Evening all, Im hoping someone can help, I've just replaced my radiator after it sprang a leak. When filling the radiator up it has developed a leak on the bottom connector. Just a drip at the moment. Any ideas if these are supposed to have a seal? Or why it could be leaking. Thanks in advance

The Turbo failure thread - how many miles till booom!
sam_W replied to hutchysrs50's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
My Turbo went just after the car clicked over 140k. Car just stopped and wouldnt start again. -
Cheers for your replies, I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a new OEM spec turbo. Any tips for cleaning out the intercooler? or can I just remove and wash it out with water and then dry it?

sam_W replied to mrstupot's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Im sure Halfords will do a battery check if you take the battery into your local store. -
Cheers for your reply. Looks like it's going to be expensive.

Evening, Driving home this morning and went to accelerate and the engine cut out and wouldn’t restart. RAC guy came out and checked over the car and no codes where shown, he took the inlet pipe off and white(ish) smoke came out the pipe. With no inlet pipe (into the throttle bodie/egr valve) the car will start and tick over on idle. As soon as the inlet pipe is put back on the car cuts out like the its being smothered with poor air. RAC guy suggested to blank off the EGR Pipe, this didn’t work and the car still wont run with the inlet pipe attached. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be, from my limited knowledge of turbos I think it could be the internal seals within the turbo that’s letting the exhaust gas recirc into the inlet side. EDIT: I can also see oil on the turbo casing. Currently at work with limited tools and time so its being recovered to my home (155miles from work) where I can get a better look at it. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Sam

Well time has come to replace the N/S console bush. I replaces the O/S one last year and it manageable job without any major hickups. Mainly thanks to this guide which was spot on Now the N/S one is a different story, 2 of the 13mm wishbone bolts seized solid, and the main front wishbone bolt seized. After some force it has now snapped near the head after being removed about 1/2" Ive half removed the console its self to be finished off tomorrow, just wondering if anyone has a part number for the console its self and a rough price?? Cheers

Torx bit to remove the plastic tray, Large socket to remove oil filter, 19mm socket to remove sump plug, Oil tray/plastic tub (5+litres) and some where to store the old oil. My local recycling center/tip, has a large oil container for used oil. Oil change is easy, I'm sure there are guides on here or in the Haynes book. Hardest bit is poring the oil in with it going all over the rocker cover

Never thought about that, Ive only ever messed about with french cars and the engines are easily defined by the way they look

Cheers for all your advice dude Much appreciated EDIT: Its an ASZ engine.

Anyone got a quick point to prod me in the right direction so I can find engine code? I know that, there can be variations with tempreture and all sorts.

Thanks or he replies, I will have a look if its a asz or blt engine. The rollers where running not far off, a few newer standard cars where running 1 or 2 below standard. The guy said his rollers normally read lower than what the engine is putting out.

Evening All, Ive not posted much in the forum, but have been browsing for a while, today I went to a rolling road meet with another forum I am part of. When I arrived there was another Fabia VRS at the meet, with mine being completely standard and his having a PD160 intake. When on the rollers the guy did a couple of runs and asked if it was mapped, now to my knowledge I dont believe it is, the garage where I bought it didnt mension anything and there is nothing in the paperwork. Below is a my printout, as you can see the reading are: 147 bhp & 259 lb/ft His made 136bhp (cant remember his torque) Could anyone help shed some light on the difference? Both where 54plate. Cheers Sam
