  1. Arrr thank you for the offer James, though I really dont do passanger to well just ask the wife she wont drive anywhere if I am going to be in the car lol.
  2. Although I agree to an extent thats not entirly true is it. If the car is pretty naf round the bend which a stock Fabia is and the car only has 86bhp it not exactly a setup to get your adrenaline going, sitting there thinking OMG how long is this straight will it ever end is not really the point of a track day. The car you used as an example is an ex F3 car it has near enough the same power, delivered in most likely a better way for track use, then its also alot lighter and lower with better suspension setup, better tyres, better brake setup, so not really comparable. Would you really enjoy driving something on the track you know wont be any good on the straights, wont be any good on the brakes and wont be any good round the bends?
  3. Track day would be somewhat boring in my 1.2tsi. :( Far too much body roll on these as standard too so not like it would be good in the bends either, standard brakes would not stand up well to a track day either to be honest. :/ Just not the right car for track days IMO, without alot of mods anyway. Obviously different story all together if you got a VRS.
  4. I have got a terrible rattle that seems to come from the engine bay when under hard acceleration in 2nd and 3rd its most noticeable as its these gears that I tend to thrash through the gears full throttle once warm. I will be going the dealership to see what they say but wanted to findout if any of you have had the same issue at all with the 1.2 TSI engine.
  5. It's the 1.4 TSI 180bhp they recommend the higher octane fuel, for the 1.2tsi I have noticed no difference at all to be honest when running higher octane fuel, except the extra cost.
  6. Shame these void warranty and some insurance companies wont allow them as I would like to have done this, but car is in warranty and my current insurance will not allow any modiforcations. :(
  7. Sounds about right makes you wonder if the dealer are actually doing PDI's anymore or if they do the bare minimum and say its ready.
  8. Yeah they are I can clearly see where they are but agree they do look quite good actually, I always thought they looked naf on other cars in the past.
  9. Make sure you get the MDI cable you wanted. Obviously check for any defects, scratches in paint ect. Obviously check oil level and tyre pressures once you got it, this should have been done during PDI but its been known in the past that its not been done.
  10. There made by Fiat and the people I know who had Fiat's have had no end of troubles with them. Personally never owned one always avoided them due to reliability issues.
  11. I find the stigma hilarious generally, end of the day I got VW Polo or Seat Ibiza but paying a lot less for it. Also quite hilarious to see how offended some people are when you over take them. Few days ago I was coming up to a Mondeo 2.0 Zetec following a Hilux both doing about 50 in a 60 zone, there was a chance for the Mondeo to overtake and he didn't. So I decided to overtake him, I did not have the room to take both of them now as I waited for the Mondeo to go and he didn't. So after I pull back in the gap between them due to aproching solid white line and blind bend, the Mondeo decides he is offended to be overtaken by a Skoda Fabia, so overtakes me and the Hilux on solid white lines going round the bend, car come the other way had to slam their anchors on and the Hilux had to slam his anchors on to let the Mondeo back in (Just). hairy moment for all involved thanks to the idiot in the Mondeo. But it gets better, after the bend I had a safe chance to over take the Hilux so did, further up I could see the Mondeo trying for another stupid overtake, he only just got back in on the right side of the road again so nearly trashed his car and other people twice now within half a mile of driving, just because I overtook him. Anyway I had another safe chance to overtake and was right behind this Mondeo now, so started flashing and beeping at him to try and get him to pull over, to which he ignored me, gets closer to town and I get a chance to pull up next to him with the window down to say whats your problem why you risking peoples lives making ridiculous maneuvers? His response was **** off and just kept ignoring me when I tried to talk to him, road rage moment then broke out nearly. Lights change to green and he goes to pull off so I pulled off rather vigorously with a cloud of smoke then cuts across in front of him where he then stayed behind me, I so wanted to get out and knock him out to be honest, all I could think is what if it was my Wife coming the other way. So angry about it, I am all for fast driving, but overtaking 2 cars going round a bend with solid white lines is pure idiotic. An all just because a Skoda Fabia overtook him.
  12. Wrong. If that's the case how is it a 1.0 eco boost engine can now make more power than an old 1.6 16v engine, yet be a lot better on fuel? Technology has changed a lot in the last 10 years and some engines are newer design than other meaning they are more fuel economical, the MPG figures are pretty much the same for Skoda 1.6tdi engine weather the higher or lower output.
  13. As other have already mentioned what your experiencing is simply turbo lag, only way to fix the issue is to adjust your driving style really. The turbo lag on the 1.2 tsi is nothing compared to most turbo cars, though can catch you out I suppose. I cant say it has ever effected me, though I drive with a lot of conviction lets say. If its not bouncing off the limiter everywhere I go then I aint in the car. (Slight exaggeration obviously)
  14. Personally dont get why you would bother, the Monte is not fast enough to worry about bigger brakes. How fast are you going everywhere for this to be an issue? I tend to be going faster than I should and often brake from just over 100mph - 20mph yet cant say I have ever thought my brakes are not upto the job. I certainly would not waste time and money doing the rears and just upgrade the fronts if you really feel the need too, though personally as I say think its a waste of money unless you do alot of track racing or something.
