  1. I've had my VRS for over a month now and I have to say the road noise seems fine (I have Conti's). Just drove 150 miles yesterday and was really impressed with the overall performance of the car.
  2. Hi all, I have recently upgraded my dipped headlight bulbs to Osram Silverstars which have made a huge difference when driving through the country roads at night. The problem was however, 2nite when driving back from my friends house I had at least half a dozen cars flash or put their full beams in my face (presumably cos my Silverstars are nice and bright) . This is very frustrating as I am definately not hitting them with my full beams and they are in turn dazzling me :finger: . Has anybody else on the forum had this problem and if so is there a possible solution. I have adjusted the level of the bulbs slightly but is seems to compromise the reach of my dipped headlights which is quite impressive. Even at doing this a few people still flashed. Help please. Cheers
  3. Hi all, Thanks a lot for your input, installed my green air filter yesterday with success although I did have to stretch it a little as it isn't as snug as the manufacturer's one. Ordered my PD160 air intake parts yesterday too along with a strut brace. Stealers are doing it for
  4. Cheers dude, it all makes perfect sense now and I feel like a class A tw4t :D . Not sumthin I would be prepared to spend the money on at this stage to be honest (although credit for your creativity) as I wana do the more meaty mods shall we say. From the looks of your engine it looks like you have done a "few" mods. What is the silver piping coming from the front grille area? Cold air intake? Im new to the Vrs/Skoda world and am looking for ideas. Cheers
  5. Hi Gents, Excuse my ignorance but what the Friar Tuck is a bonnet lifter and what benefits does it have to performance etc etc??
  6. Cheers Lummox, You input seems to be held in high regard so i'll take you word as Gospel. Just another quick question. Hopefully gonna get a Seat Strut brace, and PD160 air intake. I have got the part numbers off fabia-vrs.com but was wondering what would be a reasonable price to pay for these parts from a Seat dealer. Don't want some chancer takin the sheila gish if you get me ? Cheers......
  7. Hi all, I just received delivery of my Green Panel filter today from Demon Tweeks. Unfortunately owing to the inclement weather when opening the filter the box was in bits. Thankfully the instructions and filter are fine. I was just wondering if somebody had a picture of a Vrs air filter or could describe the shape for me as when I ordered the filter I could only choose the 1.9tdi 100bhp Fabia. The filter is like a triangle with a square corner if that makes sense. I presumed that the panel filter would be a rectangular shape but admittedly I have not looked at the current filter area as I have only just got the car. I am just a bit apprehensive as I know I wont be able to return the filter if I have the wrong one. I would appreciate your help Cheers
  8. Problem sorted. Turns out the bonnet wasn't closed properly. Thanks for the advice as it saved me the embaressing trip to see the dealer. Cheers
  9. Whelan that is hard luck lad and I really feel for you. When I was 17 I managed to crash my mum's car (1.2 Renault Clio) three times and wrote it off on the 3rd occasion, something which to this day haunts me cos I should have died. The problem was I thought I was invincible, coupled by the fact I was young, stupid and that my first crashes were not serious enough. I am not in the best position to comment or question your version of events and am aware that what you thought may have happened may well be different to what actually did happen. It looks to me that you have managed to oversteer (too much power heading out of the roundabout), panicked and then overcorrected sending you straight into the barrier. The car would hold its momentum well owing to its weight which would account for why you didn't slow down much once you realised you were out of control. Out if interest, what was the condition of the road and was there really oil? Were the police called? Did you report the RTC? I have to say that I thought your previous video posts were interesting but have obviously caused controversy in some quarters. The main thing of course is you are ok, you were on your own (nobody suffering from a sudden bout of claim-itis) and hopefully are not being done by the local Constabulary for dangerous driving (which nearly happened to me). All I can say is that I hope you get the motor sorted and are back on the road in good time. Learn from this, remember your limits and don't make the same mistake as me by doing it all over again. As for the people who have used this as a means to insult you further I think they should swiftly wind their necks in!! He has learn't his lesson, allbeit the hard way and I don't think he should be dragged through the mill any further. Show a bit of compassion, get behind a fellow Skoda driver because someday one of you will crash and even if it isn't ur fault you will know just how sh*te it can feel. Good luck and all the Geoge Best cos it could have been a lot worse.
  10. Hi All, I got into may car this afternoon and there was light rain. I am positive that the first phase of the front wiper was working perfectly as I had to ajust the wiper speed cos it was that annoying rain that is not too light but not heavy enough if you get me. However I got into the car this evening to go to footy and low and behold the first phase is no longer working, just the 2nd and 3rd phases. The car is not even two weeks old so I am a bit worried. I changed my CD player to a Kenwood, upgraded my headlight bulbs and put Supagard in the interior and exterior so I am confident this is not a fault on my part. Anybody have any idea what the problem is? Surely if it was the fuses or the motor then the wipers would be out completely. I would appreciate a bit of advice before I call at the dealer.
  11. It really makes me laugh when somebody can't read a post correctly, then posts their own full of spelling and grammatical errors . If you read my origional post correctly I think you will withdraw that comment. I am not trying to go down the line of saying I was involved in a race as I wasn't, nor would I be. However, I don't see what the problem is with asking about the credentials of another car, just like the Mini Cooper v VRS. Hope this clarifies the situation......
  12. Hello people, I was on my way back from seeing my relatives today when I had an encounter with a Saxo VTS. Basically he nailed it when overtaking a line of cars on a long straight and I duely followed. I was surprised at the speed of the VTS but was able to keep up (not giving full throttle and only 3/4 power as still running in engine). Is the Fabia quicker than the VTS and have any of you fine fellows encountered one? When I stopped beside him at the traffic lights I think he was shocked at how my vRS had been pushing him along! His face was a picture and I was left with a smug grin . Another Skoda surprise, any opinions?
