing the gaskets and seals. I addition I have read some of the posts on the hose and catch tank modification, I am thinking of doing this but I wanted to check whether anyone had their warning light coming on, possibly as a result of reduction in pressure at the valve? I have also noticed that there seems to be a leak in the screen wash system, probably just a split in the pipe somewhere but just want to establish whether anyone else had this problem? In addition my driver’s seatbelt has started to fray, I have no idea how this has happened but obviously it’s really not good news in the event of an accident. Is this relatively simple to swap, I am hoping it’s just a case of taking off some of the interior trim, or is there something worse lurking for me? Moving on to a couple of things I am not planning on tackling myself ( I long ago learned my own limits and the feeling of finding your car on stands with a load of bits stripped, when you discover you suddenly need a specialist tool is not a pleasant one!). I am planning on having both front wheel bearings replaced, the squeaking is becoming more noticeable and I don’t want them to become seized in the hubs. I am also planning on having the console bushes replaced with the Cupra ones at the same time; as it makes sense. How much should I budget for this work, and also can anyone recommend any good independents/specialists in the West Mids area? Lastly can anyone recommend a good body shop in the West Midlands area? The lacquer has started to peel off the spoiler, along with some prat smashing my passenger side mirror casing in a car park, added to some other scratches and stone chips I would like to get it tidied up back into top order. Oh and one final thing aimed at all the high mileage owners out there is there anything else I should be looking at in terms of preventative maintenance. I have no plans of selling the car anytime soon, so I would love to ensure continued reliability. Many Thanks, Ed
  10. Id guess that your heater resistor is on the way out. Pinned thread at the top of this thread entitled, extremely useful Fabia links is the place to look. It has part numbers and an installation guide.
  11. Have you tried looking for other sources of cars eg Pistonheads and dare I say it eBay, might just increase then number of local cars available. You want to avoid the mindset of I want a Vrs and it's the only one, so I'll have this one. Beware eBay though as it can be a bit of a clearing house, make sure you inspect before bidding. Oh and any reason why your only interested in low mileage, being diesel most will have a few miles on now as long as they are well maintained it shouldn't be a problem.
  12. Oh dear oh dear, forget what his Dad said, thats the least of his problems if the Old Bill catch wind of this video.
  13. Hi Vinjy, The stands are very inexpensive, £30 or so from Machine Mart. I suspect the other bit of kit you are looking for is an engine crane rather than a jack? In terms of just removing an engine if you are planning to rebuild it then you can simply disassemble it and remove in sections, if it's only a 1.3 you should be able to lift it out so long as you separate it. Of course you will still need a crane to put it back in eventually.
