  1. I was told 12 weeks when car ordered at the end of May, but only took delivery 8 Nov. A PCH deal, so not sure if they are a lower priority than retail sales?
  2. Hi all, I realise that this post dates back to 2011, but I want to make my rear power socket switchable with the ignition so I can connect a dash cam (I don't fancy removing the rear door trim and tapping into the rear wiper cable). I can obtain a 15 amp fuse with a breakout for fuse 6, but not sure how I then connect the wire to the output side only of fuse 26? Do I need to cut another fuse with a breakout in half so only one side of the fuse is connected? Many thanks Gary
  3. If I didn't already have the vRS I would be looking at the Superb, and probably will when the PCP term on the vRS runs out at the end of next year. The new Superb offers brilliant value for money. If you spec an Octavia up to match the Superb it will probably cost more money! The reason I bought the vRS (in Dec 2013) and not a Superb II was down to the lower monthly payments for the Octavia, and that was because of a much higher Guaranteed Future Value. The vRS had a high specification (e.g. bi-xenons standard) and high GFV. Hopefully the Superb III will also have high GFVs. It's a shame the bi-xenons are now only standard on the SE-L and L&K Superbs, as they look so much better than the standard headlights. £1295 to have them fitted is a huge extra expense. I used the Skoda Car Configurator to build an Octavia SE-L with 1.4 TSi engine and DSG to a similar spec of the Superb III SE-L (metalic paint, bi-xenons, leather, sunset glass, Columbus, heated front seats, folding mirrors, LED rear lights, electrically operated boot door, electric front seat, adaptive cruise control, chrome exterior trim). The Octavia, with options, would cost £28910! The Superb costs £27355! (with metaliic paint)
  4. There were obviously slight differences here and there in terms of buttons, switches, storage, space, technology etc. However, I honestly felt like I was sat in my black Octavia III vRS 184 PS Estate (I was test driving a black SE-L 190 PS estate). They are very similar inside, and I didn't really notice a difference in comfort or quality; the vRS is excellent in both respects and is a similar price to the Superb III SE-L. Clearly the ride on the Superb was smoother and there was less road noise from the tyres, but I didn't notice any significant differences that made me feel I needed to trade in the vRS. A very nice car, don't get me wrong, but just far too similar to my current car. I actually want to test a 1.4 (150) TSi model with DSG gearbox; I think that will be a nicer, more refined experience.
  5. Just a quick question regarding the new Superb. The one I test drove was very similar to the Octavia III. One difference I noticed was the climate control OFF button was labelled REST. Pressing it with the climate control on did nothing and I could only switch the CC off by using the Colombus touch screen. Is this normal? Cheers
  6. Specialist Cars in Aberdeen made NO effort at all. A real let down. I hope Skoda UK are paying attention?! Regards Gareth
  7. I received an email inviting me to the Aberdeen launch, saying places were limited. When I clicked on the button to reserve a place, it just opened the Aberdeen Skoda website. Called them and was passed to sales. No special launch day at all, just a normal appointment to test drive their demo. Went in today and there was nothing different to a normal day. Salesman said it would have been too expensive. Pretty disappointing really. They had a black SE-L Exec estate with Alcantara seats (thought they were meant to be all leather?) and the 190 PS diesel engine. I already have a 184 PS Octavia vRS and the Superb didn't look or feel all that different from behind the wheel. Better ride but the vRS is likely to be a bit firmer anyway. A bit less road noise too on the Superb. Interesting to see a Mode button as well. Would really like to try the 1.4 DSG at some point. The PCP deals in the dealer looked very expensive (e.g. 8k deposit plus £260 odd a month over 3 years, with final payment of just over 11k). Need to find a better lease deal. Simpsons Skoda have a great deal on the Yeti L&K 1.4 tsi 4x4 as the moment, so hoping they'll do something for the Superb. I'll probably wait a few months though, especially given the problems with standard and optional kit when the Octavia came out. Regards Gareth
  8. Not fitted with the black pack, but here's a pic of mine.
  9. I fitted front and rear mudflaps to my vRs estate today. Ordered them from Ireland last week and they were delivered by Yodel on Monday. They're straightforward to fit. Two screws to be removed (hex 25 I believe) from each corner. It's a tight squeeze for the rears but possible without removing the wheels, with the right sized tools. I had an additional clip (supplied) to fit on the rear nearside and a trim popper to remove on the rear offside. Mudflaps then attached with original four screws and an additional screw on rear nearside and replacement popper on the rear offside. Fronts similar; four screws removed, mudflaps fitted, screws replaced. The hole that needs screwing is through plastic and very straightforward. Drill it with the mudflaps in place. Use supplied trim popper in that hole. Moving front wheels lock to lock, one way to attach the screws, the other way to drill the hole. No hot water required. They fitted perfectly.
  10. Delivery to Northern Ireland gives a total cost of 32 euros. It's 15 euros to have them delivered to the rest of the UK, giving a total of 45.47 euros. Or did you enter an offer code?

  12. I've ordered front and rears from Skoda Parts Ireland, (otherwise known as Burns Car Sales) after following a link on one of the other threads. Just under 45 euros delivered to Scotland for genuine Skoda parts, so much cheaper than those ordered from UK dealers. After reading all the posts on how easy they are to fit, I'll be doing them myself. I'll keep you updated. EDIT: Coincidentally posted this exactly the same time as the post above! 15 euros to post to mainland UK, hence 45 euros for mine.
  13. I got the wheels from Oponeo. I've used them to buy tyres before and they were very efficient. This time they were a bit useless. First they advertised the tyres at £50 each, which must have been a misprice because they then said they weren't in stock before re-advertising them for £96 each! They are currently £88 for the H rated tyres. In the end I ordered the tyres from Tyre Leader for about £87 each. They arrived fairly promptly, although two on one day, the other two the day after. For the wheels, Oponeo took my payment 5 times (eventually refunded) due to a problem with their online payment system, then they said they wouldn't fit my car! After a few irate phone calls they eventually agreed they would fit. I didn't receive the wheels until nearly two weeks after ordering and then they forgot the spigot rings which I had to order off Ebay. Total cost for the wheels was £356. They're currently £109 each so you may find them cheaper elsewhere. Oponeo are easy enough to contact and do try to sort things, but it wasn't a great service this time round.
  14. The only other thing I needed were spigot rings as the wheels are for Mercedes hub size of 66.6mm and the Skoda is 57.1mm. The alloy wheel seller forgot to include these, but I bought them from Ebay for under a fiver.
  15. Just fitted winter wheels and tyres to my vRS estate. They're Wolfrace GB DH 17 inch alloys fitted with Avon Ice Touring 205/50R17 93H XL tyres. Here are the before and after pics. Before: After: I chose the Wolfrace because they look similar to the OEM alloys. I've only done a short test drive but the ride seems smoother and quieter than on the 18 inch OEMs.
