  2. I am selling my much loved little daily hack. It is the Special Edition version of which only 1000 were made with full black limited edition VRS leather with the build number embroidered on it, cruise control, 6 CD multi-changer and metallic blue paint. It has absolutely zero mechanical faults and runs perfectly, returning an average of around 58mpg from its 130bhp 1.9 turbo diesel engine. Motorway mpg is around 70mpg. It is currently sitting at 79,800 miles, but this will go up as it is my daily driver. I have had it for about 18 months and in that time I have made a couple of tasteful modifications as follows: OEM alloy wheels powder coated in anthracite with new VRS centre caps – 100% completely unmarked Replacement of the OEM suspension with AP shock absorbers and lowering springs (30mm drop) Full set of front suspension Powerflex poly bushes Leon Cupra R Front Splitter Pipercross Upgraded Panel Air Filter LED sidelights Team HEKO Wind Deflectors Porsche 911 Coolant Cap Audi R8 Oil Cap Bentley 2 button Remote Fob & Key The original suspension struts and springs, coolant cap, oil cap are included in the sale. All the services apart from 1 were carried out by Skoda Main Dealer/Specialist. The last service was carried out on 25th April 2015 by the Skoda Main Dealer at 76,725 miles, so there is nearly another 7,000 miles until the next service is due. Cambelt Service was carried out at 65,035 miles. Both Front and Rear brake discs and pads were replaced at the same time. MOT expires 22nd December 2015 and there were no advisories on the last MOT. Car Tax is low band at £130 per year. I have a full folder of all the invoices, receipts and service history Bad points As with any 8 year old car it has a few stone chips to the front bonnet and the odd hairline scrape that will come out with a machine polish. There was lacquer missing from the roof spoiler, which is a common issue, but I have had that repaired. There was also a ding on the rear passenger sill and a scrape and I have had those repaired also. I have also reduced the price by another £250 as well as repairing these issues. All in all it is a reliable, mile munching, quick, cheap to run and maintain car that has given me zero mechanical issues since I have owned it. I am the 3rd owner of the car. Taking into consideration the couple of minor points as pointed out above, I will be pricing the car at £4,750, but will take a fair offer from a Briskoda member. Any silly offers will be disregarded as I am in no hurry to sell at all. Any test drives will be conducted by me unless you have proof of fully comprehensive insurance for my car (not “your insurance entitles you to drive other cars”) or the full asking price in cash in my hand. I am based in Newcastle upon Tyne 5 minutes drive from Newcastle International Airport
  3. The cheaper brands will do just fine mate. The 3 you have mentioned are spot on to use.
  4. Here's a very good guide written by a fellow scooby owner http://www.polishedswiss.com/engine-bay/4529645625
  5. The thing is mate depending on how dirty the engine bay is you will probably need a couple of cleans to get it done properly. The Subaru engine bays are a pain in the backside because they are so cramped being a boxer engine. If you lived close to Newcastle upon Tyne mate I would give you a hand doing it - good luck and make sure you take a before & after photo. Is it your Skoda you are doing or another make of car? I did my Fabia engine bay and it was a piece of cake. Much easier than any Subaru All the best!
  6. Cheers mate. I warm up the engine gently for 5 minutes. Then I give the bay a soak with a garden hose, not a pressure washer. If you have an air filter cover it with a plastic bag and any exposed electrics. Then I use either Meguiars Engine Clean or Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner and spray the whole bay down. Then I use a soft bristle brush to agitate the cleaner on the whole bay, then rinse with the garden hose again. Use some old microfibres to mop up the excess water and any that is lying in crevices, etc. Then I would either spray the bay with Meguiars Engine Dress and wipe down with a microfibre or I would spray some Areospace 303 Protectant over the whole bay and close the bonnet and leave overnight. You can also massage in the Aerospace 303 and buff off. Alternatively use Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner and spray on and buff off. For any very stubborn oil & grease that the cleaners won't remove I spray some standard brake & clutch cleaner directly on to a microfibre cloth and then wipe the stubborn oil/grease off with the microfibre. Hope this helps
  7. She was indeed - and even better looking in the flesh believe it or not. Lovely personality and down to earth - unfortunately I had to drive her to the photo shoot and back as there was no room in photographers car with all the lighting....poor me!
  8. I was lucky enough to be approached by a photographer friend of mine and asked if I would let him do a photo shoot with my car and one of his models - of course I couldn't say no
  9. Well the Type R has had some serious modifications and it is getting somewhere close to how I want it. Main focus for me was the engine bay Before: After Although I put it into the paintshop to get the bodykit refurbed, repainted, new black grilles fitted & fitted correctly as it was in a bit of a state. Much better now: Also stripped the wheels back with Bilberry, Tardis & IronX, followed by a good wash & hand dry and then a coat of Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour - awesome stuff Need to finish off the interior, engine bay & glass before The Northern Big One on Sunday at Light Water Valley - Subaru event with all proceeds to charity. There will be 70 Subarus from my club North East Subaru Forum convoying down the A1 from Newcastle to Ripon - so if you are travelling A1 South from 08.00am on Sunday 29th June....GET OUT OF THE WAY
  10. See here mate: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/302744-focus-rs-goinggetting-new-subaru-sti-in-may/?p=3717602
  11. One of the lads on our Subaru forum went to drive this one Saturday and he said it drives lovely........good luck with it mate
  12. All 4 shocks & springs from my Fabia VRS SE which have covered 67,000 miles, as I have just replaced them with AP shocks & Lowering Springs. £70 collected from Newcastle upon Tyne. In perfect working order when removed. Don't really want to have to post but if you want to arrange your own courier to pick up then please feel free to do so.
  13. I know mate - it is a terrible feeling! Getting the Fabia VRS as a daily and a Subaru for the weekend run outs with the lads in the Subaru club was a wise decision. I wish I had have done it 2 years ago though instead of just now.
  14. Sorry! It will be cleaner when I've finished with it :sun:
