One for the conference management-speak sufferers, fresh out of Viz today: The only worthwhile response to a graduate of the firm's management training programme after they utter the well-used rallying call "There's no I in team" "No, but there is a U in **nt"3 points

Agree [emoji106] My Citigo is way roomier and pleasant compared to what my Rapid was. I felt so cramped in there even with the seat right back. Looked nice and the Sport seats were nice (harder than the Citigo) but just too closed in [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

On a UK supplied 2011 vRS. 1) Are headlight washers fitted? Yes it has xenon's. 2) Do you have a knob that allows you to manually adjust the height of the headlight beam next to the headlight switch? No? You have xenon's. This Octavia has xenon's... This switch is from a car that doesn't... 3) FL MkII Octavia's with xenon's have AFS (cornering function), so it is possible to tell a non-xenon headlight from a xenon headlight. If you have xenon's you get this small rectangle on the outside of each projector lens...2 points

All hail the Lord of the Nuggets! Hi Nobleskoda, there isn't much we can do outside at the moment until the daylight draws out a bit so it is just a meet up at the pub to put the world to rights at the moment. Anyone is more than welcome. The Charlton Inn Bournemouth Road Charlton Marshall Blandford Forum Dorset DT11 9NH You can't miss Jose's Bumblebeast and I'll be there with my Yeti. We should be on a large table on the side of the pub nearest the car park. Ian2 points

I saw one of these last week and thought it was quite a pleasant looking vehicle in the metal. I don't know whether it's quite my thing but I'm pretty sure I'd go for a closer look and a test drive if I was shopping round at the mo.2 points

1st prototype made and fitted. I'll see how it goes over the next week or 2 before I make the final one to fit but it feels OK. Just need to adjust the fit to floor on the left but it's firmly fixed with just 2 carpet screws at the moment.2 points

I've had a couple of newer (2014) courtesy cars whilst mine is in for ongoing gearbox/clutch investigations, and I would 100% agree with your observations. Gearbox much tighter and precise along with finally being quieter, no rattle in 5th gear, quieter clutch (no nasty noise heard externally), and a much improved suspension. If I don't have much success with my car under warranty I'd consider upgrading to a newer model at the end of this year, along with DAB becoming standard and the dual electric window switches, they've tweaked an already good car and hopefully improved quality control. Oh, and another train driver (and ex-bus driver) here doing funny hours! :coffee:2 points

Might be worth reporting the first garage to VOSA as they are likely to scam other people as well (who might not be aware enough to go elsewhere)2 points

I'd have happily given you a hand if you were closer. One word of caution - check that it doesn't affect your DAB reception before you wire it in for good. Had an 0805 which had to go back because I lost most stations once it was turned on.2 points

As I've said, driven the new Fabia SE, 1.2 Turbo and my opinion is, looks ugly, it's bloody stupid to put a touch screen in the car including the base model and not having a satnav (considering the nav is a option on the Citigo) the centre cup holder below the radio screen thing (sounds stupid but will get annoying after a while, especially those who drive a lot of miles on business) is in a stupid position, the gear stick get's in the way in gear's 1 3 & 5 so you have to awkwardly reach over to get a drink out of the holder, the brakes grind, the turbo suffers from awful lag and the car won't let you select 5th gear at 30mph half the time despite the CItigo being able to do this, to be frank the new Fabia didn't deserve "Car of the Year" it just didn't, as much of a Skoda fan I am, there not getting any better to look at, perhaps to drive (excluding the Fabia) yes and the interior of the Fabia was okay IMO but the Citigo felt roomier than the new Fabia and I'd actually feel more comfortable making a 200 mile trip in the Citigo than the new Fabia1 point

We picked up our Citigo SE this weekend. It has manual mirrors with two electric window switches on the drivers side. Westover said it was the first model they had seen with the new twin drivers side window switches that first appeared on the UP!1 point

Oh, and as for the actual question about getting another Octy. No not for a long time, because I'd be better off keeping this one than swapping for another Octy 3. Don't see the point getting another car if its going to be the same as what I have. So no until the Octy 4 comes out at least. But by then who knows. I may have the Jaaaag by then, or Skoda may have gone stupid with their interior or exterior design.1 point

I went through Annesley Williams but considering they had never heard of it it probably doesn't matter too much! Here is the thread between Annesley's Parts department and VWGI: From: Logistics Sent: 13 March 2015 10:10 To: parts Subject: RE: smartgate Morning Stock in the factory. lead time 7-10 days Kind Regards Roisin Logistics Volkswagen Group Ireland Ltd. Block C, Liffey Valley Office Campus Liffey Valley, Dublin 22 From: parts Sent: 13 March 2015 10:02 To: Logistics Subject: smartgate Can you check and find out how long it would take to supply this part please. 5L0063218 Annesley Williams ---------------------------------- Part # 5L0063218 is for a Yeti but I don't know if they are truly vehicle specific... Spoke to the guys in Annesley's and they said they couldn't find anything on the system searching "SmartGate" and wouldn't have found it had I not provided the code... One for the Octavia looks to be slightly more expensive. Strange! Anyway, give Park Motors code 5E0063218 (sourced here) and they should find it no problem. They will likely tell you(as AW told me) that it's not in stock in the UK and could take months to get from the factory. You can assure them that VWGI have confirmed they're in factory stock and shouldn't take long :p Also - while searching for installation instructions I came across this for your car - http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/skoda/oem-5e0063218-smart-gate-for-skoda/ - I know nothing about the site so would advise the usual cautions, look for reviews etc, before placing an order! I will of course keep everyone up to date on how I get on, and scan whatever installation instructions come with my SmartGate and post them for those interested. Cheers, SB1 point

Having been in a similar situation a few years past (before wholescale sanctioning came in), I know the feeling. Some people know how to play the system and get away with it year on year whereas others who are trying to actually find work tend to be the ones who have problems1 point

Thanks for the update, considering this myself so interested to hear how you go with it - keep us posted. Which dealer you using? Bit of luck it'll be same as me, MSL Park Motors, and I won't have to explain it!1 point

Just be aware that it doesnt translate that 2500 hours at 1mA will mean 250 hours at 10mA, or 25 hours at 100mA; higher current draws (it varies by battery type), cause the battery to become inefficient and lose power much faster.1 point

I think the main disappointment with the O3 is that not all the best bits of the O2 were carried over, so it is more apparent to O2 owners where the corner cutting axe has fallen to pay in part for the raft of toys. As JJ came from a Focus, Mk 1 I seem to recall, that explains his point of view, I had a Mk1 Focus back in 1999 and it was a revelation at the time compared to the Escort it replaced, and became the benchmark for all small hatch family cars to aspire to. The O3 is still a great car for the money, despite the price rises and increased depreciation, but it's just a shame a little more of the O2 DNA was lost in the evolution.1 point

To be fair those prices are really not that unreasonable, garages have to make a living, and DON'T skip the tracking geometry check or you'll be paying £100 for a new pair of front tyres because the tracking WILL be out once the bushes are replaced. I'd want both bushes done and both droplinks as well.1 point

I don't particularly want to get into an argument but there are some assumptions being made here. So let me clarify. It is a 2 lane road, with the bus lane taking lane 1 until about 2 car lengths before the traffic lights. After the traffic lights I need to be in the left lane, in order to be in the correct lane at the next set, to then travel around the one way system. So, bus lane ends. I see that there is a coach that I had passed because it was barely moving in the bus lane. Traffic light is red, one car in lane 2. I see that there is enough space for at least 2 of those coaches behind me in order to get into the left lane now that I can as there is no more bus lane. So now I am first in the queue at the lights. Coach rolls up behind me, still barely moving. Lights flash. As far as I am concerned, nothing wrong done at all. Nowhere did I cut anybody up, or cause anybody to even have to consider me, besides the coach and they would have had to stop anyway if I wasn't there. I have every right to move into that lane, and I did so safely. If the coach driver had a problem, then it was mistaken. And while we are on the topic of buses. I don't like to generalise, but I am a Londoner. I have been a passenger on those for most of my life. Smooth is not a word I would ever use to describe them. Sharing a road space with them is worse. Even when you are treating them with the respect that their size deserves. In an effort to stay on topic, todays smile was as I watched the mpg reading rise to (an indicated) 45.6 as I turned off the A3, then as expected, drop as I drove through town. What I didn't expect was for it to rise again at all. I got it to 46 if I recall correctly. Either something is broken or my right foot isn't working properly1 point
