  1. Even if you buy a Yeti, I doubt you'll be admitted into that part of the forum!

  2. It really is about time that some people welcomed 'new' and 'seasoned' posters with just a tad of warmness. Not everyone is an expert and some may even know more than others. Some don't know what they don't know. Sometimes the posts are down right embarrassing to read. Perhaps we need an 'apologise on behalf of Yeti owners' button.... Now, back to VCDS options.

  3. That's because it's not a single project so much as a rambling obsession with the mk1 Fabia. I've gone through a few on this thread and now think I'm pretty well sorted with where I am going.

  4. This morning, while in a meeting at the office, I received an email from my Skoda dealership, with just this text: "Say hello" as an attachment, a picture he took for me while at the top-secret non-costumer-accessible location where all incoming orders are processed: He then invited me to join him there come monday morning and take a look around myself, so I can take some virgin pictures of my yet unspoiled new motor. I can't take her with me though, she still has to visit a number of 'facilities' to receive amongst other things some tinting, a block heater and some extra love in the audio-department. But still, d-day is close, I can't wait!

  8. I noticed that the glass on the offside foglight was broken last week so I ordered one from an E-bay seller for £27. Google searches for 'how to change' were a bit daunting, some saying you need to remove the bumper or fiddle about in the wheel arch just to change the bulb! Yesterday I decided to bite the bullet and have a go. First task was to remove the trim / grill. A bit tentative at first but then found a firm tug on the inner / radiator end did the job. This revealed three torx screws holding the light in which came out easily and then just twisted the bulbholder out. Before fitting the new unit, I set the adjustment screw the same as the old one. Couldn't have been easier.

  12. As i mentioned before it all depends on which ABS pump is fitted to your car from new (Found via VCDS) I never mentioned anything about mechanical changes etc..... did I??? Anyway depending on which you have means that both HHC and XDS are available or just one of them or neither. I know for a fact a dealer would have told me XDS wasn't possible on my car as it's not an option etc.... They have pretty much standardised the ABS pumps now so anything newer than around 2010 is usually good for both. But, as i'm sure you're aware anyway, all this info is available on other parts of the forum where you don't get your head bitten off for trying to help other members.... Maybe you should take a look yourself at the list of ABS part numbers that is on here so as to confirm what your car is capable of.. Hopefully you'll meet with a more civil manner from the members in that section of the forum. I know for a fact a dealer would have told me XDS wasn't possible on my car as it's not an option etc....

  14. Oh sorry for breathing!!!! And at least spell 'PERB right..... There was no B in the middle last time I checked the back of the car. And for assistance of the other people who may be interested the two mods I mentioned ARE actually available on the Yeti.

  15. Today I replaced the chrome grill bit with a black one. It looks good and no one is allowed to disagree. I also fitted some Team Heko wind deflector jobbies that I aquired. Can't really see what the fuss is about but some people think they're awesome so therefore, I must be awesome.

  17. So I finally got my head back from having new valves and a decoke, I was very pleased with the results but no progress could be made due to having to wait for new camshaft bolts which finally turned up today! So I got cracking and here's the results I soon got round to fitting the tappets and the camshaft and injeftors finally made its way into place. I then got the head and block cleaned up ready to be put together! After everything was prepped and clean I managed to get the headgasket down and bolted down the head and it finally start to look like I was getting somewhere When it was all torqued up I swiftly moved on to fitting my new cambelt, I kept the same tensioner and water pump as it was only changed 15k ago by skoda, but after a fiddle getting the belt on along with the timing ect it was finally on and tensioned up I also fitted new glow plugs as I don't know when they were last changed. That was all I managed today as the postman didn't turn up till around 2 with the bolts :( and there was some rain that stopped me for a while but I'm hoping tomorrow I should have it all back together, I hope anyway

  20. ok worked with fabrooka on the remap and the car has transformed, power, mpgs, and is a joy to **** people off. I have gone back on to standard wheels filled with nitrogen {more mpgs don't lose pressure} the car payed back the cost of remap within say 5 weeks with the mileage I do. currently looking for a pd150 turbo and a front mount intercooler which I will try and hide as much as possible, to keep this street sleeper a secret, then its back to hidden power aka fabrooka for another dual map setup . cheers all ricky

  22. Given the exponential nature of this in West Africa right now, the absolute best action you can take to protect yourself against this outbreak is to fund Doctors Without Borders. They are doing an incredible job in my opinion. I just donated £500. 24. Well I sold mine to jerbear. No it never rattled. And I sold it because I don't have a dog and it was an utter MARE to get that stupid parcel shelf in or out with the guard in place. Near impossible actually. I find even without the guard you HAVE to drop the seats on one side to get that awful shelf out. Yes it's hard so you can put things on it but trust me I'd swap it for a roller shelf any day. So as long as you have the guard in, the shelf will work fine with it but just know you basically can't then easily change the configuration.

  26. I'm afraid whoever is dealing with this sort of engine issue can often have to chase around an engine to find all the faults. You cannot just plug something in and get a readout of what is wrong and it can be a case of some guessology is used. There is no other way. A broken or seized piston ring is not always apparent and there is no way to tell when the valves are not sealing properly. A compression test is almost irrelavent. Even a sooted up cylinder is not a reliable indicator of a mechanical problem down below. However, I always used to prepare the customer for the worst case scenario if investigating this type of engine problem especially where poor oil servicing applies. Poor oil and short journeys buggers up the entire engine irrespective of the miles it's covered. Most techs know this and will often advise a new or recon engine is the best way forward, and it often is!

  27. Let me guess Jabozuma. You tested no 4 cylinder last...yes? If so thats a completely normal result and if you had gone back and tested the other cylinders in reverse order, using the same technique as you used before, you'd have found the pressures are up on those other pots too, particularly no 1. The reason is oil will have circulated properly around the compression rings. Although as you say, readings do fluctuate a little from pot to pot anyway. To get a really accurate reading we always turned the engine over on the starter for several seconds with the engine warm before testing each cylinder. Don't do it cold unless the book specifically tells you to. This allows the oil to seal each ring and you get a proper reading. Cold readings are always less, but should be within specified limits from the workshop manual. Sorry but I don't know what those should be on your engine. But it looks to me as if you have nothing to worry about.

  28. Did you get a Warning Beep as well See page 29 / 30 Owners Manual If the Oil Light 'Yellow', Low Oil or Warning Message Shows it could need as much as 1.5 Litres in. Even 2 litres. But do not overfill. There is a Red Low Oil Pressure light after the Yellow. Read the Owners Manual on the Bonnet Being Open after a 'Yellow Low Oil Light'. Page 30. The warning light goes out if the Bonnet is open for more than 30 Seconds. If no oil is put in, the 'Warning Light comes on again after driving about 100 km. THATS WHAT IT SAYS. YOU WOULD HOPE IT IS ON QUICKER THAN THAT.

  29. Hmmm. I think this is where he managed to enter the 'zone' previously! I've already told him that Yeti's aren't actually that bad, in fact I'd go as far as saying that the FL's are really quite good - but obviously not in the same league as a Tiguan though! My main concern is that Bryan will feel out of his depth due to him being soooo much younger than the other people who frequent there. They may 'pick on him' as a newbie?

  35. I was giving a friend from work a lift home after work and at the traffic lights I pull up next to a really old Vauxhall Nova. Naturally, this Nova had been lowered, super loud exhaust fitted, massive rear spoiler and over sized alloys which were probably worth at least three times as much as the car itself. Inside of the car were 4 little yobs blasting their drum and bass so loud it would probably cause an avalanche on the other side of the world. They start looking at us, laughing and pointing and revving their little engine as hard they could. The lights went green and yeah... not surprisingly I left them for dust. I bring the car to 40mph (40 road) and stop accelerating, a few seconds later they come flying past us at about 50mph and get flashed by a speed camera about 20 or so yards ahead of us. This didn't just make us smile, it had us laughing for the rest of the week.

  37. Anyway my last input for you all maybe some will find use of it...... The info i mentioned earlier that is located elsewhere on Brisky regarding the various ABS modules used in Skoda cars and which ones are compatible with HHC and XDS..... PR-1AT = Electronic Stabilisation Problem (ESP) PR-UG0 = Hill Hold Control (HHC) OR Comfort Driving Assist NOT installed PR-UG1 = Hill Hold Control (HHC) installed PR-UG3 = Comfort Driving Assist installed = XDS PR-UG4 = Hill Hold Control (HHC) & Comfort Driving Assist installed Mine was a 'BE' variant. I'm back off to friendlier pastures....

  38. VAG must really hold the Yeti up on a pedestal as it appears it's the only vehicle in the VAG range that they haven't standardised parts on. So anyway how did I manage to have XDS enabled on my car when it isn't even an option on any Superb of any spec???? But hey what do I know? I only drive one.

  40. Apologies for the (too) late response! It does seem a bit hit and miss as to what VCDS coding items work and what do not (at least to a VCDS newbie....). On TIBET III (MY2014 FL CR170 Outdoor L&K - in Tibetan Bronze in case that matters) the following work: 1. Instrument staging (now termed 'indicator celebration') - didn't take until I ticked the box whilst the engine was running. 2. Rear window wiper teardrop wipe 3. Coming home lights changed from head lights to fog lights 4. Passenger door mirror lowering when reverse engaged (code okay but then remember to tick the 'mirror down' option that appears on the Maxidot. Also requires that the mirror selector is set to 'L' and back to '0' for it to return) 5. Brake assist set to 'high' from 'average' Things that I haven't got to work although others say they have: 1. Cruise control speed display 2. Switching back on oil temp display on the Maxidot which disappeared when the service regime was reset from variable to fixed (by the dealer to reflect the regime it is on) Note: Certainly on a FL, VCDS cannot be used to switch on the tail lights as DRLs (and I can see the point in doing this....). Dealers can do it though with their 'Super VCDS'! PS Now how about a bit of civility to others?

  45. These changes are listed in the new brochure too - with photos as well. 6.5" Amundsen with DAB standard in the L&K - yet in typical SUK fashion the brochure ALSO shows that DAB on its own is also an option on the L&K. Wonder if they have ever in their entire existence got a brochure 100% right?
