  1. Hello dear forum, My octavia has the known issue with being quite difficult to start (the starter cranks for several seconds) when the engine is warm/hot. When the engine is cold, there is no problems at all. Now I have had few suggestions on what to do from different sources, but I would really like to hear your opinion: 1. some suggest to install a new starter (which I would prefer, since it is not preforming according to the specs) 2. others suggests to get an engine software upgrade (since it expects the starter to reach a certain rpm, but it eventually never comes due to a "broken" starter). This option is here more costly than number 1, and I sill have a "broken" starter, but it might remove the problem (evt. temporaly). 3. som suggests that a new battery may help on this: then I dont know why there is no change on this when the engine is cold? Please let me know wht you think I should do!? All the best.
  2. Dear John, I know what you mean. I must admit I havent looked for the sensor, I just assumed that it wasnt there, since it didnt work properly, but I will take a look later today. Thanks.
  3. Well thats also what my instruction manual says, however, I cannot activate the alarm. E.g. If I sit in the car and lock it, the alarm should go off after a couple of minutes, but it does not! So I dont think I have the cabin sensor detecting movement. Otherwise I have no idea how to use it. I would have heard the alarm, its less than 5 meter from my bedroom window, and when the alarm is on (if I activate it as describe above) all my neighbourgs complain about it!
  4. Dear all, after theft in my car (and a missing sat nav), I would like to install the cabin alarm, which I think is the part number: 1Z0951171A Does any of you have a guide how to install and programm the unit? My car does already have an alarm going off when the door is opened manually with the key (and the key is not inserted in the car) or if you unplug a trailer while the car is locked. It also have the alarm switches between the front and rear door. I hope you are able to help me!
  5. Hello everybody, and happy new year. I have an indicator arm that needs to be changed (it acts very funny and blinks left when right is applied, and often it doesnt come on etc). I dont think it is the blinker-relay, since the hazard lights works fine. Therefore I think I need a new stalk or arm. Do any of you have a guide that can help me to do it. I have today removed the top and bottom covers behind the steering wheel, and it seems like that I have to remove the steering wheel and the airbag, is that true? All the best...
  6. Well, there are no POIs on the 2012 map disc. I have just installed the new map. I have a LED model C Columbus, and I can be infront of a hospital, and search for hospitals for example, and it says "nothing found". So I dont think there are any POI on this map disc (at least not in my country, Denmark). But I can read that there are already many (homemade) files that contain POI, one can put on the 10 GB partition of the HDD on Columbus for the maps, POI etc... So I am searching if someone could tell me where to find these files...
  7. Hello everybody, I would like to know where to get hold on a file for the Columbus POI files. I can understand that you can make you own, but Im a novice on this field, and it seems to be a lot of work. I would like to have for the whole Europe, since I travel a lot, then it could be nice to get the local POIs. Where do I find a file that contain this information? THX
  8. Mannyo, thanks... Maybe you know a guide online of how to change it on an Octavia. The only ones I could find is on Golfs and so on. What part number do I need for chaning this???
  9. Hello everybody, I have had a periodically flashing of the engine fail light... After running througt a VAGCOM, the following was shown: Address 01: Engine Labels: 03G-906-016-BKC.lbl Control Module Part Number: 03G 906 016 DJ HW: 028 101 188 3 Component and/or Version: R4 1,9L EDC G000SG 6250 Software Coding: 0000071 Work Shop Code: WSC 73430 790 00000 VCID: 6ED9D061798C249 1 Fault Found: 16955 - Brake Switch (F) P0571 - 000 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent Freeze Frame: RPM: 798 /min Torque: 32.0 Nm Speed: 61.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 14.44 V Bin. Bits: 00001110 Torque: 164.0 Nm Bin. Bits: 0 01 0 Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0 Can anyone tell me how to change the brake light signal, and what the part number is for a Octavia II 1,9 TDI? Thanks...
  10. All right. I will check it out with a multimeter, with the ignition on and off, and hopefully, one or two can be used... Thanks for your reply...
  11. WOW, thank you very much, I think I now got it... Just one last thing on how to install the above-mentioned fuse tap: Is it correct, that I have to remove one fuse from the fusebox with ign.on power (for ex. headlights), and replace it with the fuse tap, and insert the removed fuse into the fuse tap, and then just connect the red wire to the + on my DVD? (I hope you get what I mean)
  12. OK, the fuse tap makes sense... however I dont need the 12v socket, since my system does not have a cigarete plug (the "male" of the socket), but just have a red and a black wire...
  13. Ok, just pick any fuse or a particular one? Sorry, im quite new at this in newer cars... Dont want to mess anything up... Maybe you know a guide on the internet describing how and where to connect it... Thanks for your reply... -Dino
  14. Hello again, I am sorry for posting this here also, but under the other category I wasnt able to get an answer. I have a DVD in the headrests which I want to permanently connect to the power (12V), so it is only on, when the car is on. Therefore the cigarette plug is not an option. Somebody must have done this before... I am so sorry if you think this is spam.,.. -Dino
  15. Hello dear all, I have a 05 Octavia II, and I would like to install my recently purchased DVD players inbuilt in headrests. However I would like it to be permanently connected to the power, so I dont have any loose cords in the car for power to the cigar-lighter. I have four cables coming out of the connector box for the two dvds, these are: Red (ACC) Yellow (B+) Black (GND) Brown (IR Out) I can tell that the B+ and GND should be directly attached to the battery (maybe with a fuse inbetween), but where can I attach the ACC and IR Out cable? I can understand that the power for the cigarette outlet is always ON, so that might be an option for connecting the B+... Do you know any DIY guides for this procedure... All the best, Dino
