  1. Jango as mentioned above I replaced the complete steering rack /servo item. Not cheap and the fitting either but worth every penny having my car back! Simply a joy to ride now with all the new bushes and everything else. I used a used one as there good ones out there from breakers. Low mileage recommended but not guaranteed. stubunceand davidbirdthanxs a bunch..... on a Pre FL RS MODEL the part you need is 061K1423051CD or 081K1423051CP other heavier cars like TDI may have similar numbers but I do not know if would be 100% compatible

    My Cars = A retrsospect

    past. present and hopefully future?
  3. Found a decent newly renovated set from a Audi S6. The car is lowered with lowering springs maybe 40mm and fitment leaves maybe 1 or 2 mm free space between the tyre and the actual shock absorber! But it fits! What about it..be nice
  4. maybe not related but has anyone tried dying the alcantara to a darker grey or even black? As we all know it is a RS feature but not the smartest. It may even look better with a darker color to match the roof! If you have can you post any pictures?
  5. gg00gg, Did you ever get a chance to user version 13 I am just curious if it works on a RNS510? ANybody tried this? thanxs Ron
  6. Stu, Thanxs for the feedbackm we are on the same line there. I have noticed no lag or vibrating on the SR but for the safe sake and running out of loud music I will replace it. Do you or anybody else know if there is a "better" SR out there than the original 1K1423051CD? I have seen that there are a whole bunch of different ones out there and I do this big job then I would prefer doing it right. Cheers guys Greetings Ron
  7. Hi Guys, It seems at DavidBird hit it on the spot quite early so did stubunce when confirming that it seems to be the steering rack. The only definite way to know is when taking the whole thing off. Everything else has been done...... At least my enthusiasm is coming back and so is the sun again we will have many future mailes together again....my Octi and I Cheers you all Greetings Ron
  8. Hu Mike, The car had a "cosmetic" paintover. I do not think they toook off the doors. It is not leaking hopefully.but the noise jsu goes away wuth very loud music..... :( I appreaciate the tip and will definitly check those seals. I appreciate it. Thanxs Ron
  9. does anybody happen to know the part number on a 2006 steering rack?
  10. Stubunce, I still have the issue and basically am losing faith. Just a quicj question, when you had the issue did you feel anything wrong with the stertring at all? I mean, mine knocks but when driving it just goes away with no issues at all. I meana if it where to be a steering rack should it not showsomehow its loose or something. I mean I have learned to live (I do hate it) but it has not gone worse at all... Therefore spending 300 Pounds is yet Another cost I would like to investigate but I have luterally exchanged the whole front suspension..... even trying some TT wishbones and all. Everytime I change something then I have to take a trip to the tyre shop for the Wheels to be facing forward.....about 100 euro a pop. I anybody else have some input please assist. Thanxs
  11. Hi All, Wonder if anybody else has the similar problem and hopefully somebody has found a solution. Even since my car har been repainted I hear a almost constant whistling sound inside the cabin. Seems to come from the small back window...I have a Sedan 4 doors Octavia pre FL RS. I have Heard otther peopel have the same issue and this seems to be a so called "issue" with old Octis. it does not help that we have Cold Winters in Sweden and the rubber might expand and such but this happens in the summer aswell. It is not the door seals but it is more the rubber bits that keep the windows in Place. I would appreciate if anybody kan help. Thank you!
  12. I had completly given up on this and then miraculously I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Cheers! Thanks guys!
  13. Sorry for the late response, front left i s negative. Right is within the accepted value. Tyre guys says that camber cannot be adjusted.
  14. good for you David, Unfortunately I have Changed every weak link in the front suspension and drop link, steering links, and all is new and installed the so called improved parts with urethane instead of the black rubber. Latest was also that my tyre guy could not get it straighten out either. Camber was still about 1 degree wrong only on the left. I am out of my wits with this and basically am learning to live with it. I wish I have my Golf GTI 16v...life was so much easier as cars now are not here to last! If somebody can think where this noise comes from and cana help please do.
