Well as I am resting from a knee op getting bored. Decided to give bay a clean up. (pic's a little dark as running out of light) so don't give it justice to shine First was a meguiars clean machine spray over lights, bulkhead, power steering res, brake res and servo expansion tank and few other plastics and suspension turrets. Then concentrate of front slam panel, with a polish and chrome alloy polish on FMIC, CAI, Inlet and rocker covers Next job, fit new wing after some numpty hit my drivers side.1 point

Get Mrs Brimma to drive the car while you follow in Monte, not rocket science old chap?!1 point

Another update, Rear springs now replaced, and the car is once again sitting level at the rear. Also sorted the rusted screws on the ECU cover, so this is now fully attached making the box totally water tight. I gave up with sticky pads to hold the front reg plate on after the 4th set gave in last week. The front plate is now screwed on instead, so is hopefully more secure. Also cleaned the engine bay and applied a coating of a silicon back to black style product, so this is now looking good as well.1 point

I would reckon vent surrounds, sterring wheel trim pieces, radio surround, door pulls and the trim line along the doors would be nice. Maybe the heater switches aswell as there a bit naff1 point

It's time is right to bring this to a close. As usual debate's like this bring out the best and the worst in people. The best, those that have taken the time to consider the debate and constructively post their thoughts. Thank you to those of you that showed your support, indeed thank you to those that are perhaps yet undecided and would consider the matter further. And those that were honest and said no in a constructive way, perhaps the time may be right for you to step outside your comfort zone n the future. The worse, what can I say, dirty tricks campaigns?, well the evidence is around you. An Alternative option, not put up as a viable one, but one set up to goad and derail the Brimma debate. By Wap's own admission its primary purpose was as a test, to trip up Brimma, of which it failed. Mods offering little or no constructive feedback at best and posting derogatory sexist comments at worse, obviously sucked into Waps little test. Bryan has commented on a separate thread which I hope you take the time to read. The time perhaps isn't right in many ways for this, though I do hope that it has given each of us food for thought in healthy forum debate,, a different healthier perspective on Bryan for those that were dismissive, and a chance to reflect on your own behaviour for those that were destructive. Sorry to hear this and can concur with all of the above. First things first, take more exercise, it doesent have to be strenuous, but a good brisk walk everday will help. Cut down on the things you shouldnt eat (if you do) and try and measure the amount of calories you are eating (can you cut down anywhere) you may be shocked at how caolrie rich some things are, i have been quite shocked in some instances. Eat more healthier, try fruit instead of biscuits/crisps if you do, its good for both your digestion and for you. But i think you already know all of this anyway. Unfortunately i know exactly how you feel although mine was not as high as yours, but, it did stop me from continuing a pre deployment course and thus not being able to fly to Libya to do my job. What is your doctor doing about this? I have had an ECG and blood test run to check for liver and kidney function, diabetes and cholesterol. I also had the 24 hour blood pressure test which was a right pain with the hourly monitoring throughout the night however, this could be very important and will point to other underlying issues especially if your pressure does not drop at night. For me, the upshot of all the testing was that i am ok although my diastolic is slightly eleveated being in the low nineties and my 'medical hold' has been removed which now allows me to travel to some of the nastier places in the world. So far since January i have lost 8kg just by changing my eating habits and walking the perimiter of the site i work at which is 1.5 miles each day i am in the office. Also started cycling again which demonstrated to me just how bad i had allowed things to get. All i can say now and i hope you take this in the spirit it is meant, is do something about it before it is too late.1 point

I'd say its more than a little high, and needs addressing... for your age, your blood pressure really shouldnt be anything over 130/90 ... the diastolic (lower number) certailny would want to be less than 100! for example you wouldn't be allowed to do my job (which requires driving) with a diastolic over 100, as you would be considered too much at risk of heart attack or stroke... mine runs at about 125/85, and I take low doses of medication to control that, as I too had high blood pressure (I'm 41) , but my diet is good, my weight is good, and my colesterol levels are good, I also do enough exersise (mostly at work!) so the only option left to me was medication, I do however take less than half the dose of the available meds to keep mine under the required levels, as it was never too bad blood pressure of 169/114 WILL put you at higher risk of heart attack or stroke, so I would suggest, if lifestyle changes dont bring it down, to think about medication...as you are quite young, if left unaddressed, I would suggest it would reach pretty dangerous levels within 10 years.... edit: vindaloo beat me to some points1 point

Also forgot to mention had my own window cleaning business, dont see many woman doing that. Im not into sitting behind a desk and painting my nails. Tried several makes of LED's and some only lasted a few weeks. I now have Philips Vision 4000k T10 LED's which give a pure white light. They don't come cheap but have been in use for over a year now. Can be fitted either way round and do not trip a warning light. One set I had on a Octy failed the MOT for being having a blue tinge.1 point

Yes, of course. Some days ago I noticed a sound coming from the engine bay, left side. The sound was very similar to the one produced by a bad installed radio, that's to say, a whistling sound that increased with speed, and the frecuency also increased with speed (low velocity = low frequency or bass sound, high speed = high frequency or treble sound). It was independent of the selected gear, the sound at 120 km/h was the same in volume and frequency despite of being in 5th, 6th or 7th gear, and even in "N", so I presumed it did not come from the gearbox (but obviously I was wrong). I had a similar sound in my wife's Saab 95 SW two years ago and finally it was due to a damaged wheel bearing, so this time I thought it was the same. Even the technician at the local dealer, after going for a ride with my car, thought the same. But when I left the car at the garage last wednesday and they began to investigate, they realised it came from the gearbox. When I pick up the car next friday I will ask them which was the particular problem (clutch, electronics, ...), and also if the problem is supposed to be solved on the new gearbox. I'll keep you informed. P.S. Important: I did not suffer the vibrations in 2nd gear or anything else, the gearbox performed very well until a few days ago, 38 months and over 105.000 km.1 point

Cheap price so even if it's junk you can scrap it and not loose out. Now first thing to decide is how much work you are willing to do, most of the things that probably need doing are simple/cheap. The car is worth more than you paid however excessive oilin an engine can be terminal so on the basis it's been driven in this state did you notice much smoke when it's run? Before you start it up again either pump the excess out if you have a suction pump or drop the oil and refill to the correct level. Worst case scenario you drop £20 on oil/filter and a new sump washer or £35 for a fast fit place to do it for you. Visually check the coil pack for obvious cracks/damage, it's only two allen bolts but be careful not to loose the backing plate as it can drop down. Check the plugs while the coil pack is off, a full set will cost £12 ish from your local factor if required. Next you want a £5 lead from eBay and the shareware version of vcds, register and read the fault codes. if it is the coil pack then I'd strongly suggest getting a new genuine one vs a used or compatible one. Mayo is as you suggest either short trips so moisture isn't burnt off or oil and coolant mixing, you should have the revised HG (look for a T on the rhs of the block as you face the engine bay), check the coolant expansion tank for oil contamination (film).1 point

So.... "bottom-line advice is this: at price parity, the iPad 2 is a better bet for the average user, since it’s a more stable, near-perfect device with a rich assortment of apps for nearly every possible function you’d like to perform on your tablet. Therefore, unless you’ve got a grudge against Apple for some reason, or are enamored with the idea of having a more configurable tablet, there’s not a lot of justification to go with the less mature, less established device at the same price."1 point

Tomorrow we are picking up our shiny new candy white 140 Elegance, the replacement for our faithful steel grey 140 SE which has racked up an unfeasibly large mileage in the 18 months we've had it. It's not all good news though. I'm also chopping in my much loved MX-5 for a 1,2 Fabia because we need two cars capable of transporting the mutt and all her equipment. Tomorrow will be a day of mixed emotions and no mistake. Phibes.1 point

Firstly can I say thanks to anyone who has commented positively, helpfully or supportively. You know who you are and are a pleasure to share the brisky community with. To those who have commented negatively (you also know who you are) I feel you have missed the point somewhat and have just assumed things (which is just the norm for people like you). At no point did I say I couldn't afford to pay the increase. I can, but of course I'm unhappy about it. 50% is rediculous. Although If any one of you got a letter tomorrow saying your mortgage payments are increasing by 50%, it sounds like you wouldn't complain at all. I must just be a real moaner eh? And finally to Kandy - your comment read pretty appallingly. You don't know me, what I earn, if I have any savings etc but apparently I've benefitted from every one else's loss? I am a hard working tax payer with savings thankfully. Good job I'm not on the edge of losing my house and looking to fellow brisky members for a bit of moral support as that comment would have sent me over the edge. I'm not going to assume who and what you are although I have a pretty good idea. Mr Roll.1 point

I didn't even say I supported Boris?! I don't know, but I wouldn't advocate a lying labour moron. We've had our share of those and look what happened. Mr "I don't want to be a Lord" - oh wait look he's a Lord Prescott. Yeah, he'll do wonders. Just found this, hilarious! http://toque.co.uk/prescottballs So no, you clearly have a few screws loose if you want to entrust the country to this ****hole!1 point

Maybe its my superior driving skills then :sun: Plus none of these mapped fabia`s are mega harsh or anything and since were talking about a second or so to around a 100, it`ll be one or two car lengths either way.1 point

Quite simply, no. To be 100% legal with HIDs you need auto-levelling and headlight washers. Also without the projectors you'll blind everyone else off the road. 10,000k bulbs just look plain stupid and are bound to get you a pull.1 point
