  1. Really helpful, exactly fits the symptoms. I have been head scratching as the drain ducts were clear. Will give your remedy a try, many thanks :)
  2. After following this, the gearchange on my Mk1 Octavia six speed is now perfect, thanks.
  3. Thanks so much for making this video, absolutely brilliant!!
  4. Hi All, Can anyone tell me where the parking sensor control module is located on a 2004 Mk1 Octavia Hatchback? We're a two Skoda family, the other car being a 2003 Mk1 Octavia Estate. The module on the estate is located just behind the rear nearside wheel arch as stated in the Haynes Manual, but I'm at a complete loss as where it's sited in the hatchback. Both cars are the Elegance model with the 130bhp Tdi engine and 6 speed gearbox. Any help gratefully received. Thanks, Phil
  5. Problem is now fixed. Bought a secondhand control unit and loom from a breakers. Rather than fit the complete loom I decided just to use the connector that plugs onto the control unit which meant having to cut through the loom and then rejoin all of the wires to the new connector. On doing so I found that about five of the wires had started to corrode and turn black. Fortunately the corrosion had not travelled the length of the wire and I was able to cut out the corroded part and replace with new wire. The central locking now works fine and the issue with the offside electric mirror not adjusting is also fixed.
  6. After spending several hours I eventually managed to get the mechanism out of the door and stripped down but unfortunately all of the microswitches in the unit were ok. I've since spoken to a Skoda mechanic who suggested that it could be the control unit that sits in the drivers door and is located as part of the electric window assembly and to check for corroded pins. He said I'd need to replace the controller and the loom as well. I did remove the control unit and found some corrosion on the pins of the connector but after cleaning the pins and the socket and putting it all back together it's still exactly the same. I suppose it's not possible to be sure that the cleaned up pins are 100% good though but I was fairly happy with them. I guess though that a fault with the contoller might account for the other problem as well regarding the mirrors.
  7. Hi Everyone, I've never owned a Skoda before and have just joined this group, and I'm really hoping to gain some knowledge!! I've just bought a1.9 Octavia Elegance estate and it has the following two faults. The central locking works fine when operated manually using the key inserted into the door lock. But when using the remote function all the doors lock and unlock ok except for the drivers door lock which does nothing. From what I've read on here it maybe a microswitch problem or poor soldered connection in the drivers door locking mechanism. I've started to dismantle the door to get to the unit but have had to call a halt as it's getting dark now. The other issue is that the drivers door mirror does not adjust electrically, but the left hand one adjusts regardless of whether the control knob on the drivers door is set to either left or right. Apart from the above two faults the rest of the car seems fine. Any help or advice as to the fixing either of the above would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Phil
