  1. Yep plus vat and adding £16 for courier "handling fees" they would come in at around £750 from Skoda Eshop CZ, depending on exchange rates. But it looks like you have to pick them up from CZ ... no delivery option. Caffyns come in at £814 (inc £75.75 delivery). Some MSW (OZ ? so presume are good quality) wheels come in at £650 at a couple of UK sellers (free delivery), or much less at Demon Tweaks - £513 delivered. All of these would require tyres bought separately, the one place I could get a package with the tyres I want doesn't list the Scala in is fitment selection.
  2. Still awaiting a reply from Hortons, but obviously they will be closed until Tuesday now. I may phone the dealers nearby up if no reply on Tuesday. I am planning to put some all season tyres on the 16's.
  3. I stuck the trusty Viofo 119 on the passenger side near the mirror with the pad half on the black shaded dots, the old one from mrs old car was too bulky and interfered with the sun visor going all the way forward, as my current car has a bespoke fitment camera, I put my old viofo to use. I ran the cable along the front of roof lining, down the passenger pillar rubber (keeping clear of the airbag) under the glove box and managed to slip it through into the centre console to plug in the USB C with an adaptor socket, took me about 3 minutes !
  4. Not a fan of steel wheels and wheel trims myself (for aesthetic reasons) But I am making enquiries on a set of black Alaris 16's, will see how that goes.
  5. Well I had aches and pains before I began .... a 6 hour session and I am still suffering, age doesn't come alone ! But when it rained last night, I got the beading I was hoping to see 😊 With Flash: Without Flash:
  6. 11 days after picking up the wifes '23 plate ex demo Scala Monte-Carlo, I finally got round to a proper wash and wax (doubt its had that in its near year of dealer scratch and polish 😜) A bit of Iron-X, rinse, Bilberry wheel cleaner, Bilt Hamber snow-foam and 40% traffic film cleanser mix, 2BM wash with Bilt hamber shampoo, pressure wash rinse, towel pat dry with Monster XL towels, Rain-X front and rear windows, Fusso99 wax including pan roof glass and side windows, wheels treated with Bilt hamber doublespeed wax followed by Sonax BSD, Top Kote tyre dressing, and finally the gloss black door pillars coated with Autoglym SRP ('cos it helps hide the swirls and on a daily use car I CBA to buff them out 😛). The car is moon white metallic, not that you would know unless the sun is shining bright to pick up the subtle metallic-ness ! Hopefully some epic beading to come when it rains ! I thought the reflections weren't too bad seeing as it is overcast here. .
  7. I couldn't find any UK seller listing the OEM ones new so I don't know what they would cost here., Buying from overseas with wheels is now expensive due to the VAT and import duties 🤨 But great to have clarification on clearance etc, thank you
  8. I would like to downsize the wheels on our Scala Monte Carlo to be more compliant on our poor local roads. my queries are: 1> Can anyone confirm the Monte Carlo is exactly the same mechanically as the SE model (brakes, disk sizes etc) so I can fit 16" wheels with no problem ? 2> I expected I would find new Skoda wheels for sale in the UK no problem, but it seems they are not as widely available as I thought, or my search ability is failing me ! Does anyone know if and where I can purchase genuine Skoda wheels for the Scala ? If not I will maybe look at aftermarket, but would prefer to use some genuine VAG parts if I could find them. If I am correct (?) they need to be 6.5 or 7J with 57.1 CB 100x5 bolt pattern and an ET close to 39, and fitted with 205/55/16 tyres ? I am not adverse to buying some used ones, but finding something that doesn't need refurbing (it seems a lot of people treat their wheels as feelers for where the kerb is 😄) or come with unsuitable sized or type tyres. so often aren't much cheaper than buying new.
  9. We picked up the Scala a week ago, a 1.5TSi Manual Monte Carlo. We are pleased with the car so far, Being an early '23 model it has no Kessy, and although quite sparse in terms of bells and whistles (given I have had the benefit of a lot of the vag bells and whistle on my last few cars), it has most of what we wanted. Although the ride is decent for most of the time, I do intend to downsize the wheels to some 16" when I can, to be more compliant on the crumbling and pothole strewn roads locally ! This was something I had considered before purchase, and felt it worth it as we intend to keep the car for some time, But that's another topic to post 😊
  10. Hi people, after a Skoda hiatus since 2019 (but still VAG, apart from one), We have a Skoda coming back into our family. We should be collecting the wife's Scala 1.5 Monte Carlo Manual tomorrow, an ex demo car.
  11. Hey guys, I am a little confused ... I bought a dongle way back, and when it went to subs I got free lifetime VAG Pro account. But I still have to pay for one click ? seems odd. Having read Gizmo's post, perhaps I should do it manually. Where might I find instructions for making the default "off" for lane assist for a Scala ?
  12. Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of the auto hold still being there, so thanks for that. Yes the DSG has its foibles, but I love the system, I had it on the last 2 Skoda's and the last SEAT I owned. I was hoping to see 50 mpg on the trip computer, and its reassuringly likely from your report that I might I still think as the monte Carlo is the top spec, it is missing some gadgets, but in reality its got at least the essentials. Lane control is something that I don't like too, I do have OBD11 so although I haven't used it for a while, I think I might have enough credit to at least make that default to off ! Not sure If the MC has cruise TBH ? I know my wife won't use it but I may when we go on hols, my last cars have had adaptive so I will feel a little shortchanged either way 😄 Likewise I am used to Kessy, This Keyless is entry only, still needs the key in ignition (another odd half way house decision from the accountants dept. no doubt). But That pano roof is just so nice to have, I can forgive the other (my perceived) shortcomings in spec. The upshot is we test drove a 1.5 DSG a couple of days ago, and we liked it, but it was stretching our budget, so after we decided to go for a manual I returned today to take one out for a spin. Oddly the car felt to ride a little better than the DSG (no reason it should, same spec wheels, tyres and suspension). But I found the gearbox positive and smooth, the clutch plenty light enough for the other half. So we should be picking our Scala Monte Carlo Manual at the end of the week as long as we can get our ducks in a row (for once, if there is to be a hold up it will be our end 😚).
  13. I would be interested in hearing both the good and bad you are finding, also if you could tell me what engine/gearbox and trim level do you have ? I am looking for a car for the other half,(ex demo or used less than a year old) and we have narrowed it down to 2, the Scala being one of those. I think the bells and whistles are a bit thin on this car so will be after a monte Carlo, (although I would prefer the smaller wheels and softer suspension of the SE and SE-L!). I also dont tend to like 3 cyl enignes and it does not appear to offer significantly better MPG so we are looking for a 1.5. I originally wanted the DSG for when I drive it, but having discovered it has no electronic handbrake (therefore no auto hold) I think we will plump for a manual. So, please, let us know how you are finding the car 😉
  14. Thread resurrection time ! Quite impressed to see the beading this morning after the detail I did just over 2 months ago. Fusso Soft 99 topped with Done and dusted Si Edition, holding up well I thought ☺️
