  1. Hi offski I’ve had it from new and i met you at Santa pod and this is the car with the ‘I bought one review’ from the evo magazine. Car is currently on factory springs and shockers. I’ve been looking at the eibach springs along with new dampers but was wanting to know peoples preferences and experiences with other than factory setup.
  2. Car is now nearing 8 years old with just under 74k - what’s people changing the original front shock absorbers to on a Fabia vRS ? Any decent brands to be aware of ? Cheers
  3. Hi Rees BMACs on YouTube does a video of changing the springs on a VW golf which isn’t much different from the Fabia, still all the same principles and still a VAG. The rear is pretty straight forward however the front is more complicated, spring compressors needed and takes more time. The H&R with 40mm drop in my experience needs shorter drop links as the tyres can start to create uneven tyre wear in some cases with the original drop links. If your car is the Fabia reaction you may want to consider 17” wheels as to the 16s that we’re put on from new to close the gap a little more.
  4. That’s not too bad the new switch is around £15. After reconnecting the battery after fixing the wire I had to reset both widows for the one touch up and down which then enables the open and close feature with the key fob.
  5. Hi Sittingbull I’ve had a similar issue with my passenger door loom, fortunately only one wire was broken which was the electric window and I fixed it with a wire connector and reset the fault with a code reader. What is the problem with your widows now your loom has been replaced?
  6. Hi Chatlow, for some reason the above car is coming up as a diesel on the governments MOT checker website however in the advert on gumtree it’s clearly a petrol 1.4tsi vRS might just be a typo but seems odd. Ive owned a vRS from new since 2011 (not the faster estate however lol) theirs many horror stories about these cars and it’s a cave engine lottery I’m afraid main thing is do your homework probably that bit more than other cars. Looking at the ad the previous owner has made a few changes but only partly, like changing the rear badge to the new style one and leaving the front one and wheel badges old just seems strange changing one and not all. Engine cover looks to have traces of oil that has been cleaned off but might just be someone who was a bit clumsy topping up? Anyhows offski will be along with a bit more info to look into.
  7. It was around 3-4 years ago I got it replaced I know for a fact that I wouldn’t have paid £55.
  8. I did replace the base with a new one from Skoda I think I paid around £19, if you have a TPS (Trade parts specialist) nearby probably cost less than the dealership. Best way to do it is to go from the boot and access the roof lining from their you will find a large bolt unscrew and replace the aerial base. PS don’t worry about creasing the roof lining it straightens out after a while.
  9. Hi I had the same issue with crackling and the problem with mine was water ingress in the aerial base on the roof after replacing which is an easy job all’s good and no more crackling.
  10. Just a question what phone holders are using in your Fabia? Any good ones out there I’m looking for decent one if so post pics and links please cheers
  11. Any links to the genuine Denso spark plugs please ?
  12. The eBay ones are slightly smaller, try your local TPS will be cheaper than dealers.
  13. Refurbed Cave with a new water pump, it’s been in 2 years now not used a single drop of oil.
  14. Hi having owned one for 7 years from new and being a fan of the motor I have a biased opinion but it’s only my opinion. If I were to buy again I’d do the homework and check the MOT history and the service history of the vehicle your looking at. There’s plenty of good ones still going and and hopefully plenty of owners like me that use the correct oil, fuel and spark plugs for a twin charger.
  15. Defo not worth it in my 7 years I did it for 2 years with a spare set of gigaros and winter tyres sold them last year, better spending the money on the alloys with corrosion.
