  2. Yes dealers don't seem to know anything about 0kg gross train weight
  3. Hello members I am facing issue with my mk4 combi/estate octy 1st edition. After locking and unlocking car, electric trunk wont open 1st try on its own. I open the trunk any way possible (key, leg swipe or button) and the trunk just moves 1cm, beeps and latches back. Next opening (right after the 1st) it opens perfectly fine. What ive done: •changed the lock (orginal vag part) •diagnosed the 6D control unit however found 0 fault codes. •looked at live data while the boot was opening and found both motors run at the same time with the same current draw. •lock status was changing but when the beep happens the lock was in the safety latch state. (This is why I changed the lock) Any help would be apreciated!
  4. VCDS showing the following As a test I took the plastic spigit thing out and tried opening anb closing the flap manually. I can close and open the inside airvent so the flap motor is definitely working. That leaves me with checking the interior temp sensor. But the videos I've seen indicate if the temp sensor was malfunctioning then it would be at a higher degrees and the car would compensate but glowing cold air out on one side. This does not seem to apply here as it is correctly showing that it is blowing out cold air. Is there anything glaring I'm missing the the VCDS pic. Next step is going to be to try doing a coolant flush and maybe try flush the heater matrix out, depending on how easy it is to access from the engine bay. There seems to be a lot of guides on Octavias, but not many ok Superbs.
  5. Watching an old Top Gear which featured an advert with Future Islands Seasons track - a great band and album. Have now switched over to Radio 5L
  6. Eyup, new to the forum and couldn't find a relevant topic. I need to change the rear hub bearings but found 2 variants. so.. how many teeth doe they have on the ABS ring? thanks in advance
  7. Possibly but my general view is that if you have been asked to carry out some work on a car that improves its chance of passing an MOT then it makes sense to do that first? It's not as if the wiper blades would have taken them a long time, a couple of minutes at most.
  8. hi guys and girls. recently purchased a 2010 MKII Fabia vRS. first time i've owned a Skoda since a horrible red felicia in 2006 😂.
  9. PpMajor work was head refurbishment with valves and head gasket, new clutch and flywheel, it does eat driveshafts/boots but it does a fair bit of rough track driving other than that usual servicing and cam belt changes.. I've done about 170,,000 of it's total. It's a real workhorse .
  10. 260k miles, remarkable, a true workhorse. Talking Land Rover mileage there 👍
  11. I think it's possible but it means not only drilling holes in the roof but also having to remove the interior roof and I'm not sure I want to do all that to a new car.
  12. Friday, it’ll be cod and chips from the chippy - not an every week indulgence, perhaps fortnightly
  13. What things have you had to sort along the way? BTW Ours is still a youngster at 170k
  14. Agreed but that depends on what it fails on and the severity. If i'd told them what to fix in advance of the test and they chose not to, I'd be a tad miffed. My car failed last year on inoperative rear fog lights. It's now recorded as such in the MOT history. It failed because the MOT tech didn't know how to switch them on.
  15. Today
  16. 2008 2.0TDI in black currently on 325,000 miles and still going strong
  17. For a standard drain & refill, my Superb DQ200 mechatronic takes exactly 1ltr of oil. If you were to fully dismantle the mechatronic unit this volume would increase by about 100ml as some of the oil remains in the galleries & accumulator. The oil reference is G055512A2. I think it is the same for all DSGs.
  18. yes it comes to the seat belt, then I don't know I have everything dismantled, I'm going to give up thanks
  19. Rather than buy a ODB, just ask around you might find someone local that can wind the pistons back while you do the job and they may accept a donation !!
  20. Nah, most decent garages will do a free retest if its within x days of the original test.
  21. Hey all I put a greeting in the correct forum but I thought I would say hello in here as well as I'm likely to be in here quite a lot in the next few weeks! My 99 Octavia 1.9 TDI 110 has 290,000 kilometers on it with pretty good services history. There is the problem getting reverse gear and sometimes first which I am in the process of sorting out but there are also a couple of electrical problems like the temperature gauge not working on the dash, and nothing working on the door locks whether on the button or key. If anyone has bright ideas on the electrics that would be great, if I don't manage to sort a few things out in the next few days I will start more specific threads!
  22. I have an octavia MK III facilift model from 2019 and i am interested in learning more about it.
  23. A few years after my holiday in the South of France I worked for them in North Wales. Quite bizarre but I suppose good experience! A few years ago I had a Skoda superb saloon with the 1.9 TDI 130. It was a fabulous car until the engine management started playing up after filling up with opaque diesel. It went to the breakers after 400,000 kilometers.
  24. You're right in that "drive home" works well. It's if you want an address unknown to it then it's very slow by voice. In my previous Toyota you could say things like "I'm cold" and it would increase the heat, but Laura doesn't. I also could say "I'm hungry" and it popped up nearby food places. I don't think Laura does that either. I do pay annually for the Skoda live traffic though, which in the small print says it comes from TomTom. Then I use the satnav just as a fallback to Waze on the phone. Been useful a few times.
  25. So, have you found and are following a cable form that comes in from the rear bumper?
