  1. He probably thought you were going to round the roundabout, rather than over it...
  2. Because the cost of labour is so much lower in China. That's not just the wages by the way, but also the employment regulations, workplace regulations, and other protections that workers in the west enjoy. Trump looks like he is going to do his best to strip much of that away. If the US consumer wants to consume US-made goods at Chinese prices, then who is going to work in the US on Chinese wages? Probably Mexican immigrants ... oh wait...
  3. Guess they missed the maths lesson at school when the concept of "average" was explained.
  4. Flap is just cosmetic anyway, isn't it? As long as the cap is on then there's no problem.
  5. Without wishing to de-rail the thread off in to techie stuff... don't bother with iCloud. Try using Dropbox, Google Drive or Amazon Cloud Drive (sign up for an account and then install the app on your iPhone). The apps have photo upload features that will basically copy your photos off to the cloud. You can then view them there, or move them somewhere else or on to your PC etc. You can leave them on your phone still, or delete them, or just keep a few important ones.
  6. They're not allowed any special arrangement to share information - Openreach has to treat BT retail as though it was any other supplier.
  7. Perhaps they got the info before it was patched? Does your router have firewall rules allowing you to block external traffic to/from the NAS? Or even just necessary ports?
  8. To be honest, compared to your age, Access is the one that's out of date...
  9. It was yesterday, but the astravan tailgating me through a single lane motorway roadworks contraflow with 50mph limit, complete with average speed cameras. Only once i had eased down to about 40 did he get the message and back off...
  10. Putting them on the cloud gives you additional security if your house burns down or you get robbed. Dropbox, Google Drive or one of the other similar services. Drop the files in a folder and then let them sync to the cloud. Additional benefit is you can easily access the photos from other devices, mobiles etc. Often comes in handy. Don't rely 100% on these services though. Always ensure you have a local copy!
  11. Send her an invoice ... and she can then pay it in to your account https://www.paypal.com/gb/webapps/mpp/email-invoice
  12. The complete twunt in a massive mercedes van/bus thing that cut from the outside lane on to the slip road to my left at god knows what speed, leaving about a hair's breadth between his front bumper and my rear end... especially as my 7 month old girl was asleep in the back. Heart was in my mouth for a moment as it suddenly loomed in to my mirrors at speed.
  13. Try putting the number in here - this will tell you which operator to talk to http://www.aql.com/telecoms/network_lookup.php
  14. Another vote for SyncToy for local backup to removable media. Also depending on the amount and/or personal sensitivity of the data, you could consider making use of services like Dropbox, Box, Google Drive or MS OneDrive. With added benefit that you could access the data from other machines.
