  1. Hi all, I have the indicator/wiper stalks from a mk3 Octavia surplus to my requirements from when I had my 2013 car upgraded to cruise control. Does anyone want these, or know of anywhere I could pass them on for re-use? Seems a waste to throw away, but I have tried selling on eBay for some time now, and no takers so far! In good condition (no wear or marks). Part number is 5Q0953507AA. No end buttons for cruise control/trip computer on either stalk. Thanks!
  2. There's no way they will do this when Skoda UK are telling them that version with the stalks without the trip computer switches won't work in my car, and the one they've already fitted is the correct one for my chassis number. It will obviously cost them to do the swap, and they can't return the one they've already fitted as it's an accessory. I need evidence to take to them so show that Skoda are wrong and that the other one will in fact work and should be fitted instead. They're not going to take my word for it.
  3. Still haven't heard from the installing dealer, so phoned Skoda Customer Service to get a second opinion. They said that the part installed (with the trip computer switches) was the correct one for my car, and that the other CC part would be only for cars without an onboard computer, and would have different circuitry to enable the cruise control to work. They said they didn't have a part suitable for my car that matched the factory version. Since Skoda UK and the dealer are clearly working off just what their computer tells them and no actual practical experience, I don't think I'm going to get anywhere with this. Anyone have any suggestions?!
  4. They do know that the buttons shouldn't be there, it's just that they are not confident that the other part is actually the correct one as it states on their Accessories intranet that the other part is "only for vehicles without on board computer or multi-function steering wheel". It seems they've been misled by the Skoda information, but obviously it will cost them to put it right once they've been convinced the other part will work. I'm waiting for the after-sales manager to return to work.
  5. Spoke to the dealer again today as I hadn't heard back from them. They said that they had submitted a technical request to Skoda Parts (or something to that effect), who had come back to them confirming that the part they fitted was the correct one for my car, despite having an extra switch. I asked if they knew (or had asked Skoda Parts) what the difference was between the two cruise control part numbers (apart from the trip computer buttons), and they said they didn't know, so would try to find out.
  6. Thanks. I told them this when I booked it in, but they obviously decided they knew best. I did wonder if the part "without computer" would be missing something that would also prevent the MFSW from working, but you saying this suggests it won't. It doesn't help that the Skoda Accessories website states that the other part is for cars "without trip computer or multi-function steering wheel", so this clearly confused them.
  7. Had CC retro-fitted to my 2013 vRS last week, £210 inc VAT. Also have stalks with a non-functioning and unnecessary trip computer control, as there doesn't appear to be an option for cars with a MFSW. I'm wondering if the part for cars with no trip computer would actually have been the correct one, or would that impact on the MFSW? Dealer said they'd change it FOC if there was a different part without the extra switch that would still work with the MFSW.
  8. Mine was £210 all inclusive, including a courtesy car. Not sure if the dealer made a mistake, as the Skoda internal accessories website states a fitted price of £276 (not sure if this is inclusive of VAT). Got quoted £350 by another dealer, so definitely ring more than one if you are planning to get this done!
  9. Cruise control has now been successfully fitted to my car, though the windscreen wiper stalk now has unnecessary and non-functioning controls for the trip computer. Pointed this out to the service guy and he was perplexed. He checked the part numbers, and it seems there is no appropriate part for a car with a MFSW. He did say he'd check it out on Monday, and if there was an alternative correct part, they would change it.
  10. Can I ask what you mean by this? Which codes need erasing once the retro-fit is complete? Thanks.
  11. Funnily enough I am having the exact same experience today. My vRS went to a dealer today to have cruise control retro-fitted, but by the end of the day they told me that they hadn't been able to get it to work properly due to a coding problem. I already had a courtesy car (FOC) for today, which they told me I could keep until I could come back at my convenience to collect my car (once they've sorted the problem). Looks like they need the information in this post!
  12. Hi, Please could you PM me the update details for the Bolero? Does this update improve the sound quality at all? And why do the dealers deny there is an update available? Thank you very much in advance!
  13. Thanks for your reply. I've saved the VCDS log in case it disappears from the ECU memory. I see you've also posted about this issue in another post, and again mention the software update. Do you have any further information about the software update? My car is going to the dealer this Friday and I would like to be armed with as much information as possible so I can suggest to them possible resolutions in case they don't put 2 & 2 together and fix the problem first time. Thanks!
  14. Hi, Did you discover what was the cause of this fault code? I have the same on my Octavia VRS, and I don't have long left on my warranty to get it sorted if it's something to worry about! Thanks.
  15. Since late October I've noticed exactly the same thing with my diesel 2.0 Octavia Estate. I do 500+ miles a week, so I keep a close eye on fuel consumption. A couple of hundred miles into a tank there was a sudden drop of 10-15% in economy. Like you said, it mainly seems to be under acceleration that it's much poorer. I consistently get 57-60 mpg average from a tank (calculated, not taken from the computer, though I find it's only about 2% difference), but that week it went down to 52 mpg with no change in type of journies or driving style. I almost always use Sainsbury's City Diesel (most convenient, and cheapest). I filled up with a tank of Shell V-Power, which helped to take it back to close-to-normal, so perhaps there has been a change in the fuel properties to "winter" diesel which is affecting it. Local Shell station is being re-furbed, so as soon as it's open again I'll try normal Shell diesel to see how that performs - can't afford the extra 10p a litre to keep using V-Power diesel!
