  1. Had my fronts replaced at 80k & the rears at 115k. Some corrosion, but basically worn out.
  2. I've had mine for 5 years now, from new. It is a 2012 VRS DSG Diesel Estate. Just clocked over 120,000 miles. Cambelt on this model is 5 years, had mine done (with water pump) last months (116k). I think pre mine is was 4 years or 115k (ish). The only things I've had done, apart from the normal servicing. Front disks & pads at 80K Aircon compressor at 100K front console bushes at 110k Rear shocks & springs At 110K - didn't need springs, but as it was in bit, in the end didn't get charged for them, as they sent the fronts Rear disks & Pads & a brake caliper at 116k. Never had problems with the front suspension noise or mooing brakes Still pulls very well & averages around 50mpg, on my 100 mile round trip to work Depends how high, you want to go mileage wise for 6k
  3. Had the same issue, as mine had a kenwood fitted from New. Just took my original one to the dealer, it was out of the car, they read the serial number on the side and gave me the code. No charge, no hassle, then flogged it on Ebay.
  4. I was quoted £900, to replace my compressor, by the dealer. Ended up paying about £380, for a chap to come to the house, supply & fit. Saying that, I was quoted £300 to replace front console bushes by dealer, got it done for £70 at local garage
  5. http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/gatwick-airport-rogue-parking-company-11533514 Purple Parking are mentioned
  6. THanks for all your reply, I have had the shockers checked and they are shot, and one of the bushes on the rear track had gone, So these are being changed on Monday, they will check the springs when it is in bits, will see what happens. The towbar, when detached, it leaves the bit on the car, which is as low, as when towbar is attached
  7. My VRS estate 2012, is approaching 115K, The tow bar has started to catch on my drive, which I assume is its bottom sagging. Is it the springs / shockers or both ? I'm not technically minded, so I would appreciate some advise. Many Thanks in advance Mike
  8. I have the same car as you, but with 110K on the clock. The only exta things I had replaced up to now are The front disk & pads @ 80K Aircon compressor at 105K & DSG oil every 40K. I expect to keep mines for a few years yet, as it is still very reliable and a cambelt / waterpump every 5 years isn't too bad - compare to some other makes Mileage wise, as skodas are used as taxis, the sky could be the limit
  9. 10. Mine was £950 fitted, but that was 10 years ago
  11. We've had water softners for the last 25 years. Both houses were in hard / very hard water areas - using the tester that came with our new dishwasher / washing machines The first one, in the last house was an electric one, which used the salt tablets in bags. It worked well, no limescale or issues with limescale in appliances / kettles. The only issue was it was in the loft, a bit of a mare, getting the 25kg sacks of salt up there. When we moved, there was no water softner for a few months and everything was getting limescale and we were using a lot of soap etc. We had a twintec, salt block softner fitted about 10 years ago, we were returned to normal service, no limescale. As we had this one fitted, it was easy access in a cupboard in the kitchen
  12. I have the same car as you, year / VRS. Mine lasted 80.000. were changed as the disks had a "lip"
  13. I had a SAC doing 81 in a 70, I think it depends where you are caught
  14. Saw parkers was being a bit tight not wanting to pay the 3.99 for adjusted mikes. We buy any car recon on £6295 May just hang onto to it until it dies, which may be a long time
  15. Thanks for ypu replies, when I looked on autotrader, I only looked within 100miles of me down south and there was nothing (should have gone national) Cheers Mike
